22, 2008 Dear Mr. Chesnut, Month after month I read articles such as yours, moaning about one politician or another who hate our guns, and calling on us to join the NRA, or write letters or sign petitions or... whatever difference any of that makes in reality. Right now it all seems pretty hopeless since Obama and his incredible cast of control freaks are about to claim even more power over us than any king who ever sat on the face of the earth. Unfortunately, most people - including the NRA - seem to fail to understand the real danger and the actual problem. These people: most politicians and bureaucrats, along with most modern academics and media figures, do not just hate our guns. They hate people, all of us! They especially despise and hate those who do not swallow their lies of "reasonable control" or "the common good," who are not willing to be controlled and robbed for any reason. They hate and fear people - especially free people! If all the guns on the planet magically vanished, they'd still be terrified of us because their reason for living is control and they have clear plans to control every knife, screwdriver and ice pick on the planet if that's what it takes to control the people. Yes, they hate our guns (not theirs, mind you), but they hate and fear PEOPLE with guns - horribly and implacably - because they do know the truth: Only people can use tools, and guns are only one of the tools required to maintain a free and just society. The most important tool is our mind, our will and our integrity - our determination never to allow these people to impose the slavery and death they have planned for all of us. "...But when a long train of abuse and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security." Have we not begged, pleaded, compromised and lobbied far too long already? Liberty or death!
