Commentary on The News
Posted July 09, 2012By Nathan A. Barton © 2012 Abominable Act - Politics 2012 Tea Party Movement Leader Calls for Insurrection Against ObamaCare (RawStory.com) Mississippi Tea Party Chairman Roy Nicholson posted a statement at his group’s website on Friday proclaiming that “the US Supreme Court has joined with the Executive and Legislative branches of the federal government in abandoning the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and with that ruling abandoned the People.” “The all out oppression of all people has begun,” Nicholson continued. “In such cases submission is treason. Treason against the Constitution and the valid legitimate government of the nation to which we have pledged our allegiance for years. To resist by all means that are right in the eyes of God is not rebellion or insurrection, it is patriotic resistance to invasion. . . . May godly courageous leaders rise up in His wisdom and power to lead us in displacing the criminal invaders.” There is no reason to think that people, even members of the Tea Party Movement, will take this seriously. Glenn Beck and others will continue to preach the wisdom of taking a very peaceable, even totally non-violent approach; other religious leaders will call for total submission to government, and others will try to tell people to wait and use the ballot box and protest and petitions and the media to make their fight - there will be pie in the sky by and by. That is, to my current way of thinking, a total waste of time and effort: it is time for rebellion. That does not mean violent rebellion. No one need or should firebomb IRS offices or federal courthouses or ambush federal agents or local cops, but it does mean refusal to play the game anymore, refusal to accept the foofahrah of summons and penalties and "voluntary" reporting and fines and interest, refusal to do anything to aid the Man in stealing more money, more power, more liberty, and more of everything. The point is, the list of grievances is LONG ENOUGH to support such a call. There is no need to wait for yet another phony election or another 'impeach the president" moment. Let the rebellion and the insurrection begin. Secession is the right answer. The bloodletting and other evil WILL follow BUT it will follow regardless - if we submit now, we are slaves and indeed, less than slaves because they have already decided that THEY DON’T NEED MOST OF US. It is only a matter of time before they start to kill us OTHER than in the womb and in our dotage. Ultimately tyrants are their own worst enemy, but the Tree of Liberty will be well watered, the longer we allow this to go on. Monday, July 02, 2012 Abominable Act - Home front: uprising? Ed Meese on Obamacare Ruling: ‘The People Will Rise Up’ (CNSNews.com) We hope and pray that they will. See my opening comments. Hoploclasts - First Citizen's minions Obama Contributor, Who Helped Enact Assault-Weapons Ban, Ran ‘Fast and Furious’ (CNSNews.com) Lots of reason to really support THIS guy and his messiah, huh? He really gets things done, especially when it comes to killing people and stealing people’s rights. First Wife - Politics 2012 (2 stories) Michelle Obama: There is ‘No Place Better’ Than Church to Talk About Political Issues (CNSNews.com) Oh? No separation of church and state for Tranzis, is there? Of course, it is only THEIR religion that they want to talk about - that is, politics. The politics of victimization, of group-think, of lies and twisted “reason” and worse. What happened to the Johnson Amendment? Oh, right, that only applies to people who are really religious, not to fakes. (Why "First Wife?" Because someone pointed out that the one thing she ain't is a "lady." And I refuse to use the words that some people would use to describe her and her attitude.) First Lady (sic): Jesus 'Was Out There Fighting Injustice and Speaking Truth to Power' (CNSNews.com) You know, she can even make the Lord seem tawdry and partisan and sort of, well, weak and of no great importance, and kinda like her husband. At least we know that fewer and fewer people are believing her. At the same time, since people have started turning Oprah off BECAUSE Oprah started worshipping the First Citizen too much, maybe she’s got a future career in talk show TV. She’s got the looks for it, apparently. Abominable Act - Theft by government (2 stories) Pelosi: Individual Mandate Isn’t a Tax: ‘No, It’s Penalty, No, It’s a Penalty, It’s a Penalty’ (CNSNews.com) So, Ms. Pelosi, you REJECT the Supreme Court ruling? We know that your messiah does that regularly (like their ruling on the Arizona immigration law), but do you REALLY want to go there? And for that matter, does the next jerk? WH Chief of Staff: It's a Penalty, 'Doesn't Matter' What SCOTUS Called It (CNSNews.com) Of course not - not when you work for the messiah, the current occupant of 1600 PA! Based on that, we can ignore ALL of what SCOTUS said. Folks, it is time either to exile these people to someplace weirder than THEY are or to secede. Frankly, much as I like the Jefferson Memorial and the Air and Space Museum and the Engineer Castle there near Georgetown, I can do without visiting them for the rest of my life. If we are going to waste millions, I bet we could build a nice 50-60 foot high wall clean around on the INSIDE of the beltway, with some nice mesh on the upstream and downstream sides, and do a Gotham City like “No Man’s Land” to the District of Cuckoos, for well under a billion. For one thing, I bet individuals and businesses would donate a lot of labor, equipment hours and materials for such a worthy project. And the rest of us could have a little sanity to go along with our peace. Islamic wars: Canaanite front - Culture wars UNESCO Sides With Palestinians on Declaring Jesus’ Birthplace ‘Endangered,’ Ignoring Advice of Experts, Church Leaders, and U.S. (CNSNews.com) Is this any surprise? Like their Tranzi buddy, the First Wife of the US, they don't have to follow the rules that they make up for everyone else. Abominable Act - Congress in Action Republican Sen. Mike Lee: ‘I Don’t Think It Was a Tax’ (CNSNews.com) Well, apparently it is now. We, of course, must decide on which definition we are to follow. With the system we have now, "penalty" and "tax" and "fine" and "fee" and extortion and blackmail and protection money all sort of blend together. Mama's Note: They all have exactly the same purpose and effect. Theft and control. That's all they ever were. Abominable Act - First Citizen's minions White House Statement on Obamacare Mandate Tax Contradicts Supreme Court Ruling (CNSNews.com) As the WAPO points out, Conservatives and Progressives agree on something, for once. Nazgul-in-chief - Abominable Act Chief Justice Roberts Jokes About Trip to 'Impregnable' Fortress (CNSNews.com) No joke, really. He has got a LOT of people very angry at him. World wars: Islamic wars (Canaanite front) and Russia Clinton: Fear of Regional War Prompted Russia to Back Syrian Transition Plan (CNSNews.com) Maybe a regional war in which Russia doesn’t have a clear benefit to receive from the conflict. And a loss of Syria as a client state, however poor a one it is, is a bigger blow if it is done by yet another NATO-invasion and occupation. Especially with Israel next door. Politics 2012 - Abominable Act Romney camp sides with Obama that health insurance mandate is not tax (Washington Post) Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign on Monday rejected a Republican attack on the Affordable Care Act, repudiating a contention made in last week’s Supreme Court decision that the law’s requirement that individuals carry medical coverage amounts to a tax. Of course, a few days later he rejected his rejection. What difference does ot make? It is evil, a bad "tax" or "penalty" and just repeal it. In the meantime, Ignore it! Politics 2012 - Nazgul-in-chief Now it’s conservatives who suspect a ‘political’ Supreme Court (Washington Post) Before the Supreme Court ruled on President Obama’s health-care law, the warnings that the public should be alert to a “political decision” all came from the left. Liberals said that a ruling by the five conservative, Republican-nominated justices to strike down the signature domestic achievement of a Democratic president and a Democratic-controlled Congress would come with an unmistakable partisan sheen. They are, of course, both right: the Court IS political because they are going to protect their own turf first and foremost. And like virtually ALL politicos, they have their own agenda and are sneaky! First Citizen's minions - Politics 2012 Eric Holder says Republicans have made him a ‘proxy’ to attack President Obama (Washington Post) Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. sharply criticized lawmakers Monday for voting to hold him in contempt of Congress last week, saying Republicans have made him a “proxy” to attack President Obama in an election year. Yeah, he's right - and Holder is also a weak chink in the First Citizen's campaign armor. Abominable Act - Politics 2012 Republicans’ repeal push: Is it the right move? (Washington Post) In the immediate aftermath of the Supreme Court upholding President Obama’s health care law, Republicans had a simple, one word pushback: “repeal.” “I will act to repeal Obamacare,” said [Romney]. To the mainstream media, it is NOT the "right move" because if they can mobilize voters on this one issue, the First Citizen is toast. Politics 2012 - First Citizen Obama’s new attacks on Romney and outsourcing (Washington Post) “The Washington Post has just revealed that Romney’s companies were pioneers in shipping U.S. jobs overseas.... Does Iowa really want an outsourcer-in-chief in the White House?” — one in a series of new Obama campaign ads... No, the FedGov started the outsourcing, and many companies (including Bain, I presume) saw the handwriting on the wall and responded. But as usual, the First Citizen and his minions will lie. Tuesday, July 03, 2012 Theft by government 8,733,461: Workers on Federal 'Disability' Exceed Population of New York City (CNSNews.com) The State is hard on people. This liability is staggering. If we each average just $200 a month, that is 1.6 BILLION a month, or 19.2 billion a year. For 40 years on average, that is 768 billion - 3/4 of a trillion dollars. Can ANY nation afford that? Or can this debt (for that is what it is, morally perhaps if not strictly according to accounting) be purchased for some reduced sum? When the FedGov collapses, NO one will collect any of these disability payments, so anything that could be worked out would be better (in the eyes of most). The most reasonable alternative would seem to be to buy that debt using funds raised by selling off federal assets. I might suggest the Black Hills, to start. Cruel irony that the last act of theft the FedGov might pull is to steal from the very people it used as an excuse to steal and squander much of that wealth. Theft of and by government Auditors find overlap, possible waste in federal job programs for the disabled (Washington Post) Dozens of federal programs to help Americans with disabilities find jobs are fragmented and overlapping, potentially making services for this vulnerable population inefficient and wasteful, government auditors reported. No, really? I for one find this hard to believe, especially on the 4th of July. Seriously, the way many programs are operated AND designed, they ENCOURAGE and ASSIST this sort of theft, or if you prefer, waste. Islamic wars: Afghan front 70% of Total U.S. Military Fatalities in Afghan War Occurred Under Obama’s Watch (CNSNews.com) As we departed further and further from the correct course of action and got more and more into the Tranzi dream of “nation-building,” the more it cost in blood and treasure. Stupid government tricks - First Wife White House Sends Peas to Elementary School As Thank You for Planting Michelle’s Garden (CNSNews.com) Whoopie! What generosity! What a wonderful example of giving and setting the example for others. Nazgul - Dead Constitutions Texas AG: Presidents ‘Must Be More Committed’ to Constitution in Their Supreme Court Picks (CNSNews.com) Like THAT is going to happen! It is more than being a strict constructionist, it is also the human desire for power and prestige that comes into play. There is no way to select saints for SCOTUS. Congress in action - Dead Constitutions and First Citizen Rep. Steve King Says Obama Is Governing Like a 'King' (CNSNews.com) More evidence that even to “conservatives” the Republic is dead - but King is wrong: the First Citizen is behaving more like an emperor than a king. East Asian Front - Culture wars: killing babies Another Forced Abortion Case Reported as Abuses Under China’s ‘One Child’ Policy Get More Attention (CNSNews.com) This is inevitable, and is going to happen in other parts of the world as the Tranzis tighten their control. This is the outlier now, but the State has always demanded this degree of “abuse” in some way. Islamic wars: African collapse Kenyan Church Attacks Prompt Warnings of Collaboration Among Terror Groups (CNSNews.com) Well, they all speak FOR Allah - and presumably WITH Allah: seems to be a fair amount of “collaboration” there. What does Allah say? The war for the planet and our souls continues. Crash of 2009 Forget Hot Dogs, Glut Means Cheap Lobster Prices (CNSNews.com) Yeah, right. Meanwhile, what are hot dogs being made of this Independence Day? Do you REALLY want to know? Go to Scientific American blog: hot dog ingredients! If you REALLY want to know. Seriously, prices are driven by demand, and right now a lot of Americans can’t afford to buy lobster - even the fake crab is pretty pricey on a no-income budget. So.... Mama's Note: I won't buy any of that stuff. In fact, I'm not fond of shellfish at all. I buy plain old chicken and ground beef most of the time, with pork steak a rare treat. I used to love Oscar Mayer hot dogs, but the last time I got some they didn't taste right and most got fed to the dog. My favorite meat is wild antelope. Hope the "boys" will get me one this fall. Abominable Act - Politics 2012 - INSURRECTION More state leaders considering opting out of Medicaid expansion (Washington Post) A growing number of Republican state leaders are revolting against the major Medicaid expansion called for under President Obama’s health-care overhaul, threatening to undermine one of the law’s most fundamental goals: insuring millions of poor Americans. And now that the SCOTUS has ruled that Congress can’t bribe (or blackmail) the states into doing this, I expect that even more states will go away. This is the bare stirrings of insurrection. Faint but there. Theft by government Medicaid and the Dual Eligible Population (Texas Public Policy Foundation) Texas' STAR+PLUS program coordinates care for the majority segment of dual eligibles; so far, Texas has seen cost reductions of 22 percent for in-patient care and 15 percent for acute out-patient care... There ARE ways to save money on indigent health care and still keep people from dying too fast, but it takes guts and a willingness to put others first. Government union members and bureaucrats don’t have that willingness OR guts - or they’d be working somewhere else. Mama's Note: The best way to reduce health care costs for all levels of society is to get government out of the way of all the options for improved diet, stress management and productivity in every area. People dependent on doctors and chemical medicine will never really be healthy, and those costs will always be high. Theft by government (HM Government version) How the British Government Lobbies Itself and Why (Institute of Economic Affairs) About 27,000 British charities now receive more than 75 percent of their income from the government... Incest? We know that MANY American charities, including religious organizations, receive a LOT of income from the government, if not as bad (relatively, not in sheer numbers) as the UK. It may not be incest, but it is almost certainly some form of conflict of interest and collusion in theft. If a "charity" cannot support itself by its own merits, it should not be allowing government to steal for it - let it go out and steal on its own! Theft by government Auto Bailout or United Auto Workers Bailout? (Heritage Foundation) Subsidizing United Auto Workers compensation cost $26.5 billion -- an amount that exceeds the estimated taxpayer losses on the bailout program... The UAW and other unions are scarcely charities - though they may pretend to be. So this is yet another example of how they collude with the biggest thieves on the planet to rob consumers and workers and owners all alike. Stupid government - New religions: environism) California's Electric Vehicle Fetish (Environmental Trends) California's "Zero-Emission Vehicle" mandate requires at least 15.4 percent of all cars sold be either fully electric, a plug-in hybrid or powered by a hydrogen fuel cell by 2025... Safe to assume that this means the Western States will have to put up with MORE refugees from California. If you own land on the border with CA in Nevada or Arizona, or even if you own land in far SW Utah, I’d seriously think about leasing to car dealers, and setting up a “free to passenger” bus service from LA and San Diego, maybe even San Francisco Bay area. The entire concept of the mandate, like virtually ALL mandates, is based on a stupid certainty that the future will live up to our expectations. Assuming there is some enforcement mechanism, all this will do is lead to fines and punishments for manufacturers, dealers, and consumers alike - to the benefit of the environist groups and government. As with the now-in-force "celluosic biofuels" mandate (that biofuels be produced from cellulose and not from plants that are otherwise human food stocks), there is no way that technology and industry can meet this deadline based on the modern business and new product cycle as controlled (and created) by government. Mama's Note: Not to mention that the whole idea of "zero emmision" transportation is impossible. Even walking produces some "emissions," depending on what they are talking about. And there are as many or more "emmissions" involved in producing the electricity for these vehicles as come from conventional engines. Theft by government There's a Triple Tax Increase in Your Future (Investor's Business Daily) Effectively, the expiration of the Bush tax cuts will triple the taxes on capital gains and dividend payouts overnight... We thought it has been bad in the past... Notice that not many GOP types are talking about this - and don't make me laugh to mention Democrats. Mama's Note: And then people will cry more about "outsourcing" and brain drain and capital flight... The productive people are leaving, or shrugging, just as fast as they can. Thursday, July 05, 2012 Self Defense NOT present California: L.A. cook allegedly gunned down over long wait time (Digital Journal) Police say the group of men began hurling racial slurs at the restaurant's employees, prompting other customers to leave, the Los Angeles Times says. Police said Lopez stepped in and tried to defuse the situation. At one point, he picked up a chair to shoo the men out of the restaurant. Lopez was successful in moving the five men out of the location, according to a statement released by police. "Once the men were outside, Lopez put down the chair, looked up and sawthe suspect remove a handgun from his clothing," the statement continued. "The suspect pointed the handgun and fired striking Lopez in the torso." Investigators say it was a semi-automatic weapon. Mama Liberty: This is just a few miles from where my sister lives... you know, the one who says she has no need to keep a gun, much less carry one. Nathan: There MIGHT have been a generation, in some parts of these disUnited States, from about 1920-1960, that did not need to have guns and did not suffer greatly by not having them. Today, no family should go unarmed, and in that I mean in each house - even each room (if family members are unwilling to carry), each car or truck, and other key places. A 9-mm HiPoint can still be purchased in most states for under $150 and while not the best weapon in the world, is still pretty good for the price and as a backup. It will eat most any ammo, even the cheap or hand-loaded stuff, and if you rotate and periodically train and fire the things, you can do this. Please do this. Mama's Additional Note: There are a number of good, used functional firearms available for less than $200. Lots of guns here for around $300. I had a HiPoint 9mm for quite a while, but it was nasty to shoot. Finally sold it and will soon take delivery of an XD 9mm. I know I'll enjoy shooting that one. If you can only have one gun - make it something you like to shoot because, unless you practice with it, you might as well not bother. World Wars Putin’s July 4th Message (Freedom Beacon.com) Russian nuclear-capable bombers intercepted near West Coast in second U.S. air defense zone intrusion in two weeks. Yes, it appears to be a test, in part because the Russians are probably having as hard a time understanding what the First Citizen is thinking as we are. If they were sure he is going to unilaterally reduce nuclear and missile defense forces, they would not do this for fear of triggering a backlash in Congress (unless they figure that he has THAT under control and they can act with impunity). But they are scratching their heads over his campaign and his weekly series of actions. Stupid UN - Hoploclasts As U.N. Finalizes Arms Trade Treaty, Opponents Warn of Global Gun Grab (CNSNews.com) Warning us so much, indeed, that we may be desensitized now that it is approaching completion and goes out to the various countries. Theft by and from government GAO: ‘Little is Known’ About Effectiveness of Gov’t Jobs Programs for Disabled (CNSNews.com) I suspect that all too much is known and that the truth would speed up the insurrection/rebellion that much more. I am certain that most of us know of "disabled" people who boast of their scamming the system - a LOT of those 8+ million people are certain to be doing so. First Citizen - Culture wars: killing babies Obama Thanks Those Who Have Defended the 'God-Given Right' to Life (CNSNews.com) The article is an interesting analysis of the Declaration’s “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” and points out (which we already knew) that the 1600 PA Occupier-in-Chief is a well-known hypocrite and lawy-- excuse me, liar. He doesn’t believe what he said at the military barbeque, but we knew that too - as did, I am sure, most of his audience (though some military families are, like any family, incredibly gullible and just dumb). He knows that IF he gets a second term, his survival will be dependent on enough military loyal to HIM and not to the Constitution to keep him in power: just the civilian, gun-toting jack-booted thugs will not be enough. Theft by government - Crash of 2009 Obama Admin Allots $1.8 Million to Place Women in Carpentry, Welding Jobs (CNSNews.com) What, we don’t have enough qualified men to do these? And if it took 9 BILLION bucks to create 9,000 jobs in green industries, how much will 1.8 million buy? Certainly not the 800,000 women out of work. Mama's Note: Oh, what a sick joke. Both of my sons so this kind of work, so I'm well aware of the requirements. I don't know very many women who are physically ABLE to do either job, and I never met one who would be willing to do it even if they were able. I'm sure there are some, but not many. Theft by government Consumers Asked to Pay More for Milk to Save New England Dairy Farms (CNSNews.com) That’s right. These places are critical to our economy, to national defense, and to the pride and self-respect of their owners and operators! Just like people who grow wheat and corn and sugar: they MUST be subsidized to protect them. Abominable Act - Theft by government Limbaugh: Who Cares If It's A Tax or a Penalty -- It's a Bad Law and We're Stuck With It (CNSNews.com) Too simple, Mr. Limbaugh! There IS a solution to being stuck with it - and it is NOT jury nullification (satisfying as that would be) because guess what, TAX COURTS DON’T HAVE JURIES! No, it is insurrection, rebellion, and secession: leave the empire and leave the politicos and scumbags, Nazgul and all, in DC to eat their own. It is time to fire them all. Again and again until it takes - or they are all gone. Abominable Act - Theft by government Romney, GOP Still Debating 'Tax vs. Penalty' Question (CNSNews.com) And looking like idiots while doing it. I agree with Limbaugh - except that ALL taxes and penalties like this are bad, and it is far from the only “bad law.” First Citizen - Politics 2012 Obama to Ohio, Pa. on Thursday; WH Calls It Obama's First Campaign Bus Tour (CNSNews.com) Like their boss, the WH flacks (or is that “flakes”) tell more lies than the truth. Islamic wars: Afghan front At Least 57 U.S. Soldiers Killed By Afghan National Security Forces (CNSNews.com) Defending their country, eh? Somehow, I think patriotism is the least of the reasons for these, which more often than not are suicide killings. Islamic wars: South Asian front Pakistani Gov’t Under Fire Over Agreement to Reopen NATO Supply Lines (CNSNews.com) Pakistan is still swaying back and forth balancing on the fence: apparently despite the rather bogus apology, Clinton was able to offer them enough baksheesh to get them to opt for a bit longer. I don’t think that Pakistani rulers really care if US drones kill Pakistanis - after all, they kill enough of their own. It is just that they have to squawk or the more hardcore Islamists will bauk, and they don’t think they get enough in “license fees” for the right to hunt down the tangos and to cover the collateral damage. Indeed, despite the flint-hard hearts of American leaders, I suspect that they agonize more over the deaths than do the powers that be in Islamabad. Friday, July 06, 2012 Crash of Europe We’ll always have Paris (El País) The economic woes endured by Greece, Spain and Italy, as well as the intricacies of Germany’s decision-making process, have long hogged the stage. But one country remains crucial to Europe’s future, where the debate on Europe could be revived: François Hollande’s France. This is, of course, a joke. Not because it is intended to be one, but because it is written by unreconstructed Frenchmen (written and edited and published): the result of a two-century-long breeding program that killed or drove out the best, the brightest, and the bravest, and left less spark than you can find in Rome. In practical terms, this is a way of saying that Europe has no hope at all. Crash of 2009 780,000 More Women Unemployed Today Than When Obama Took Office (CNSNews.com) Is this why he wants to train them all as carpenters and welders? Of course, the numbers of MEN unemployed, and even (I’m sure) transvestites, is up, also. It is (surely you know) all the fault of Bush II and Congress since 2010. Mama's Note: And these people seem to be forgetting that the policies of the last 150 years, but especially the last several administrations, have made going into and staying in any sort of business so difficult that there are no REAL jobs for these people regardless of their gender. Stupid UN - Theft by government U.N. Proposes Taxes on Billionaires, Polluters, Currency Transactions -- to Fund ‘Global Challenges’ (CNSNews.com) We never learn, do we? First it is billionaires, then millionaires, then anybody making more than $100,000, then $50,000, then... And polluters will soon include anyone breathing out dangerous greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, or flushing a toilet. And before you know it, “currency transactions” will include breaking a $5 bill or “buying” a roll of nickels. And this isn’t to fund “global challenges” unless you (correctly) consider a bloated UN bureaucracy and aristocracy to be a global challenge. Or automatic upgrades to “super-first-class” accommodation on airliners to be essential for world peace. Stupid FedGov - Theft by government HHS Tab for ‘Preservation and Maintenance’ of Native American [sic-AmerInd] Languages for 2011: $13,242,720 (CNSNews.com) Well, if you want to get rid of AmerInd languages, this is certainly the way to do it: let GOVERNMENT mess with it. I know a lot of people who work hard to teach and preserve their ancestral language, and I don’t know any of them who are using stolen money to do it. Anyone stupid enough to try and get grants to do so will find their time consumed with meeting government regulations and nothing left to actually teach and write. Stupid FedGov - Theft by government Obama Administration to Spend $20 Million on Green Energy Plan – For Africa (CNSNews.com) At least it isn’t 20 BILLION - but we know that this US interference will not really contribute ANYthing to “green energy” - just to the bank accounts of African despots and bureaucrats and military officials - whomever can skim off some bucks. This sort of thing shows that our government in many ways is as stupid as the suckers that buy into Nigerian scams. Abominable Act - Crash of 2009 Gallup: 46% Say Obamacare Will Hurt Economy, 37% Say It Will Help (CNSNews.com) And exactly how many of these poll respondents have the foggiest idea exactly WHAT the Abominable Act is requiring that impacts directly or indirectly on the economy? Polls are the extreme example of the stupidity of democracy: the idea that natural law (such as the laws of economics) can be decided by popular vote and a majority. Stupid UN - Stupid FedGov Administration Hails Positive Moves by U.N. Human Rights Council, But No Comment on ‘Right to Peace’ Vote (CNSNews.com) A “right to peace” makes about as much sense as a right to not be offended or a right to eternal (earthly) life or the hundreds of other bogus rights that people make up more and more. The only “positive moved” by the HRC would be a unanimous vote to disband the worthless body. Culture wars: killing babies - Tranzis have falling out Euro MPs Condemn Forced Abortion in China, Call for Probe into EU Funding of Chinese Family Planning (CNSNews.com) What on earth is the EU, beggaring itself and on the verge of dissolution, doing funding things like this for the world’s second largest economy? We KNOW the answer of course - they are Europeans. They have lost their religion, lost their culture, and are a dying breed. It is a place where 8 great-grandparents have 4 children, who have 2, who have 1 child, who immigrates to Canada or Australia. Leaving an empty land for the children of Allah, or to be expanded into by China (although China’s one-child policy is creating its own massive problems with more to come). Of course, I’m reading both Mark Steyn’s “America Alone” and Tom Kratman’s “The Caliphate” (described by one reviewer as “America Alone” with blood and gore.” Stories like this support Steyn’s AND Kratman’s thesis. Crash of 2009 - American front Alberta, Canada Recruiting U.S. Veterans for 114,000 Jobs (CNSNews.com) An interesting tale. This is somewhat related to the Keystone XL pipeline, but only indirectly. Alberta (most republican of the Provinces, if flaming liberal by US standards) is doing the same thing as the other resource monsters like Arabia - bringing in guest workers. But they want English speakers with good discipline and highly skilled work experience, so they look to a nation with too many people looking for two few jobs. And Canada, because it significantly cut government spending, especially at the Federal level, is in far better financial shope, though if the US spins and crashes, can Canada be far behind? Abominable Act - Crash of 2009 Gallup: Fewer Adults Getting Health Insurance Through Employer (CNSNews.com) And fewer and fewer will - cheaper to pay the Abominable Act tax and fall into line. Of course, there is no real logic to having employers provide it - although it is a fact of life for many and the adjustment will be very VERY hard. Medical Tech “The emergence of effective phytochemicals is an entirely disruptive development with enormous potential consequences,” (agorafinancial.com) [So] says Patrick Cox. “Phytochemicals” are naturally occurring compounds in plants. “Scientists estimate that there may be as many as 10,000 different phytochemicals having the potential to affect diseases such as cancer, stroke or metabolic syndrome,” according to Wikipedia. The most important investment implication: They’re not subject to FDA regulation. They’re not drugs, so they can come to market easily. “Market forces are like water flowing downhill,” says Patrick. “Markets always evolve ways of circumventing artificial obstructions, eventually.” That is, increasingly onerous FDA rules have opened the way for “nutraceuticals” to grab market share. Patrick has his eye on three of them...
Agora Financial agorafinancial.com Nathan: I defer to Mama on this - but any time I can replace a manmade pharma product with a natural one, I will. Don't like medicine! Mama's Note: The problem is that once they are isolated and put into supplement form, the FDA does take active interest... and no "claims" for health benefits or curing properties can be made for them. And, obviously, they are working hard to gain control of ALL food and supplements. I think these are wonderful ideas in many ways, but I wouldn't get too giddy about them being widely available on the free market. Many products will join marijuana on the verbotten list, I'm sure, if found to be truly effective and people begin to demand them - especially if the FDA can manage to engineer some "deaths" or "birth defects" they can attribute to them. Personally, I'd much rather eat tomatoes and blueberries. I'm not too enthusiastic for nutrients isolated from all the others nature intended to be a package deal. We don't know enough about it. :) The choice isn't just between modern pharmacy "medicine" and capsules full of "natural chemicals." Wherever possible, and as much as possible, the rational choice is whole, fresh foods, a healthy mindset and elimination of chronic stress. There is so much more to health than diet, important as that is. Home Front Arizona: Government Thugs and An Old Man (Agora Financial) A frail old man harassed by government agents for no reason, forced to stand in the blazing heat for 45 minutes, and then sent on his way. But this didn’t happen at an airport. Nor did it happen at the border. And if it can happen to a former governor of Arizona, it can surely happen to you. “I don’t condemn them for doing a job,” says Raul Castro, “but once I was identified and I was 96 years of age and told them I had medical treatment the day before, I expected a little more.” It was Mr. Castro’s medical treatment that got him in trouble. On June 12, his car set off a radiation sensor operated by Customs and Border Protection. Understandable — he’d gone to the hospital to have his pacemaker tested the previous day. So he was sent to “secondary inspection” where the officious officials did their officiating for 45 minutes, refusing to let him wait in his air-conditioned car. Then they asked him to sign some documents and let him go on his way... to his 96th birthday party. “I was embarrassed,” says family friend Anne Doan, who was driving the car, “as I watched the governor being needlessly treated like a nuclear threat.” Here’s the thing: Although Mr. Castro was stopped by Customs and Border Protection, he crossed no border. He was traveling from Nogales, Ariz., north to Tucson. The checkpoint on Interstate 19 where he was stopped lies 24 miles north of the border. This reminds South Dakotans of a similar incident several years ago, in which former Governor, State Adjutant General, and NFL Commissioner Joe Foss was detained (also in Arizona, as I recall) because he tried to board an airliner with a deadly weapon in his carry-on baggage. You see, Joe Foss was a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, and the deadly weapon was the sharp edge and pin clasp on the back of the Medal, which they tried to confiscate. (For his own story of that, click here. Imagine trying to steal the Medal of Honor from an old man. Detaining another old man for apparently attempting to smuggle nuclear material from Nogales to Tuscon, within the 100-mile zone along the borders and coasts that the ACLU calls the "Constitution-Free Zone" (they still believe the Constitution means something), well, is there yet another reason to pray for rebellion, insurrection, and secession? Is it not time to take back our liberty from the gangs of murderous counter-revolutionaries that we allowed to steal it from us? Is it not time? QUOTE OF THE WEEK - THE NEED FOR INSURRECTION AND REBELLION NOW "Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed, if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not so costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance for survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no chance of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." -- Sir Winston Churchill **************** Your comments and feedback are welcome!
