Commentary on The News
Posted July 02, 2012By Nathan A. Barton © 2012 Weekend stories Local news: Fire season is sweeping the West, along with higher than normal temperatures for the end of June. In the Black Hills, two significant forest fires are being fought near Spearfish in the north and near Jewel Cave in the south. while a massive grassland fire is being fought in the Powder River Basin to the west in Wyoming. Utah saw 1500 homes (9000 people) evacuated because of another large fire. But the worst is in Colorado. West and northwest of Fort Collins, a fire has consumed over 84,000 acres and almost 300 homes and continues to grow. The small city of Manitou Springs immediately west of the major city of Colorado Springs has been evacuated as a large fire is being fought there, while dozens of homes have been destroyed and large areas evacuated in Estes Park, the gateway city to Rocky Mountain National Park. And in the southwest, a large fire continues to burn after more than a month near Pagosa Springs, while a new fire, just three days old, has already consumed 7,000+ acres (as I write this on Monday morning) and threatens the town of Mancos near Mesa Verde, filling two counties with dense smoke. Tens of millions of dollars are being spent to fight the fires, while once again local communities learn the foolishness of depending on federal aid to fight them. Meanwhile, in the rest of the world, it too is “burning” – politically with the Euro Crisis continuing to consume much of the energy of the EU and its neighbors, the Ummah its normal peaceful self burning in all directions, the US getting hit by the Supreme Court, and Japan still trembling in the political and social aftershocks of the quake and tsumami. Self defense Arizona: 14-year-old Phoenix boy shoots armed intruder (Albany Democrat-Herald) "The teen and his siblings, ages 8, 10 and 12, were at home alone when a woman rang the doorbell Friday afternoon, Phoenix police Officer James Holmes said. The teen didn't open the door because he didn't recognize the woman. Soon after, the teen heard a loud bang on the door, rushed his siblings upstairs and got a handgun from his parent's bedroom. When he got to the top of the stairs, he saw a man break through the front door and point a gun at him. The boy shot the 37-year-old man, who was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition and underwent surgery." (06/23/12) Mama Liberty: Wonderful story. And just think, in far too many other places all of those children might well have died... because the boy would not have been able to access the gun - and/or would not have known what to do with it. Nathan: The West found many young men like this (I subscribe to the Jewish idea that adulthood comes about age 13 or so, just not all adult responsibilities and liberties), who took up arms to defend home and family. Self defense Washington: Teens pick wrong jogger to grope (Fox News) "Two teenagers got more than they bargained for when a Washington state woman they attempted to assault turned out to be an expert in martial arts. KATU reports that Priscilla Dang was jogging in her Vancouver neighborhood last Friday when she was approached by two teenagers on their bikes. One pulled in front of her as the other groped her from behind. Fortunately for Dang she had studied Kung Fu for 18 years at a martial arts school owned by her family. She used the training to teach her attacker some manners." [editor's note: A lesson for all women, and a caution for all men, of whatever age - SAT] (06/22/12) Mama Liberty: Good deal! This is another good story. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee the muggers will wait for 18 years while you learn this stuff... Nathan: Whereas, you can learn to defend yourself with a knife or pistol in a few weeks (not that I recommend a knife). As for Steve’s snide little comment, NO, Steve, ALL men do NOT need this kind of caution: there are still a few men who have respect for women and do not go up and start fondling strange women - or even women they KNOW - in public (or private). If you think, Steve, that “all men” need to be cautioned not to do that, then you are precisely the kind of scumbag who apparently is at least tempted to do this sort of stunt, and for whom a woman SHOULD carry a pistol, preferably with nice frangible bullets that throughly perforate the stomach and intestines or heart and lungs. Home front – Islamic wars Virginia: Man faces sentence for threat to "South Park" (Arizona Republic) "A Muslim convert from Brooklyn was sentenced Friday to nearly 12 years in prison for posting online threats against the creators of the South Park television show and others he deemed enemies of Islam. The sentence -- largely in line with the term sought by prosecutors -- came after Jesse Curtis Morton, 33, offered an apology for his conduct, saying he 'contributed to a clash of civilizations' by espousing a violent ideology." (06/23/12) The question here is whether or not this was a legitimate threat or just someone boasting (talking out of their hat, so to speak)? If he was a serious threat, a 12 year sentence might be appropriate – if he was stupidly boasting about nothing, he deserves a few hundred hours of Useful Public Service but not much more. Home front – Stupid government Utah: Herbert blames wildfires on ... gun owners? (Christian Science Monitor) "Some of the wildfires scorching the West this year were sparked by unusual culprits: Gun owners. Or, more specifically, gun shooters. As with the Dump fire in Utah, which flared hard enough on Friday to force the evacuation of 1,500 homes and 9,000 people, nearly two dozen conflagrations, officials say, have started accidentally by careless target shooters whose bullet sparks touch off dried-up pinon and wild grasses." [editor's note: One more case of needing to go after careless idiots, instead of painting a group with the same brush - SAT] (06/23/12) Steve and we all know that ANY opportunity to smear gun owners will be seized by the hoploclasts, and this is no different. It has been echoed by many others, and is no more true than many claims about the evils of gun owning. Monday, June 25, 2012 Nazgul-in-chief – Home front (border jumpers) Supreme Court Leaves Arizona's Immigration Law on Shaky Ground (CNSNews.com) Although the logic of the decision and the three points overturned, this idea of “shaky ground” sounds a bit flaky to me: I see this decision as a rather nice reasserting of a basic fact: the states are sovereign. It doesn’t go nearly FAR enough (but then, we are talking the Nazgul!) First Citizen’s minions – Lies and corruption Biden in 2007: ‘Executive Privilege Only Covers Communications Between the President and His Advisors’ (CNSNews.com) That WAS, of course, before this piece of art was made Second Citizen (excuse me, Chief Lackey of the First Citizen) when there was someone of the other half of the party-in-power in office. That was then, this is now, when the Messiah is in control and can do whatever is needed to “save” America. First Citizen – Culture wars 25% Fewer Men Than Women Graduate College; Obama: It's ‘A Great Accomplishment ... For America' (CNSNews.com) Sex discrimination is sex discrimination. Who can see anything to celebrate? Mama's Note: Far more important than the sex of the student is the question of how many graduate with something they can use to earn a living. I've met people with a graduate degree... mowing lawns and babysitting. The lucky ones are those who discover a job they love early in the game, regardless of what it might be. First Citizen Gallup: 44% Don’t Know Obama’s Religion; 11% Say He’s Muslim; 8% Say He Has None (CNSNews.com) Of course, this poll is like so many others: I doubt if 44% of them can find DC on a map of the US. And of course, who knows just how the question was asked. Same thing for the next bit of news: First Citizen Gallup: 54% of Americans Would Vote for an Atheist for President (CNSNews.com) I would suspect to many people it doesn’t matter any more WHAT religion the POTUS is, just as long as he leaves us alone: an attitude the Jews of Russia had for many years concerning the Tsar. But as is more and more obvious, NO politician who has any chance whatsoever of being elected has ANY morals, ethics, or concept of anything but power, and for all intents and purposes are PRACTICAL atheists. Culture wars: killing babies Human Rights Groups Warn of Eugenics As European Court Mulls Down Syndrome Case (CNSNews.com) A Latvian woman who give birth to a girl with Down syndrome in June 2002 is arguing that she should have been given a blood screening test as part of “prenatal care.” Anita Kruzmane argues that had she undergone the test, she would have been in a position to decide whether to go ahead with the pregnancy. ... Puppinck noted that in France, 96 percent of unborn babies diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted. After the meeting, an Italian lawmaker, Luca Volonte, plans to submit a resolution to the PACE, reminding states of their obligations toward people with disabilities. “Under European and international law, States have an obligation to protect the life and health of every person, in particular people with disabilities,” said Puppinck. Kruzmane’s case has alarmed pro-life and other rights activists. The complaint reads in part, “The applicant complains under Article 8 of the Convention that, owing to the negligence of a doctor, she was denied adequate and timely medical care in the form of an antenatal screening test which would have indicated the risk of her fetus having a genetic disorder and which would have allowed her to choose whether to continue the pregnancy.” “The Convention” refers to the European Convention of Human Rights. Article 8 states: “Everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life, his home and his correspondence. There shall be no interference by a public authority with the exercise of this right except such as is in accordance with the law and is necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security, public safety or the economic well-being of the country, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of others.” I suspect that my thoughts here will be anathema to many “libertarians” because I believe - based on scientific AND religious grounds - that “fetuses” are as much human as a newborn, a pre-speech-capable child, a pre-teen, an adult, or an elderly (even senile) person. (I have to reserve judgement on teenagers on a case-by-case basis <grin>.) Imagine what this child will have to put up with as she grows up. No maternal love in THIS relationship. HER mother wishes that she had been killed before birth! But this is not the only point of this story and this comment. Read that Article 8 slowly and carefully. What a SICKENING mess of caveats and loopholes. Who defines when the “interest” of “economic well-being” results in a “need” for a government bureaucrat or other goon to rip open and read your e-mail, or listen into your phone-calls, or decide to take your child away, or spy on your bedroom or bathroom. What exactly is “disorder?” (To a famous French “democratically-elected” president, it was when ALL the children of the same age in French classrooms were not studying from the same page in the same textbook!) Who defines “morals?” Is it the imam around the corner in the Madrassa? Or the RC priest in the parish hall? Or the post-christian “Reformed Church” minister on his state-provided salary? Or the majority of paedophiles who outshouted and intimidated the rest of the town hall meeting? And how is “protection of health” defined? “My son is allergic to peanuts, so NO one in the 1500 students in his school can have peanuts, peanut butter or Nutella?” And finally, would SOMEONE explain to me what the difference is between “rights” and “freedoms” when we are speaking of “others” (individuals)? What a puling waste of time this “Convention of Human Rights” is. Theft by government Study: More Than Half a Trillion Dollars Spent on Welfare – But Poverty Levels Unaffected (CNSNews.com) I would hardly say that poverty levels were unaffected. Without that 500 billion dollar drain on the economy, coupled with 500 billion dollars SUBSIDIZING welfare, we would find that today we would have far LESS poverty than we did in the mid-1960s (IF, of course, we didn’t keep raising the level at which government defines poverty - yet another issue. “Only in America” do families in poverty have multiple automobiles (except maybe in San Fran or NYC), have a cell phone for each member of the family, and have a cable TV subscription; “Only in America” is “poverty” associated with very high levels of obesity, and do stores and other businesses advertise targeting the “poor.” Only in America do we run ads on radio and television encouraging people to come in and sign up for food stamps. No, we have MORE poverty, not less, because we spent $500,000,000,000 dollars - including a lot when a dollar was WORTH something. First Citizen’s minions – Islamic wars: Afghan front Biden, in Leaked Memo, Told Obama the Afghanistan 'Surge' Plan Was Flawed (CNSNews.com) Hey, this was Uncle Joe - you don’t expect even his BOSS to listen to him, do you? And indeed, if the Chief Flunky of the First Citizen said this, it would be one STRONG piece of evidence that the plan might not be too bad. Congress in action – First Citizen’s minions Rep. Allen West: ‘You Don’t Invoke Executive Privilege Unless You Had Some Involvement in This Operation’ (CNSNews.com) Actually, with the First Citizen-Messiah, you do: think of it as the kid who KNOWS that he will get in trouble if he gets into the cookie jar, but just can’t resist. ANYthing that the First Citizen can do to get another excuse to say how mean Congress is being to him or how the other wing of the party hates him because he is black (and with Holder, he got a twofer!) is just grist for the mill of getting his base to support him AND to have an excuse for rejecting any election results he wants to. Politics 2012 Poll: Young Voters Lean Conservative on Abortion, Religious Freedom (CNSNews.com) Sorry, but being against abortion and being FOR religious freedom are NOT “conservative values” - they are values of liberty. They are values that even liberals once shared: I’d call them “American values” but THAT phrase doesn’t mean much any more. Still, I’m glad to hear that more and more young voters think that abortion is wrong and religious freedom is right. First Citizen – Europe’s Collapse Germany Rebuffs Obama's Advice on Euro Crisis: Deal With Your Own Debt (CNSNews.com) Well, they may be a bunch of greenie, socialist, welfare-bum, dhimmitude-bound, Eurotrash, Tranzi revanchists, but this time they get a round of applause. The First Citizen is certainly NOT a jelly doughnut (ein Berliner!). Stupid people – Con artists Los Angeles Museum Unveils New Artwork: A 340-Ton Rock (CNSNews.com) $10 million, 340-tons, 456-foot long (masonry) trench for people to walk under. 11-day, 22-city trip to haul from Riverside to the Los Angles County Museum of Art. Apparently, the day of the big con-artists is not over, eh? (I mean, the “non-political” ones - not the REAL pro’s like the First Citizen.) I couldn’t find out who paid for it but I suspect that the taxpayers of LA County, California, and via the “National Endowment for the Arts” the US taxpayers footed MOST of the bill. Oh, no doubt some foundations or trust funds or stupid people also paid some, but it takes governments to really get into funding this kind of thing. War on some drugs DEA Agent Kills Drug Trafficker in Honduras; Raid Is Part of Aggressive New Strategy (CNSNews.com) Apparently, the DEA doesn’t get enough opportunities to kill Americans, they have to find prey elsewhere so that they stay in practice, or get their kicks, or whatever. A drug trafficker is often the scum of the earth, I admit - in large part because when you don’t have access to basic things like courts to resolve issues and can’t compete openly and fairly, your hiring pool is pretty limited. But even scumbags deserve justice, not revenge, and maybe a wee bit of mercy now and then. Even the DEA jack-booted thug deserves a fair trial and a quick execution! As for “aggressive new strategy” - well, it sounds like the same old strategy that goes back to Elliott Ness. I am sure that the Drug Lords are constantly coming up with new ways to avoid having to do business in banana republics and with nutcase rebel groups: submarine grow set-ups and old abandoned NYC subways maybe. This won’t end the drug trade, just raise the risks (and therefore the profits) a bit. Government-Ruined, Theft-Funded Schools Washington: Tacoma School Sunscreen Ban Leaves Student Severely Sunburned (Yahoo.com)
Lost freedoms – Theft by government So You Think You Can Be a Hair Braider? (New York Times via Daily Policy Digest) Jestina Clayton grew up in a village in Sierra Leone where every girl learns traditional African hair-braiding. After coming to the United States at age 18 and graduating college at age 22, she opened her own hair-braiding operation in Utah, catering her services specifically to African children who had been adopted by local families, says the New York Times. Clayton's operation continued until she came up against the state's regulatory requirements for being a professional hair braider. In order to continue in the trade she had maintained since childhood, Clayton would have to take two years of school (which taught little of the African style of braiding), costing $16,000 in tuition. Clayton's situation is not unique. · There are more than 1,000 licensed professions in the United States, partly a result of more than a century of legal work. · As the country industrialized, state governments wanted to protect their citizens and create standards not just for lawyers and doctors but also for basic services. · It didn't take long for professional groups to find that they also stood to benefit from the regulations. · Over the years, more and more started to lobby for licensing rules, often grandfathering in existing professionals while putting up high barriers to new competitors. · In fact, businesses contorting regulation to their own benefit is so common that economists have a special name for it: regulatory capture. The result is that the modern marketplace is plagued with licensing requirements, examinations and government oversight of numerous occupations that have little potential for harming the public.· In 1950, fewer than 5 percent of Americans worked in jobs that required licenses. · Today, it's roughly 30 percent, and that number is likely to grow. · These barriers to occupation entry are especially damaging in a time when labor markets are already fragile: they close off entire sectors to out-of-work adults for no other reason than that interest groups are seeking protection from the competition they might offer. During this economic recovery, a crucial element of putting Americans back to work will be for them to shift out of dying occupations and into those that are in high demand. This necessitates the kind of labor mobility that these regulations restrict. This is the latest in a series of stories about this crime – it has been sneaking up on us for years. I think it is safe to say that EVERY American has been impacted by this even if ONLY 30 percent of us have to have them (not counting drivers licenses, of course). We have to realize that this happened in Roman times as well, and I think again that it happened in pre-revolutionary France. Self defense OH: Off-duty cop kills robber (ABC 13 News) "A Toledo man was shot and killed after he tried to rob another man early Saturday morning. The man who opened fire in self defense is a Walbridge police officer, according to Toledo Police. Detectives say the officer and a friend were walking to the friend's home. Johnson confronted the pair at gunpoint demanding money. Police say that's when the off-duty officer pulled out his gun and fired, hitting Johnson at least once." (06/23/12) Mama’s comments: A cop shot and killed a street criminal in the act. Amazing... The news report actually does know who was the "victim" here... But they went on and on about this being a cop. How often does the media report something like this: "The man who opened fire in self defense is a local electrician..." And he shot the guy 6 times? Wonder what he was shooting, a .22? Maybe he needs more range time, or ? I wonder at which point the threat stopped... and if he kept shooting after that. Rendering "first aid" after six hits is sort of an ironic twist... Glad it will go to a grand jury, but I'd think a coroner's inquest would be sufficient. Nice for him he gets a vacation out of it. :) Nathan: I think that police are often NOT as well trained and do NOT react as well when they have to defend themselves as an “ordinary” person. The entire situation is much different than what their Police Academy training covers. Quote of the Day: "As our president bears no resemblance to a king so we shall see the Senate has no similitude to nobles. First, not being hereditary, their collective knowledge, wisdom, and virtue are not precarious. For by these qualities alone are they to obtain their offices, and they will have none of the peculiar qualities and vices of those men who possess power merely because their father held it before them." --Tench Coxe, An American Citizen, No. 2, 1787 Today, we would have to ask what Mr. Coxe was smoking: we have a “president” which (save perhaps for the Saudi king) is afforded more boot-licking and ceremony and protocol and security than any official monarch in the world: one in whose august presence elected officials of his own party are not allowed to have table knives and forks; one whose every visit to any city is accompanied by hordes of security guns armed with virtually everything but nukes, and accompanied by his personal barber and his consort’s modern equivalent of ladies in waiting and maids of service. And the Senate? It is not OFFICIALLY hereditary, but need we look farther than such families as Gores and Kennedys and Byrds and Udalls, to say nothing of the consort of a former First Citizen and much more? Certainly it is difficult to name more than a handful (five fingers, if that) who sit in that side of the Capitol whose “knowledge, wisdom, and virtue” (or any ONE of the three) matches (let alone exceeds) that of a 1930s era teenager with below-average education and intelligence! TSA Agent Spills Grandfather's Ashes and Jokes About It (RawStory.com) A TSA agent opened a jar of the ashes of a relative belonging to a passenger, proceeded to stick her finger in the ashes spilling them, and then laughed about it. Godfather Politics: Another example of the cream of the crap working for the Testicle Squeezing Authoritarians. All the man is demanding is an apology from the TSA and screener. Nathan: “We don’t make no steenking apologies” – for doing their job of treating us all like dirt. Tuesday, June 26, 2012 Culture wars: killing babies – First Citizen’s minions Clinton Disappointed That Rio Text Includes Family Planning but Omits ‘Reproductive Rights’ (CNSNews.com) I am so upset that she is disappointed. Perhaps if she concentrated on what SHOULD be the business of the State Department, she’d not have the time to be frustrated like this. Mama's Note: No, that wouldn't take any time at all! The "state department" has no legitimate business, so that "should" would be a big, round zero. She would also be frustrated no matter what she did or where she went, simply because she can't figure out how to control everything hereself. First Citizen’s minions – DOJ Thuggery Issa: E-Mails Suggest Operation Fast and Furious Would Be Used to Bolster Assault Weapons Ban, Greater Reporting (CNSNews.com) Even the original limited information about F&F made this clear. As A. X. Perez points out, even the mainstream media is having a very hard time ignoring it now. (As an aside, it is too bad that Perez’ article and its potential to impact on people was so badly compromised by poor editing to correct obvious errors in spelling and grammar, but that is a different subject, I suppose.) Of course, now that the First Citizen has claimed executive privilege, HE HAS NOW BOUGHT INTO THE F&F SCANDAL. Impeachment? Maybe it WOULD be justified. First Citizen’s minions – DHS Thuggery Gov. Brewer: Obama Shows 'Utter Disregard' for Arizona in Canceling Immigration Enforcement Program (CNSNews.com) She is only stating what, again, has been obvious about the immigration issues, F&F, and many other items. The rotten system is rapidly “maturing” - the FedGov doesn’t need to pay any attention to the states anymore: the former employee is now their master. First Citizen – Politics 2012 Obama Plugs Birth Control and Planned Parenthood in Speech at High School (CNSNews.com) Got to keep the population down and in thrall to the government, after all. He fondly believes that all of them worship him. Nazgul-in-chief – DHS Thuggery Scalia: AZ Decision Deprives Sovereign States From Excluding ‘People Who Have No Right to Be There’ (CNSNews.com) "If securing its territory in this fashion is not within the power of Arizona, we should cease referring to it as a sovereign state," Scalia said. This is, no doubt, a surprise to more than just me, that three of the Nazgul would actually still believe that states should be sovereign and independent, especially in a matter when the FedGov’s authority is founded on rather dubious constitutional grounds in the first place. The SCOTUS decision might not have been the best, but the response it triggered from the Administration again exposes the lawlessness of the FedGov. DOJ Thuggery Official Figures Show Steady Decline in DOJ Criminal Immigration Prosecutions (CNSNews.com) This, of course, matches the steady decline in prosecution of such things as voter fraud, corruption of federal employees, violation of rights by cops, and other politically-correct “un-crimes”, and is the inverse of the increase of such things as lies by the First Citizen and other executive branch officials, and attacks on states for attempting to exercise their sovereignty. Politics 2012 – Nazgul-in-chief McConnell: SCOTUS Campaign Finance Decision an ‘Important Victory’ for Free Speech (CNSNews.com) Maybe, but our recognized right is such a pale shadow of its former self as to be nearly invisible. Montana’s Supremes were stupid, but this is NOT going to repair things very much. Nazgul-in-chief – Congress in action – DOJ Thuggery Lawmakers React along Party Lines to Supreme Court Ruling on Arizona Immigration Law (CNSNews.com) Duh. As I point out below, they are milking it very well. Nazgul-in-chief – DOJ Thuggery Napolitano Says DHS Will Continue to Decide Which Illegals to Detain, Deport Despite SCOTUS Decision (CNSNews.com) Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah! The First Citizen’s minion give the Nazgul the finger. Home front – Border jumpers Rubio Says Politicians Have No Incentive to Solve the Nation’s Immigration Problem (CNSNews.com) Of course they don't - not when they can milk it (on BOTH sides) for more and more votes and power and money. It has worked well for close to 40 years, why not ANOTHER 40? Eventually, when a Latino and/or Muslim coalition has a majority in Congress, a REAL crackdown on immigration (and emigration) will be created and enforced, just like we see in Mexico, Egypt, Persia (Iran) and other places. Nazgul-in-chief – Culture wars Justice Alito: Mt. Soledad Cross Case ‘Not Yet Ripe’ for Supreme Court to Review (CNSNews.com) Not yet ripe, or not rotten stinking enough? Nanny State Gov't Panel Urges Doctors to Screen Every Adult for Obesity by Calculating BMI (CNSNews.com) No doubt the government encourages doctors (or REQUIRES them) to take a patient’s temperature and blood pressure too. These doctors are so incredibly stupid that the government has to tell them exactly what to do, to protect Americans. That is such a shame. Mama's Note: Taking the vital signs is one thing. Knowing what to do with that information is quite another. The role of the doctor is to assess the facts and offer options to the patient. What has gotten screwed up is the expectation by government, doctors and patients themsevles, that the options are no longer (or should not be) the choice and responsibility of the patients and families. But people can and must take responsibility for their own health and wellness. The ever increasing pressure from government should be a terrific incentive to do so, not really a barrier. First, determine to eliminate as many bad health habits as possible, seek wellness through diet and exercise - as well as serious stress management. Eliminate, as much as possible, all of the chemical "medicine" that the modern doctor now substitutes for real health care. Look for and be willing to pay for alternative health care as much as possible. Seek and find the underground sources for the professional care you actually must have. Stupid people – Stupid cops Carpooling Discouraged at George Washington Bridge (WALL STREET JOURNAL) With toll hikes, more drivers are picking up hitchhikers before the George Washington Bridge in a mutually beneficial relationship; in response, local police are cracking down on the practice... YOU GET MORE OF WHAT YOU SUBSIDIZE. And cops will ALWAYS find some way to increase revenues, both for themselves (fines for illegal hitchhikers) and for other government agencies (the toll-takers). And guess who comes out on the short end? Theft by government Solyndra Not the Only Questionable Obama Loan to "Green" Energy (U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT) Under the Department of Energy's 1705 program, 26 projects were funded with guaranteed loans amounting to roughly $16 billion; 2,378 permanent jobs were claimed to be created under the program -- a potential cost per job of $6.7 million... And amazingly, this is JUST the direct cost of each job. Ain’t guvmint WUNNERFUL? In Colorado this is particularly angering, because a Longmont company was one of those $400 million prize winners which spent it and then went bankrupt, while less than 50 miles away hundreds of homes have been destroyed by fire which MIGHT have been prevented if either the money had been spent to buy firefighting aircraft OR left in our hands to pay for those things. Islamic wars: Home front Muslim mob stones christians (American Vision News) Christians walking peacefully with signs displaying Christian messages during a Muslim festival in Dearborn, MI were attacked with flying stones, shoes, bottles, eggs, and other debris, injuring some. Police finally arrived on the scene only to ignore the violent Muslim mob and to demand that the evangelists leave. This sounds like the story should be datelined in Cairo or Damascus, not the formerly free and sovereign State of Michigan. More and more, Islamic violence spreads to North America. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 Nanny state New Disability Regs Limit Slope of Mini Golf Holes, Require Businesses to Admit Mini Horses as Guide Animals (CNSNews.com) There is, of course, NO detail of life too small to micromanage by government bureaucrats, politicos, and do-gooders. No doubt we shall see great apes and Norway rats featured as “guide animals” next. Nanny State – War on religion German Court Makes Circumcision for Religious Reasons a Crime (CNSNews.com) Prof. Fred Ehrlich of the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at the University of New South Wales in Australia ...[a surgeon and mohel said of the ruling] it was “stupid, if nothing else, but then we know the law is an ass.” I say, isn’t this just a wee bit antisemitic? AND anti-Islamic? It is okay to kill the baby in the womb, but to circumcise it later constitutes grievous bodily harm and mutilation? Theft by government – Nanny state Obama Administration Issuing Grants to Keep Returning Troops Employed--By Government (CNSNews.com) We don’t need cops like this, and we don’t need soldiers already traumatized by their abuse by Congress and the First Citizen overseas to be treated like this. They need and want real jobs. Congress in action Hoyer Accuses House GOP of ‘Creating a Distraction' and ‘Confrontation’ Over Holder, Jobs (CNSNews.com) Well, the intent of F&F was to distract voters and observers from the real reason for keeping and bearing arms, so this is, at worst, tit for tat and at best poetic justice. An impeachment trial would certainly be more of distraction from the First Citizen’s and Tranzis’ agenda and the election, but not the way they want. First Citizen’s minions – Stupid government Clinton's 'Smart Power' Brings Tunisian Athletes to USA for Swimming Clinics and 'Conflict Resolution' (CNSNews.com) Oh, now THIS is a valuable use of money stolen from American taxpayers or grandchildren. And all we need are more Islamists bringing violence to the US. Politics 2012 Tea Party-Backed Candidate Wins Okla. Congressional Primary, Orrin Hatch Wins in Utah (CNSNews.com) Defeating a tea-party-backed candidate. Hatch has long outlived his usefulness to anyone except those who want MORE government and spending and welfare and taxes: obviously a majority of the GOP members who bothered to vote in Utah this week. Of course, this same thing was happening in other primaries across the region: one county in particular in which two tea-party-affiliated, reform candidates for commission seats were defeated decisively by two members of the good-ole-boy network. Politics 2012 – First Citizen Obama Making Third Bus Tour Next Week, But This One's Official Campaign Business (CNSNews.com) Like his trip to Colorado Springs to sympathize with the forest fire victims WON”T be “official campaign business” but WILL be “official government business” with a lot of “vote for me, I love you” thrown in. Just a more expensive version of ambulance chasing. Where are all the adults these days? Hallmark accused of bashing Tea Party (Fox News) "Lennie Jarratt’s children had gone to Walmart over the weekend in search of a gradation card for a family friend. But instead they found a Hallmark card that has generated outrage within the Tea Party community -- along with calls for a national boycott. The card, published by Hallmark, features an image of President Obama on the cover declaring, 'You graduated! Time to go to a lot of parties!' The inside of the card reads, 'But avoid those tea parties if you can. Trust me.'" [editor's note: I've seen people get upset over some minor league stuff before, but this goes beyond mere petulant silliness and well into "manufactured outrage" territory - TLK] (06/27/12) Mama Liberty: Where are all the adults these days? Nathan: This does sound childish AND very much like your standard Tranzi whinger. It is said that the longer your fight your enemy, the more you resemble him. Self Defense? CA: Man with permitted concealed weapon stops restaurant robbery (San Jose Mercury News) "A Vallejo man carrying a legal concealed weapon halted a reported robbery in progress at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Subway sandwich restaurant in the 600 block of Lewis Brown Road, Sgt. Jeff Bassett said. Bassett said a suspect entered the restaurant and ordered a sandwich, and when the clerk was finished with it, he brandished a knife and demanded cash. Meanwhile, the man, described as a 25-year-old Vallejoan with a permit for a concealed weapon, drew his gun and confronted the suspect who ran out of the restaurant before he was able to take anything." (06/25/12) Mama Liberty: I realize this is California... so the "permit" talk is knee jerk requirement. It just seems sickening to keep repeating it as if the word "gun" can't be printed without that designation each time. What is amazing is that anyone in Calif. who actually carries would be willing to draw in this situation. The potential for serious problems is pretty clear. Glad he didn't have to shoot. ( But... snicker, snicker... I'll bet the guy with the knife darn near filled his pants. They sure don't expect any resistance, most of the time, and a drawn gun would be a real shocker.) Nathan: Clearly, the press wants to give the idea to the reader that this is a rare thing: that usually crimes are stopped by people withOUT legally-concealed firearms. Of course, that might backfire on them, but what else can they do? Thursday, June 28, 2012 QUOTE OF THE DAY: "Nothing so strongly impels a man to regard the interest of his constituents, as the certainty of returning to the general mass of the people, from whence he was taken, where he must participate in their burdens." --George Mason, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788 Little did our esteemed founder, Mr. Mason, realize that the elastic and inventive (and lazy) minds of Congress would come up with a way for even a one- or two-term representative to NOT participate in the burdens of the general mass of the people, by making themselves a nobility every BIT as wealthy and protected as any Life Peer of the United Kingdom, with generous retirement benefits of every kind imaginable, and exemption (de jure or de facto) from most of the restrictions placed upon everyone else but the august 535 (plus “delegates” and cabinet-level and above in the Executive Branch, and retired Nazgul above a certain rank...). Indeed one might argue that exempting themselves from having to regard the interest of their constituents might be an even more compelling reason to exempt themselves from the regulations, taxation, cost-sharing and all the other burdens placed upon their enemies - excuse me, their constituents. European Council and Collapse Europe’s Vietnam (La Repubblica) On the eve of an umpteenth “last chance summit,” leaders of the EU’s 27 member states are continuing to stick to their guns, vainly hoping that the crisis will simply resolve itself. In their inability to come to terms with an increasingly negative situation, they are a lot like the American generals who continued to bombard Vietnam when they knew the war was already lost. Oh, dear, the situation is still not resolved. What on earth can they do? European Council and Collapse Yes, the euro is mortal (Le Monde, Handelsblatt, Público & 2 autres) The European Council cannot afford the hunt for a new compromise in the short term, warns the European press. European leaders must take seriously the risk that the single currency will collapse – and with it, the EU. What choice do they have? The entire trouble is that too many want to make Europe into a single, integrated super-state in which the various nations have less power than an American state does under the current administration. PICTURE HERE::::::::::::::::: Nazgul-in-Chief - Abominable ActNazgul-in-Chief - Abominable Act (NEXT 9 STORIES AND 1 OPINION) Nathan’s general thoughts: I think that if the Abominable Act’s passage (ObummerCare) was the final death of the Constitution (though many of us believe that it died long ago and this “living document” is nothing but a zombie), then the Roberts Court has done nothing but signed the death certificate. Nothing changes, and Roberts’ mealy words are useless: it does NO good at this point to try and rein in the FedGov’s abuse of the Commerce Clause, noble as that thought might be. But Roberts’ “nobility” is drowned out by his “judiciary” concern for the “prestige and reputation” of the Court of which he is head. Too many conservatives want to find the silver lining and claim that Roberts is a sly man who has addressed the worst problem and protected the Court from partisan attacks while setting the First Candidate up for failure in November, but I think that they are deluding themselves. If he did nothing else, he has apparently opened the door for unlimited federal taxation power – which we were near enough to already. The curtain has fallen for the last time. 'Incredible Irony': Court Has 'Declared Obama to Be a Monumental Liar' (CNSNews.com) Cute. And NOT anything but a booby prize. At the same time that they gave him EXACTLY what he wanted. Of course, the backlash MAY drive the First Citizen OUT of that place he’s squatting in, and MIGHT drive a lot of thugs out of the Capitol (only, sadly, to be replaced by more of the same). I WAS, however, pleased to see from a vaguely-libertarian conservative site a call for secession. YES! May MILLIONS more call for the same thing. SCOTUS: Individual Mandate 'Can Reasonably Be Read As a Tax'; There Goes the Future of Liberty, Conservatives Say (CNSNews.com) Libertarians, on the other hand, know (or should) that liberty and the republic are DEAD, and this is nothing but a death certificate. Another and worthless one, to boot. It may be “reasonably” read as a tax, but that does not make it a REASONABLE TAX (if such a thing exists). Indeed, some are calling it the biggest tax increase in world history. Justice Kennedy: ‘In Our View, The Entire Act Before Us Is Invalid In Its Entirety’ (CNSNews.com) Amen. But his attitude reflects badly on the vast numbers of his profession. And without some positive action to overthrow not just this law but the people who DID it, we are not going to see this happen. Ginsburg: A 'Practical, Altogether Reasonable, Solution' (CNSNews.com) So were the death camps in Poland and Germany. Depending on your point of view, of course. And just as secession is a practical, altogether reasonable solution for dealing with the abrogation of the Constitution. Scalia/Kennedy/Thomas/Alito: Commerce Clause Doesn't Give Government the Power 'To Regulate All Private Conduct' (CNSNews.com) Maybe - but it is going to take bloodshed to prove it. The act of secession, of going out and creating a new Union, either with the old Constitution (suitably modified per L. Neil’s and Boston’s recommendations) OR a new Heinlein/L. Neil-style constitution, one which starts out: THE UNANIMOUS DECLARATION OF WE, THE PEOPLE, IN ORDER TO PRESERVE LIBERTY FOR OURSELVES AND ALL WHO JOIN IN THIS DECLARATION WITH US… Ginsburg, Sotomayor Concur: ‘Minimum Coverage Provision Is a Proper Exercise of Congress’ Taxing Power’ (CNSNews.com) WHERE in the Constitution is Congress given the power to levy a tax on “inactivity?” Are we to next tax farmers for not growing crops? Ranchers for not raising livestock? Engineers for not designing bridges? Roberts: Americans Cannot Avoid Taxation Through Inactivity (CNSNews.com) SO! What “inactivity” shall we tax next? A failure to brush our teeth? To clean our toilets properly? To NOT recycle? (Oh, wait, a lot of cities are already doing that!) To NOT vote? To NOT give enough to charity, like that political campaign that wants people to give money to it instead of giving wedding presents or anniversary gifts? (Sly dig alert!) How about a STUPIDITY TAX on politicians and judges - THAT would raise a lot of money. Or a tax on people who DON’T buy cigarettes or beer or soda or unhealthy food, since they aren’t supporting all those wonderful health systems enough? Justice Roberts: Individual Mandate Is a Tax; 'Not Our Role to Forbid It, or to Pass Upon Its Wisdom' (CNSNews.com) The man has just demonstrated his evil, his incompetence, and his lust for power. In his concern for the preservation of the dignity and impartiality of his court system, he has betrayed the basic and essential principles of liberty which his court is supposed to uphold. “We had to betray freedom in order to save it?” Please, “befehl ist befehl” is a more honest and moral sentiment than that. Individual Mandate Was a Conservative Idea, WH Spokesman Reminds Reporters (CNSNews.com) ONLY if you consider Romney to be a “Conservative” of course. But too many “conservatives” are “BIG GOVERNMENT CONSERVATIVES” - like being a little bit pregnant and a whole lot stupid, to my way of thinking. And we ALL know that the vast majority of “conservatives” have LONG ago betrayed liberty and freedom and their oaths to the Constitution. Opinion of the Day: Krauthammer: Roberts pulled off one of the great constitutional finesses of all time (June 29, 2012 by Ed Morrissey) Ed’s thoughts: I’m normally loathe to gainsay Charles Krauthammer on politics or on health care. He has been one of the bright conservative lights in the commentariat for longer than I’ve been in the club at all, and normally I don’t find a need to dispute his point of view. Today, though, I find his declaration of victory in the ObamaCare decision just a wee bit difficult to buy … and fortunately, we don’t have a mandate to purchase it… Mama Liberty: A different take on things. I've not followed Krauthammer. Have you? Nathan: I've not really paid much attention to Krauthammer for years: he seemed to be right once in a while, but often off-track. I've now had a chance to read this and actually, I understand and even agree with his reasoning, but it makes Roberts out to be an opportunist and NOT a defender of the Constitution, which is theoretically the most important purpose of the Nazgul. And Roberts IS simply letting his defense of his own turf, however exalted that turf is, override truth and justice and liberty. Congress in action Committee Lawmakers Join Ranks to Pass ‘Carefully Crafted’ State Dep’t. Authorization Bill (CNSNews.com) Too much cooperation - what else have they stolen from us in this bill? This is worse than pork-barrel, since the vast majority of this money disappears overseas. We need some standardization: countries with less than 1 million population get a maximum of TEN State Department types, TEN Marines, and ONE CIA agent. 1-10 million get TWENTY, TWENTY, and ONE, 11-50 MILLION get THIRTY, THIRTY, and TWO. 51-100 million get FORTY, FORTY, and FIVE. Over 100 million – even if it is a “billion screaming Chinamen” get ONE HUNDRED, TWO HUNDRED (more Marines for greater span and threats), and TEN. Maximum of ONE staffer (including the Secretary herself) stateside for every TWENTY overseas. EVERYONE travels Coach. NO LIQUOR: especially not for state dinners where it is the local politicos that are slurping up French wines and German beers at OUR expense. And NOTHING that can’t be bought at either the local equivalent of Family Dollar or stateside in Wal-Mart or Safeway to be served at state dinners OR in their cafeterias. Oh, and NO MORE THAN one foreign (local national) employee per ten department employees in ANY posting. No chauffeurs, no maids, no cooks, no greeters, no secretaries or “typists” or informants. If we need a new embassy or consulate, we build it prefab, modular stateside and ship it over to be assembled, probably with total self-contained systems: power, water, waste, waste water, and a whopping big satellite dish for communications. And every one of the state department types sent overseas has a minimum of one year of combat and survival training, and goes ARMED. Mama's Note: I've got a MUCH better idea. Forget the entire thing. No "State department" and no budget for anything. Period. If individuals and their co-ops want to fund such a thing, they are welcome to do so... but they have no power to speak for anyone but themselves. Congress in action – Theft by government Senate-Passed Farm Bill Is 80 Percent Food Stamps (CNSNews.com) Well, THAT explains the nearly one-trillion dollar price tag. What about the other 260 million of us? What do WE get, if we don’t get farm subsidies or food stamps? I know the answer to that: the usual RAW DEAL. You know, you get more of what you subsidize: whether it is food crops (welfarm bums?) OR regular welfare bums. What can stop this? Stop using stolen money to let people buy food. If poor people need food, churches and charities, like food banks, can provide them the food they need, and ensure that the money (whether it is fiat greenbacks or vouchers or EBT (Electronic benefit transfer) cards, is not used for nefarious purposes. Crash of 2009 Economists See ‘Lengthened Eligibility Period for Unemployment Benefits’ As Factor in High U.S. Unemployment (CNSNews.com) Once more, with FEELING: “You get MORE of what you SUBSIDIZE!” Apparently, even TRANZI economists understand this. Can WE understand that they WANT more unemployment? That this is one of their goals, at least until such time as they can get rid of the surplus population? Can you IMAGINE if in 1929-1933 people had been able to draw unemployment checks at 25% or 50% of their wages or salaries for 99 months? We’d still be IN the Great Depression, WW2 or NOT! Nazgul – Politics 2012 Federal Judge Rebuffs Justice Department, Says Florida May Correct Its Voting Rolls (CNSNews.com) Naughty, naughty Nazgul. He may not get to collect his royal pension, doing things like this. Is there enough time to go through the registration lists and get rid of the ringers? Doubtful, especially given that the dirty tricks guys will still be going full-force. Politics 2012 Poll suggests Obama swing state attacks working (Washington Post) A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll out Wednesday suggests that in key swing states, President Obama’s ad campaigns against former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney are working. While nationally the two rivals are locked in a dead heat, in 12 expected battleground states — Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin — Obama leads by eight points in the survey. I suspect that these states are ALSO where the First Citizen’s campaign is concentrating on “dirty tricks:” The dead and insane and criminals and border jumpers and green card holders shall vote, the votes shall be counted by black-art Democratic operatives and hackers, the chads shall all stick, and the law-suits are already written (or will be by election day). Self-defense? One soldier dead, two injured, in Fort Bragg N.C. shooting (Digital Journal) Fort Bragg - In a shooting this afternoon at Fort Bragg, N.C., one Soldier is dead and two are injured. The incident occurred during a unit safety brief. According to a statement released from Fort Bragg, "During a unit safety brief a Soldier shot another member of the unit and then turned the weapon on himself. The shooter was injured and is in custody. A third Soldier who was in the area was also slightly wounded in the shooting." Mama Liberty: And everyone disarmed except the murderer, I'll bet. Nathan: Don't know about that, but they did not report in most stories is that the first person killed was the battalion commander, a lieutenant-colonel. Rarely would you find anyone carrying anything but personal, concealed weapons in a safety meeting like this. But more seriously, this year more soldiers are dying by suicide than by any sort of enemy action - even this sort. What was it that caused him to do this? Policies on carrying personal (or issue) weapons vary from post to post and unit to unit; but as I’ve pointed out before, it is wise to go back to the OLD days when the only time some soldier’s weapon was locked up was when he was on leave, in hospital, or sleeping in anything but a private room. Self defense? AR: Man shoots and kills woman, claims self defense: (Fox 16 News) "Police were called to a robbery in the 2600 block of West 28th Avenue early Tuesday morning and found a woman dead. A man told police he shot the woman in self defense after she carjacked him. Ryan Bishop, 20, told police that 22-year-old Tarshara Banister jumped in his truck held him at gunpoint and took his wallet. He says she then ordered him to drive to an ATM where he says he was forced to attempt to withdraw money. Bishops says they fought over the gun and he shot Banister in self defense. Police are still investigating the incident." (06/26/12) Mama: Now THAT’s different! Nathan: Definitely a situation where a jury needs to look at it. Of course, the ATM camera could substantiate at least PART of his story. Friday, June 29, 2012 Abominable Act Regulations – War on Religion (Next 2 Stories) Next Battle: Catholic Bishops Unanimous ‘In Our Vigorous Opposition to This Unjust and Illegal Mandate’ (CNSNews.com) The bishops have, I think, flat-out declared that they will NOT accept the SCOTUS ruling. Would that they really meant it, and were praying for the defeat (and destruction) of the enemies of God and liberty! Archbishop Gomez of L.A.--in Spanish-Language Column--Says Attacks on Religious Liberty in U.S. Driven by 'Anti-Christian' Forces (CNSNews.com) To the extent that EVERY force which is against liberty, human liberty, is anti-christian and anti-God, this Archbishop is correct! And it will get worse. Nazgul-in-chief – Abominable Act (Next 7 Stories) Chief Justice Roberts: It's Not A Tax, It Is A Tax; It's Law, But It's Not 'Unlawful' to Break It (CNSNews.com) This was covered pretty well yesterday, and this writer is also taking the tact of “the sly old Mr. Justice Roberts” with no more success. Rep. Gohmert: ‘It’s Time for the American People to Get Outraged’ (CNSNews.com) Oh, dear, Rep Gohmert: where have you been for the last 70 years? It is too late for “outrage” – this is just the next step in Tranzi, Socialist America in all but name. What have YOU been doing to stop this, Mr. Gohmert? Pelosi on Obamacare: I Knew Ted Kennedy ‘Would Go to Heaven and Help Us Pass the Bill’ (CNSNews.com) Speaking of religion, didn’t she just betray her own principles, by enlisting religious help and claiming that God is on her side in this? Of course, this madwoman will have to do some convincing to get her “fellow” Catholics (why hasn’t she been excommunicated yet?) that Teddy got anything LESS than a few billion years in Purgatory and is a LONG ways from Heaven even by Catholic theology. I should add, however, that apparently the SCOTUS decision in this matter has definitely confirmed that the Lord is now on the side of the Tranzis backing St. Teddy the Car-Driver. This is clearly why various Liberal pundits have announced (a la Oral Roberts) that the flooding of Tropical Storm Debby is God’s punishment of the conservatives of Florida and the Deep South, and that the Waldo Canyon fire on the edge of Colorado Springs is God’s punishment for their excessively-conservative ways, especially their tolerance of the evil of Focus on the Family. Rep. Allen West: ‘Life, Liberty & Pursuit of Happiness Got Struck Down’ by Supreme Court (CNSNews.com) Good way of putting it – if we hadn’t lost those all many decades ago. Scalia to Ginsburg: Sorry, Health-Care Market is an 'Unwanted Suite of Products' for Many (CNSNews.com) Which makes me think that Microsoft is more like government than not: just as you HAVE to take Microsoft Internet Explorer and a lot of other garbage with your Windows upgrade: no choice allowed, so we have no choice about the add-ons when we are so STUPID as to accept human government. Mama's Note: AH, but there are a number of excellent options besides Windows. Don't upgrade Windows, get Linux open source and get the "add-ons" you really want. There are also many good options available besides standard western medicine. Find them and educate yourself for health and happiness. Nazgul-in-chief – Abominable Act Rep. Ruppersberger: ‘I Didn’t Tell My Constituents It Was a Tax’ (CNSNews.com) Of course you didn’t – you may be greedy and a liar and on a power trip, but you aren’t STUPID – at least not when it comes to getting stupid people to vote for you, Mr. Ruppersberger. Theft by government Denver Post: Colorado Solar Panel Maker That Got $400M Federal Loan Guarantee Goes Bankrupt (CNSNews.com) Meanwhile, as I mentioned previously, that squandered $400M could have been used to buy aerial tankers that could have helped prevent nearly 500 homes from being burned to the ground, nearly 100,000 people evacuated, and nearly 250,000 acres of forest and grassland burned – JUST IN COLORADO ALONE. I understand that 150 people will be put out of work – what is that, 2.67 MILLION dollars per job? Nice pay, if you can get it. Let me tell you, that for 2.67 million I could provide jobs for 100 or more people in places where they need them more than the Front Range! Congress in action Your House Office Building Isn’t Even Compliant with ADA, Disabled Woman Tells Lawmakers (CNSNews.com) Of course not – they are CONGRESS and they are ABOVE the law and equal (or superior) to the Creator. But this woman and her supporters are trying to force all of creation to be ADA-compliant and that just isn’t possible: first, because the world isn’t built that way; second, because ADA is so full of garbage as to make it impossible; and third, people have reached the breaking point. Millions of hotel and motel swimming pools got a few weeks extension on being “ADA-compliant” before they (for the most part) shut down forever. Now, mini-golf (putt-putt) courses must be totally redesigned and rebuilt (or shut down – wanna bet?) and more and more businesses are being closed by ADA requirements. Stupid government – Islamic war: Persian front China, Iran’s Biggest Oil Customer, Gets Last-Minute Sanctions Exemption From Obama Administration (CNSNews.com) And who gets paid off for this? I suspect that the campaign contribution checks for “HOPE AND CHANGE 2012” have already been cashed. Just like Clinton did in 1996 with the huge low-sulfur coal deposits in Utah that got to be national monuments and the donations poured in from west of Japan and Korea. Stupid UN Tricks Tempers Flare at U.N. Human Rights Council As Speaker Criticizes Cuba and Aspiring Member Venezuela (CNSNews.com) Truth hurts – all too often, the one who is telling the truth. Sacrificial Love Virginia: Heather Town Dies Shielding Daughter (AOL News) A tornado spawned by Tropical Storm Debby ripped through the oak trees and barbed-wire fence near Heather Town's mobile home in Venus, Fla. In what must have been a moment of instinct, she grabbed her 3-year-old daughter and clutched the child in her arms, Bay News 9 reports. Moments later, Town's home was thrown 200 feet into the woods by the powerful storm, according to Fox 13. Two neighbors heard a child crying and tracked down the source of the sound, eventually finding Town cradling her daughter. Once help arrived, Town was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Fox 13. The child is recovering from broken bones, including broken ribs, perhaps a result of her mother's tight, protective grip, WPTV reports. What love is this, what can it be? She should have not sacrificed herself for her daughter, according to the Tranzis: the child was barely human, after all. 39 short months ago, Heather could have had a doctor with a vacuum suck the little girl out of her womb and decant the body into a trash bag, but... **************** Your comments and feedback are welcome!
