Mark Levin: You Cannot Have This EPA and a Constitution
(CNSNews.com)

Mark Levin's new book "Amertopia" was released this weekend.

Of course, Levin has NOT forgotten that the Abominable Act (ObummerCare), the NDAA (with its indefinite detention provisions) and a host of other immoral and unconstitutional laws being enforced or held for "Der Tag" are ALSO why we are "post-Constitutional." I, on the other hand, am one of those who believe that the Republic was bedridden from 1861 on, was dealt a deathblow in 1913 (Direct election of Senators and "Income Tax Amendment), and may have indeed died that year or in 1917 (WW1). Since then, the FedGov has been riding a dead horse, a ZOMBIE dead horse admittedly, that appeared to be alive. But more and more "democracy" and more and more imperial institutions and trappings have been erected - oddly enough, a much slower process than the 40-year conversion of the SPQR to the Imperium.

Ed Meese: GOP Candidates Should Embrace Reagan’s 4-Part ‘Magic Formula’
(CNSNews.com)

Edwin Meese, a longtime adviser to Ronald Reagan who served as attorney general in Reagan’s administration, told CNSNews.com on Thursday that the Republican presidential candidates should adopt Reagan’s 4-part “magic formula” for economic growth—which includes across-the-board tax cuts, regulatory reform, a stable monetary policy and restraining the growth of government.

Well, maybe - but how about THIS 4-part "magic formula" - Eliminate taxes, Eliminate regulations, Restore gold or silver as money, and Eliminate government. May not go over this election, so we could "tone it down" a bit: Eliminate 80% of federal taxes, Eliminate 80% of regulations, Restore gold AND silver as money, and Eliminate 90% of government (other 10% of taxes used to pay off the public debt). Then in 2014, do the rest.

VA AG Fears DC Law May Relocate Rat 'Families' to Virginia
(CNSNews.com)

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli … said D.C.'s new rat law--the Wildlife Protection Act of 2010 (Wildlife Protection Act of 2010.pdf) --is “crazier than fiction” because it requires that rats and other vermin not be killed but captured, preferably in families; no glue or snap traps can be utilized; the rodents must be relocated from where they are captured; and some of these animals may need to be transferred to a “wildlife rehabilitator” as part of their relocation process.

When we first saw this, we thought it was a spoof – something from The Onion – but it is apparently NOT. I have a wonderful idea: let these idiots – the Washington DC city council and all the imbeciles that vote for them and let them stay in power and PASS garbage laws like this – HAVE their rats, and the plague and everything else and watch (do NOTHING to help) as they sicken and die. It is time to abandon the cities – NOTHING is worth putting up with this sort of insanity. Mankind has been fighting rats for six thousand years – but DC wants to rehabilitate them! Let this city and its powers go to India and leave us alone!

Judge rejects Virginia ballot challenges
(Reuters)

A federal judge in Virginia on Friday refused to order that candidates Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich and Jon Huntsman be added to the ballot in the state's March 6 Republican presidential primary election after they failed to qualify.

Nathan: I admit to being surprised that ANY federal judge, let alone one appointed by this administration, would find that the establishment GOP could be shut out by the very laws intended to keep them in power. So on March 6th, the GOP voters will be able to choose between Ron Paul and Mitt Romney!

Moving Ahead With Guidelines To Control Indoor Mold Contamination
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/07/070702151000.htm
ScienceDaily (July 2, 2007)

Amid growing public concern about mold contamination of homes and its associated health effects, a new study is recommending policy approaches for controlling mold in homes that could be used on local and nationwide bases. It is scheduled for publication
in the July 15 issue of ACS’ Environmental Science and Technology, a semi-monthly journal.

This is no surprise, but will turn "indoor mold" into another scam as we have seen for several decades in lead-based paint and asbestos-containing-materials and urea-based insulation products. All of these "dangers" which DO exist in very limited and special circumstances have been inflated to massive "one-size-fits-all" boondoggles which reap huge profits for "certified" specialists and "remediation" companies - while costing small businesses (most contractors) and consumers fortunes - all enforced by government agencies which grow in power and wealth.

Mama's Note: Always looking for more things to tax and regulate, of course... It's all about CONTROL.

Added comments:
I reported on this story last week. I think everyone realized my thoughts were sarcastic in nature.

Nazgul - War on religion
Fed Court Sides With Atheist; R.I. School Ordered to Remove Prayer Mural
(Washington Post)

The thing has been there since 1963, and just shy of 50 years later ONE student decides that she is offended by it, and history and tradition is thrown away, thanks to a black-robed judicial activist. Is this a great country or what?

Mama Liberty had some great thoughts on it:
One time a manager in a store told me a customer was "uncomfortable" seeing my gun, and asked that I conceal it or take it to my car. I pointed to a black lady in the next lane and asked her if she thought she should tell that person to leave the store if I was "uncomfortable" seeing a black person. She looked at me like she'd seen a ghost. Maybe she actually thought about it and got the point. Don't know. I finished checking out and never went back there. This insane idea that most of us are somehow obligated not to do anything that might make certain people "uncomfortable" or "offended" --- and, naturally, we are not all created equally that way. Some people obviously seem to have more of a "right" not to be offended than others.

Nathan (more thoughts): It is not just government-run, tax-funded schools that have this problem, of course. I'm seeing it in churches, where those preaching are accused of offending those in the congregation because they "attacked" something that one of the people in the assembly (or one of their relatives or one of their friends) was doing. I've seen it in the workplace where a supervisor (or owner!) corrected some error made by an employee! And I have seen it in front of planning and zoning boards and governing boards of cities and counties where objectors to someone doing something with their own property have "offended" their neighbors (sometimes, the "neighbors" are miles away) because they will "change the character of the neighborhood" or "be unslightly" or "increase traffic" or "may lower property values." All of these are SUBJECTIVE as far as their impacts on others, just as this spoiled little brat (and her handlers) was "offended" by this poster. The solution for parents is to get their children OUT. The solution in schools for the community is to make those schools independent of government at ANY level. The solution in other locations is to REDUCE or ELIMINATE the power of governments to dictate what people can do on their own property, and GET RID of this idea of central planning and control - socialism - at ANY level: federal, state, county, township, town or city.

World wars - Free enterprise
Underground Economy Growing
SANTA MONICA, Calif. (MarketWatch)

A $10 trillion underground street economy that will employ two-thirds of the world’s workers by 2020 has been uncovered. Robert Neuwirth, in his book “Stealth of Nations: The Global Rise of the Informal Economy,” treks through the developing world and finds small, informal — sometimes illegal — enterprises are changing the shape of the global economy. I believe him because I have seen it myself. And if you have ever traveled about developing nations, you have too. Those kiosks and small stores selling the basics where you can find pretty much everything and anything from cigarettes to pirated DVDs, employ a large chunk of the world’s population — half at the present time, according to Neuwirth — and outsell Wal-Mart. Indeed, big brands know this.

And happening here in the US as well. I know of several small and not-so-small businesses, especially mom-and-pop operations, that are having to either take cash or accept some kind of barter for some or all of their work or goods. Whether it is professional services or work such as tree-clearing, trenching, house repair, or food, they have been shut down by government regulations or lack of permits, and often both parties have decided that it is their business and NOT some city or county or state or federal agency. We are surely seeing the same thing in the PIIGS of Europe, and I will bet that it is more common in the more highly taxed American states.

Mama's Note: Hopeful signs, but there is a lot of work left to do. I actually quit buying things at the local thrift store because they collect sales tax. There has even been talk of trying to force those who barter or hold yard sales to collect this tax! The original theft is bad enough, but a new theft each time something changes hands is truly insane.

Crash of 2009
Asia stocks, euro drop on S&P rating cuts
(Bloomberg)

"Asian stocks fell the most in a almost a month, the euro touched an 11-year low versus the yen and copper slid after Standard & Poor’s stripped France of its top credit rating and cut eight other euro-zone nations. The MSCI Asia Pacific Index tumbled 1.3 percent as of 11:38 a.m. in Tokyo following a 2.2 percent gain last week." (01/15/12)

The roller-coaster continues to run - but it is dropping lower all the time. It is not just the S&P, it is the growing fear of total Greek default after more talks failed, the protests in Romania against austerity measures, and the growing fears in all the PIIGS that nothing is going right. The only reason the stock market is holding in there is because of inflation.

Fox Poll: 80% Say Ability to Beat Obama Most Important Factor for GOP Candidate
(CNSNews.com)

Yeah, really? In that case, why not just nominate Lady Gaga or one of the Beatles? They are certainly more popular.

Mama's Note: I've seen some cute dog videos at Youtube that poll better than any of these people. Why not nominate the golden retriever? I'd vote for her!

Gingrich: Defund Planned Parenthood and Give the Money to Adoption Services
(CNSNews.com)

How about just DEFUND the entire HHS boondoggle? This is nothing but a different flavor of the First Citizen's "effort" to "streamline government" by merging all the corporate welfare into one agency/department: government still has the money and the power when this is done, but people are fooled into thinking otherwise.

Santorum on Romney: ‘Track Record Matters’ on Abortion

Yes, track records matter in EVERYTHING - even if there has been a significant and valid conversion. Santorum's track record is no better than Romney's, just on different issues. Killing babies is not the only evil thing.

Sounds like a good plan - if you happen to work for Uncle Adolf. But then, Tranzis have ALWAYS enjoyed genocide and similar activities. Ron Paul: ‘Enforcing the Constitution’ Would Be A Good Party Platform
(CNSNews.com)

YES! For a minarchist. Even a Glenn Beck type minarchist-libertarian. Even a few folks like L. Neil who are really (mostly) self-governors and therefore pretty near free-market anarchists would go along with this as a first and very big step: see L. Neil's Bill of Rights Enforcement (BORE) writings. Of course, the only platform the South Dakota LP ever agreed on was the US Bill of Rights, so this is nothing new. In fact, there was this radical nutcase back in 1988 who ran for president on a third-party ticket that had this same idea...

Politics 2012
A Key Question in the GOP Race: Where Will Ron Paul’s Supporters Go?
(CNSNews.com)

Aye, indeed. Ah suppose if'n enough of them move to New Hampshire or Montana (forget about Wyoming, yah dadburn minarchists!!!!) they might vote to separate. Shucks, even 10% vote for GOP registered voters is still about 10 million people - enough for about 3/4 of the world's countries today.

Mama's Note: Sadly, far too many Wyomingites are quite content with government as usual as long as the subsidies keep rolling in... When those end... things might get interesting.

Gingrich: Most Americans Would Rather Earn a Paycheck Than Be Dependent on Food Stamps
(CNSNews.com)

I think he is right about his (and my) generation and his (and somewhat my) ethnic and economic background - but there are a LOT of people willing to take SNAP, and AS MANY willing to take government handouts in the form of corporate welfare and social insecurity.

Mama's Note: Much of that is simply because they've been conditioned to see those things as something other than "handouts." If you think it is something you earned, or something you or your parents paid for... you can avoid even considering the truth. I've talked to thousands of people who were far too proud to take any sort of "charity," but had no qualms accepting things from the government because they believed they had a "right" to it... and most had no idea how it was paid for.

As US and Israel Postpone Major Joint Military Exercise, Iran Talks Up its Regional Might
(CNSNews.com)

Typically Persian response. A recent assessment by Stratcom points out that Persia is the ONLY known example in world history of an empire in a region that is mostly mountainous. This indicates just how incredibly rabid statists that they are. (Even in the US, where do the vast majority of true rebels live today (and in the past?) - with the exception of Texas, it is the Appalachians (including the extension into New England) and the Rocky Mountains.) But Persian success in getting and keeping power in the lowland areas was limited to a single period, when the Medo-Persian shahs took all of the Fertile Crescent and Egypt and tried to take Greece. They have been trying ever since to regain that dominance, and the closest they came was in the Parthian era when they pushed back against Rome.

Ahmadinejad Says His Latin American Visit Bolstered Campaign Against ‘Global Hegemony’
(CNSNews.com)

Apparently Chavez and Ah-made-a-jehad joked about the hidden nuclear warheads under the "grassy knoll" in front of Chavez's palace. Apparently they do not realize that being buddy-buddy makes the professional paranoid clan in DC even MORE paranoid and willing to dream of global hegemony. And at the same time, this weird alliance of Islam and Socialism has its OWN dreams of global hegemony: something those so heavily and strongly opposed to American hegemony need to remember.

Romney Says He May Release His Tax Returns in April
(CNSNews.com)

There IS, of course, a very sound reason that even that nest of robbers called Congress has provided for a lower tax rate for investment income than for earned income: it encourages us suckers to invest and so have money - feeding the goose that lays the golden egg instead of dissecting it. But it makes Romney, in our current climate, another evil parasite on the public - as if most of the voters these days paid income taxes.

North Carolina: Mother shoots, kills son during bedroom assault
(WBTV News)

"Barger's parents told investigators they had poured out all the alcohol in the house after Barger became drunk. When his parents went to bed, Barger went into their bedroom and started assaulting them by pulling them out of bed and beating them on the ground. His mom reached for a pistol when Barger started beating his father and she ordered him to stop, according to police. When he came at her, she fired, shooting him directly in the chest." (01/16/12)

Mama Liberty: I can't imagine the horror of this situation. Praying for those parents, for sure.

Nathan: What would be particularly horrible about this is the fear (or knowledge) that it was their own fault that this man turned out the way he did. And that the alcohol in their house was part of his problem. Notice that they closed the barn AFTER the cows got out; they poured out the alcohol “after” Barger became drunk. Self-defense is no substitute for a decent way of raising children, or frankly, for kicking someone out of the house.

Perry: ‘Travesty’ That U.S. Energy Security Is ‘Tied to a Nation That Hates Us’
(CNSNews.com)

Of course, this could be said about quite a few countries that have their fingers into the US energy network: Let's see: Mexico, Canada, Venezuela, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, "Iraq," Iran, - gee, at least the UK and Norway are still sort of friendly. The real point, though, is missing: this is the situation because the FedGov caused it to be so. Unless you fix the cause (and Romney won't) you won't solve the problem.

Begin Sex Ed in Kindergarten, Says New ‘National Standards’ Report
(CNSNews.com)

For REAL families - for parents that are concerned about their children and their future, "sex education" begins at birth, and they NEVER let the state - in schools or in the form of teen gangs or whatever else - get involved in it. Sadly, that seems to now be about 3% of the whole population, a number that will drop still further in the next generation if things like this are done. I remember a boast (or statement) by a former Pontiff - "give me a child until age seven and they are mine forever."

Mama's Note: Not quite... this quote is the Jesuit motto, alleged to be attributed to Francis Xavier, the co-founder of the Jesuit Order. The many millions of Catholics brought up in the various traditions, from birth, who leave the church in great numbers later would seem to prove that conditioning is not truly reliable.

Santorum Says the Popular Election of Senators Led to Big Government

Shucks, I mostly agree with him. One of the consequences was the reduction of the power of the States vis-a-vis the FedGov (supposedly their employee) - a defect the next story talks about.

SOPA protests
Pockets of Internet go dark to protest piracy bills
(Reuters)

Wikipedia, the world's free online encyclopedia, went dark on Wednesday and other Internet players including Google put black censorship bars on portions of their websites in protest of pending U.S. legislation designed to curb online piracy. The unusual protest was visible across the Internet in many forms on Wednesday, with dozens of commercial and non-profit websites either closing down for the day or urging visitors to oppose what had until recently been a relatively obscure and technical legislative proposal. Internet companies aim to get U.S. lawmakers to back off of bills designed to shut down access to overseas websites that traffic in stolen content or counterfeit goods.

Home front – Fighting tyranny without risk
Support wanes in US Congress for anti-piracy bill
(BBC)

The coverage on this was frankly bizarre. None of my usual news sources except the BBC (above) even covered it in their daily editions on Thursday, and mention was very limited even on Friday with a single article at FND/RRND (from the BBC).

Wikipedia: Sopa and Pipa protests not over
(BBC News [UK])

"After a 24-hour blackout, Wikipedia has returned to full working order but declared: 'We're not done yet.' The site had blocked its content for 24 hours in protest at proposed anti-piracy legislation in the US. The encyclopaedia said the site had been viewed 162 million times, with eight million people following instructions to contact politicians." (01/19/12)

The reporting was apparently bogus, as well: “pockets” turned out to be (according to info gleaned from various sources by Deb) 75,000 websites, 25,000 blogs, resulting in at least 3 million e-mails, 3.9 million tweets, 30,000 phone calls, and 7 million signatures JUST on the Google petition. I think Claire Wolfe has the right of it. It was fun, it MIGHT have made a difference, but no one really risked anything. Do we have the guts to do more? I wonder. Meanwhile, the Powers-That-Be in DC and the various other Statist hangouts continued to make the same noises about how stupid (or Dumb, to quote the Newsweek cover) we little people/consumers are. And how they know best, even when they are backing off a bit to help us get un-stressed.

First Citizen – New religions: environism
Obama rejects Keystone XL pipeline
(ABC News)

"The Obama administration today formally rejected a bid by Canadian energy company TransCanada to build a $7 billion oil pipeline linking the tar sands of Alberta to refineries on the Gulf of Mexico. ... the president said today in a statement that the congressionally imposed deadline did not provide adequate time for the State Department to finish a customary review of the pipeline's route through six states." (01/18/12)

The First Citizen was able to spin this to blame the GOP, but the truth is, he needs this to keep support of environists who are going to be key in the race in November. Meanwhile the Canadians immediately started talking to China about building the pipeline west to the BC coast to allow sales to Peking. And billions of dollars of construction and jobs and fuel that would offset sales to other countries has vanished. Theft by government
TN: House approves anti-income tax amendment
(The Tennessean)

"The state House of Representatives approved the wording of a constitutional amendment banning a state income tax Thursday, taking a step toward going before voters in 2014. ... Opponents of the amendment say the Tennessee Supreme Court has already ruled three times ... that the legislature lacks the power to impose an income tax. ... But supporters say the debate over an income tax in the late 1990s and early 2000s showed that the Supreme Court rulings are far from ironclad." (01/19/12)

I learned about this because one of the people who worked on this for many years called me all excited (as he should be) that the final hurdle has finally been crossed. Would that many more states follow. I think that the fight leading up to the vote in 2014 will be harder than they think, but it is winnable!

Mama's Note: The big problem is that the state just keeps coming back with it, time after time.. no matter how many times people have said NO!!!!

Defects in the Constitutional Amendment Process and a Reform Proposal
(Cato Institute)

Article V of the Constitution should be reformed to allow two-thirds of the state legislatures to propose a constitutional amendment which would then be ratified or rejected by the states...

An interesting idea - not necessarily too likely in the old days because of transportation and communications issues, and not really necessary when Senators truly represented their states and were appointed by the legislature to essentially serve as ambassadors and well as "lawmakers." It WOULD provide an end-run around the entrenched, bloated, and tyrannical Congress. If the Constitution really meant anything or was in force today, that is.

Occupy protests to again sweep country
(Wall Street Journal)

Protesters plan to “occupy” courthouses in more than 100 cities across the U.S. on Friday to protest a landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision that removed most limits on corporate and labor spending in federal elections. The grassroots coalition, called Move to Amend, said the protest will kick off petition drives to gain support for a constitutional amendment that would overturn Citizens United v. FEC, a 2010 court ruling that allowed private groups to spend huge amounts on political campaigns with few restrictions. Occupy Wall Street activists are joining the protest. "The courts created the idea that the corporation is a person with constitutional rights,” said David Cobb, an Occupy the Courts organizer. “It’s the justification for the whole corporate takeover of our government.”

I saw a flyer for this locally in a friends' restaurant: actually three rallies on Saturday in a county of only 25,000: a "progressive protest" (like a progressive dinner where you go from house to house for different parts of the meal). Problem is, these people are too stupid to realize that this supposed constitutional amendment won't be supported by either Dems or GOP types, and especially that it does not address the ROOT of the problem: the excessive power of government that causes companies (and us ALL) to find ways to defend against it: money to campaigns and lobbyists being one fairly well proven way.

Mama's Note: Much like trying to figure out how to saddle and bridle a rabid pig. The question isn't how to do it... the question is why anyone wants to ride the beast at all. It needs to be shot and buried fast, so nobody is endangered.

US Attorney General Says Black People Less Capable to Get Photo ID
(Godfather Politics)

The DOJ has filed racial profiling charges against Arpaio for his efforts to fight illegal immigration and drug trafficking in his Arizona county. The vast majority of illegals and drug runners are Hispanic, so yes, he and his department have to focus their attention more on that ethnic group than any other. What’s the difference between racial profiling and efficient police work? But Holder turns around and using the same racial profiling tactic as Arpaio uses for his law enforcement activities, trys to justify his personal fight to block voter ID laws. The hypocrisy of the actions screams injustice in both instances. If that poor black or Hispanic person needed to buy any over the counter allergy medication that contains pseudoephedrine, they would have to show a driver’s license or some form of ID in order to purchase it. If they have a car, they have to have a state driver’s license AND proof of insurance. If they are that poor and need to receive state or government aid, they have to have some form of ID in order to request and receive that aid. Some form of ID, often a photo ID is required for anyone to fly on a commercial airline, to open a bank account, buy a house, cash a check and the list goes on and on and on. If Mr Holder does not believe that any of these other ID requirements are racially discriminatory, then on what grounds does he believe requiring a photo ID to vote is a form of racial discrimination?

It is NOT necessary to be a partisan of Arpaio to still condemn the actions of DOJ. The hypocrisy of the FedGov and the state agencies is evident (just as Arpaio’s hypocrisy in many areas is clear). Is it any wonder that so many people cheered when the DOJ website was shutdown by Anonymous hackers on Thursday?

Mama's Note: And, once again, the real question is why anyone wants to ride the pig to start with.

US DOJ shuts down Megaupload website
(Guardian (UK))

The US government has closed down one of the world's largest filesharing websites, accusing its founders of racketeering, money laundering and presiding over "massive" online piracy. According to prosecutors, Megaupload illegally cheated copyright holders out of $500m in revenue as part of a criminal enterprise spanning five years. ... News of the indictment – being framed as one of the biggest copyright cases in US history – came a day after major internet firms held a 24-hour protest over proposed anti-piracy laws. ...According to a Department of Justice release, seven people associated with Megaupload were indicted by a federal grand jury earlier this month over the charges. Police in New Zealand have arrested four men after US authorities shut down the filesharing site Megaupload, including founder Kim Dotcom Link to this video

Obviously there is NO NEED for the SOPA/PIPA to allow the thuggish DOJ to reach around the world, apparently force or persuade other governments to do their work, and shut down ANYTHING they please on the most tenuous charges. This also comes just days after a British judge allowed the extradition of a man whose website was accused of having some links to pirated materials, even though he and his website and hosting servers were all located in the US. The tyranny is here, SOPA or not.

Counterattack: DOJ down in revenge for Megaupload
(Gizmodo)

Anonymous has sure been quiet lately, but today's federal bust of Megaupload riled 'em up good: a retaliatory strike against DoJ.gov (and plenty of other foes) leaving them completely dead. DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.com is reporting the department's site as universally nuked, and an Anonymous-affiliated Twitter account is boasting success. This is almost certainly the result of a quickly-assembled DDoS attack—and easily the widest in scope and ferocity we've seen in some time. If you had any doubts Anonymous is still a hacker wrecking ball, doubt no more.

Is this what Claire predicted?
