(ECONOMIC POLICIES FOR THE 21st CENTURY)

There is no reason to believe that a collection of measures to temporarily increase after-tax household and corporate income, transfer more money to state and local governments, and change terms of unemployment insurance would reliably boost growth...

I think that the article does not go far enough: the jobs act IS worse than nothing, and history shows that to be the case. Look at the economic downturn of 1939, and the last three years.

Mama's Note: Almost everyone is ignoring the most basic rational observation: when one is in a hole, the first thing to do is STOP DIGGING.

McElroy’s frustration makes me want to propose the five stages of freedom, to match the famous Kubler-Ross five stages of grief. Hers are: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance.

For David and me, it felt a little like the Blues Brothers. It was Chicago, most everybody in authority was looking to get us if they could, and we were on a mission from God. The biggest difference was that only David was wearing a suit. That, and the fact that he looks nothing like Elwood.

Looking back a few years from now, I'll probably remember yesterday as one of the most whirlwind days I've had in the Gunwalker Scandal.

The Taking Tree: a political parable

Other recent projects include David Kelley of the Atlas Society discussing the philosophical differences of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged characters, Professor Antony Davies of The Institute for Humane Studies on the monstrous US federal debt, a third episode on medical malpractice tort law for the Pacific Research Institute, a pair of videos for the ongoing "Bankrupting America" series produced for "A DC-based nonprofit."
