July 11, 2011 Massachusetts woman arrested for taking pictures in her own front yard (Piciq.com) Massachusetts state police arrested a 65-year-old woman who was standing on her property photographing the damage after a car had come crashing through her yard and into her driveway late Sunday night.Judith Davis-Scott spent the night in jail on charges of interfering with an investigation and disorderly conduct. This, I believe, even in Massachusetts, has a good chance of seeing the cops punished and the woman paid damages for her abuse by them. But like the Arlington business, it will scare off hundreds of people, who will cower in their homes for fear of the police and everything else. The abuse of citizens by cops grows daily. Mama's Note: Some will cower, of course, but it seems we see more and more people all the time who are both willing and able to defy these thugs. The flurry of such activity in New Hampshire alone is most encouraging. (Read the rest here) The

by Deborah Barton I found this essay trying to calculate
the cubic yard size of a dog (mid size like a Collie or Shepherd), cat,
sheep (grown), cow, and horse to determine some cost calculations for a
landfill's dead animal pit. I figure you all would be interested
in this.” Given what we have learned about the nature of humans
and societies and governments since 1926, more than ever we can
approach this issue of “sizing” with an understanding that there are
not only inherent limitations to what can exist, but there are also
limits to what is desirable.

Sure, they know and use the word, but it is something like the word relativity to them: Something they have heard of and that they might think they understand because of how others have explained it to them. Often that explanation is in error. (Read

One could say the conservatives are more jarring in their metamorphosis given how completely brown-shirted they could be at the height of the Bush years, and just how Jeffersonian they pretend to be today, some of them even comfortable with the ideas of challenging the Federal Reserve. You turn the radio’s dial to the right and it’s all about the Founding Fathers, the Declaration of Independence and the Tenth Amendment. The blather is intolerable. But the liberals can be, in their own way, just as perplexing to ponder. All the wars and surveillance and detention abuses they decried for years continue on their guy’s watch, and although some protest, most are at best vaguely discontent with the murderous bombings, but much more preoccupied with defending the president’s war on the American economy. Schedule I is supposedly reserved for drugs that have "a high potential for abuse," "no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States," and no "accepted safety for use under medical supervision." The Los Angeles Times notes that "marijuana has been approved by California, many other states and the nation's capital to treat a range of illnesses"; that "the DEA's decision comes as researchers continue to identify beneficial effects"; that "Americans overwhelmingly support [medical marijuana] in national polls"; and that the National Cancer Institute "notes that marijuana may help with nausea, loss of appetite, pain and insomnia." Kurtz was arrested in the early hours of New Years Day in downtown Orlando while filming police officers who were making "a violent arrest," according to a news release from Orlando Copwatch. Refusing to accept a plea bargain, Kurtz went to trial. He was subsequently found not guilty on the felony charge, due primarily to video evidence from a street corner surveillance camera that "effectively disproves all three versions of arresting officer Adam Gruler's story as to where, when and how the supposed battery took place."
