Our right to defend ourselves
Colorado: Vermont Carry Bill Progresses in General Assembly
9 News

Legislators and lobbyists are divided on the proposal to allow concealed carry permits to be optional, and allow concealed-carry of weapons by Colorado citizens, imitating Arizona and Alaska.

It is a surprisingly balanced news story from the mainstream media. But it is not being picked up by many sources, and the bill apparently does not take away the power claimed by some home-rule cities in Colorado (including the City and County of Denver) to disarm ALL citizens, open- or concealed-carry. Oddly enough, Colorado is not far behind Wyoming on this issue.

Mama's Note: Wyoming is the fourth state to remove the "permit" requirement for concealed carry. Permits will still be available for those who wish to have them when they travel to other states. There are still quite a few limitiations, which we hope to address in years to come. All of the same "prohibited" places for CC remain, and only Wyoming residents of 6 months or more are eligible for permitless concealed carry. The new provisions won't go into effect until July 31, a pretty silly idea itself, but probably an unavoidable part of the legislative process. It will be interesting to see how this all works out, but I don't expect anyone to be able to actually notice any real difference. Remember, concealed is CONCEALED.

FIRST RESPONDERS?
By Nathan Barton © 2011

The term “first responders” is commonly understood today and frequently used to describe the various services (usually provided by local governments) such as firefighters, police or sheriff’s officers, emergency medical personnel, and utilities personnel.

But as a recent JPFO writer pointed out, this is really NOT a proper title or identification. In a crime situation, he explains, it is the people ON THE SCENE who are the true first responders, and the police are second responders (at best).

Wyoming Adopts 'Constitutional Carry' of Firearms
by James Heiser - The New American

An important step was taken yesterday in Wyoming toward restoring the constitutionally protected right of Americans to keep and bear arms, as that state became the second in less than a year to enact legislation affirming the right of its citizens to carry a concealed firearm without a special government-issued license. Following adoption in the state Senate, the vote of the House in the Wyoming legislature approved the bill by a vote of 48–8 several weeks ago, and Gov. Matt Mead signed it into law on March 3.

The right to carry a concealed firearm without a special license issued by the state is often referred to as “constitutional carry.” Wyoming is now the fourth state in the Union that recognizes constitutional carry, joining Alaska, Arizona, and Vermont.

Take This Love and Shove It
by Becky Akers

Discussing Obamacare with the US House of Reprehensibles this week, Mississippi’s Republican governor, Haley Barbour, said, "Believe it or not, we love our constituents as much as you all do, and we want to do right for them…" Is the man an imbecile, ignorant of the English language, or both?

Dictionary.com defines "love" as "1. a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person. 2. a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend. 3. sexual passion or desire."

If Hal and his fellow thugs feel such sentiments for their victims, I think I speak on behalf of us all when I say, "Get a grip, buddy, that’s disgusting – and for sure it ain’t requited."

Issa silence on ‘Project Gunwalker’ enabled by NRA inaction
by David Codrea

There is one thing that could make it practically impossible for Issa to ignore, but in order to make it happen, we need an 800-Lb. gorilla.  We’ve seen the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms call for Senate Investigations, call to cut off ATF funding, and call for DoJ investigations.  We’ve seen Gun Owners of America call for expanding investigations into the House of Representatives, and provide just the tool to use.  Both groups have urged their members to take grassroots action to contact their representatives and ask for direct action.

But these groups only have a fraction of the membership of the mighty National Rifle Association, which to date has limited any notice of this huge, administration-shaking scandal to a few external links in its website’s “In the News” section (and none, naturally, to articles by we who broke this story and continue to provide new daily revelations).

Tyranny Fighters, FIJA take on Orlando Judge’s order
By Garry Reed

On March 2 the ACLU filed suit on behalf of the Fully Informed Jury Association (FIJA) against a Florida judge who banned free speech outside the courthouses in his jurisdiction See Florida judge bans free speech, assembly, jury-rights for more details.

Meanwhile, veteran rights activist Julian Heicklen has announced he will violate the ban on March 11 by distributing jury rights pamphlets outside the Orlando courthouse as a direct challenge against the judge's Administrative Order banning such activity.

In short, Heicklen and his Tyranny Fighters and FIJA Director Iloilo Jones have taken different tacks in their counter-offensive against what libertarians see as an illegal, anti-freedom, and patently unconstitutional order.
