Dealing
with the sociopath next door (or in DC)'No One Should Live Below A Certain Income Level,' U.N. Secretary-General Says CNSNews.com The United Nations, which marked a "World Day of Social Justice" on Sunday, Feb. 20, is calling for a "new era" in which all the people of the world have access to basic services and "decently" paying jobs. Especially the UN officials, workers, and their families. Right. Notice that this does not include things like subsistance farming and herding which 90% of the human race has lived on for millenia; and the “basic services” include an unhealthy dose of government-provided services: education, health-care, and much more. I wonder what kind of “jobs” this elitist Tranzi has in mind: body-servants for the UNnobility? Thai-style sex jobs? Fast-food cooks? Street-sweepers? Mama's Note: I don't think there is anyone in the world who
wouldn't like to see every human being living in comfort and plenty.
What so many people just can't seem to see or accept is that it is
simply not possible to achieve that via theft, coercion, murder and
destruction of the free market. True freedom would eventually make
poverty very rare, but would leave those who actually desire that
conditon perfectly free to live that way if they chose. By Claire Wolfe I’m reading "The Sociopath Next Door" by Martha
Stout. The book is about how to recognize and deal with the sort of
everyday monster who won’t stab you with a knife but will stab you in
the back at work, cut you off at the knees in your endeavors, or be a
murderously awful family member or neighbor.
Perhaps the most useful part is Stout’s “Thirteen Rules for Dealing with Sociopaths in Everyday Life.” As I read her list, it struck me that Stout was giving good advice not just for dealing with conscienceless, empathy-lacking individuals, but with institutions, too. Especially the One Big Institution we all know and love so well. (Read
