Stupid UN tricks
'No One Should Live Below A Certain Income Level,' U.N. Secretary-General Says
CNSNews.com

The United Nations, which marked a "World Day of Social Justice" on Sunday, Feb. 20, is calling for a "new era" in which all the people of the world have access to basic services and "decently" paying jobs.

Especially the UN officials, workers, and their families. Right. Notice that this does not include things like subsistance farming and herding which 90% of the human race has lived on for millenia; and the “basic services” include an unhealthy dose of government-provided services: education, health-care, and much more. I wonder what kind of “jobs” this elitist Tranzi has in mind: body-servants for the UNnobility? Thai-style sex jobs? Fast-food cooks? Street-sweepers?

Mama's Note: I don't think there is anyone in the world who wouldn't like to see every human being living in comfort and plenty. What so many people just can't seem to see or accept is that it is simply not possible to achieve that via theft, coercion, murder and destruction of the free market. True freedom would eventually make poverty very rare, but would leave those who actually desire that conditon perfectly free to live that way if they chose.

Dealing with the sociopath next door (or in DC)
By Claire Wolfe

I’m reading "The Sociopath Next Door" by Martha Stout. The book is about how to recognize and deal with the sort of everyday monster who won’t stab you with a knife but will stab you in the back at work, cut you off at the knees in your endeavors, or be a murderously awful family member or neighbor.

Perhaps the most useful part is Stout’s “Thirteen Rules for Dealing with Sociopaths in Everyday Life.” As I read her list, it struck me that Stout was giving good advice not just for dealing with conscienceless, empathy-lacking individuals, but with institutions, too. Especially the One Big Institution we all know and love so well.

National Gun Rights Examiner
Even ‘pro-gun’ representatives ignoring and ducking ‘Project Gunwalker’
by David Codrea

“Gun rights advocates following the “Project Gunwalker” story* have received replies from their United States Senators, Richard Lugar (R- Ind) and Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn), who say they are aware of allegations about gun monitoring operations by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) gone awry, and claim they are conducting staff investigations of the accusations,” the Gun Rights Examiner column reported on Feb. 21.

This development reflected the type of grassroots activism needed to keep the momentum on this story going forward by putting representatives on notice and publicizing their responses.

La Crosse Watchdogs: school board glosses over teachers' illegal sickout
By Garry Reed

While public school teachers played hooky to join the protests in Madison WI against the governor's plans to eliminate public employee's collective bargaining powers the La Crosse Watchdog Blog attended a school board meeting where members whitewashed their teachers' illegal absences.

Libertarian News Examiner introduced readers to the La Crosse Watchdogs when one of the two bloggers was arrested for filming a public meeting last November.
