Abominable Act
Nation’s Medical Practices, Health Insurers Must Use New Medical Codes, Which Bring Added Expense
CNSNews.com

U.S. health care providers and health plans have two years left to adopt a new system of medical coding -- the shorthand used to list what's wrong with a patient and how much that patient should be charged. This will be the first major overhaul of the medical coding system in 30 years, and it is separate from the government’s push to have health care providers switch from paper records to electronic health records.

There is periodically a need to update systems like this - and the best way to do it is through private coordination and voluntary cooperation -by professional organizations and standards associations. When government gets involved, it takes over, and messes things up.

Mama's Note: The only reason for these "codes" is to satisfy Medicare regulations. If a provider accepts even ONE Medicare patient, they must use the codes for ALL patients. They serve NO other purpose whatsoever, and certainly do not benefit either the patient or provider.

The Power of "Might"
By Susan Callaway, Editor

The letter of the LAW... the only legitimate law.

No human being has the right, under any circumstances, to initiate force against another human being nor to delegate that initiation.

Only things that are evil of themselves, mala en se, can be the proper objects of law. Murder, rape, theft and destruction of property belonging to another person are examples of mala en se crimes.

We can have a long discussion about exactly what the "initiation of force" means, but most people seem to work pretty much from a non-aggression position without too much disagreement, as long as the one making the attack is not in some government uniform or flashing a badge, of course. Why is that?

Moral negligence
by Larken Rose

“Good citizens” don’t like to hear this, but its truth should be obvious: The biggest threat to humanity, to peace, and to justice is not personal malice. It is the belief in “authority.” (Oddly, most people have the delusional belief that “authority” is what protects us from injustice and violence, when the exact opposite is true.)

As one example, in this country about 400,000 people per year are robbed by “private” thieves, while well over 200 million are robbed by thieves acting on behalf of a supposed “authority.” (The federal income tax alone hits over 100 million people, while sales taxes, property taxes, etc., hit just about everyone else as well.) In other words, “government” robs 500 times as many people a year as “private” crooks.

America just been schooled -- by Egypt
By Kevin Wilmeth

Instead, take a minute to marvel at what we are continually told is not possible: a state regime has fallen to a peaceful revolution, simply because the people withdrew their consent and stood their ground.

Not possible? Funny, we're looking at it right now:
  • Revolution. The people caused the big, bad government (dictator) to step down.
  • Peaceful. They did not have to go through "civil war" to overthrow the big, bad government. Nor did they do it by voting. They simply withdrew their consent until the dickheads went away.
  • Rapid. When enough people decided they'd had enough, it did not take long for the big, bad government to cave in.

The problem with voting- part 982
By Kent McManigal

One problem with voting is that you can't vote for half a politician. And if you try to create a half politician that you can agree with, you can be punished by enforcers for all sorts of "crimes" related to your unauthorized ninja surgery.

With most other choices in life you can choose the good stuff and reject the bad. In an order of french fries you can eat the good ones and toss the one that looks like it might just be a fried rat's tail. When out with your best friend, you can join him in doing the things you like, but you can let him go on his own way if he wants to whack hornet nests with a tennis racket while wearing only underwear.

Is the repeal of gun laws possible?
By John Longenecker

The answer is Yes.

The key, of course, is to educate the mainstream electorate on a very simple concept, and it isn't guns.  Educating the electorate means relating how gun control has affected them as non-gun owners by growing government in areas affecting everyone... and having anything to do with guns only at first.

NRA issues statement on Grassley ATF inquiry
by David Codrea

The National Rifle Association has weighed in on the unfolding story of a Project Gunrunner operation gone awry.  In a February 11 Institute for Legislative Action statement, the association informed its members that “U.S. Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) is calling on the agency to fully respond to his inquiries into the case.”

Per the release:

Senator Grassley has demonstrated that he is determined to uncover the truth regarding BATFE's investigative tactics, even as BATFE seems intent on shutting down his investigation.

LP unveils Wall of Shame at CPAC
By Garry Reed

Libertarians are not Republicans. To prove this point to any lingering doubters the Libertarian Party is displaying a Wall of Shame at their booth at this weekend's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in the nation's capital.

Photos of prominent Republicans are pictured on the display along with libertarian-view captions. Mike Huckabee is labeled a liberal for supporting so many tax increases. Newt Gingrich is depicted as a global warming supporter.
