Obama unveils revised $1 trillion health plan MSNBC "Obama would create competitive insurance markets, closely regulated by federal and state officials." Mama's Note: Oxymoron statement of the week. Nathan' thoughts: Along with "civilian defense force" and "mandatory volunteer community service" and many others. From Wikipaedia: "Doublethink is a word described in the fictional language of Newspeak and the act of simultaneously accepting as correct two mutually contradictory beliefs. It is related to, but distinct from, hypocrisy and neutrality. Its opposite is Cognitive Dissonance, where the two beliefs cause conflict in one's mind. Doublethink is an integral concept of George Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four." The First Citizen looks more and more like Big Brother all the time. (Read the rest here) Announcement

Are
the Additional Questions on the Census and American
Community Survey just Another Usurpation of Power? By Robert Greenslade © Nitwit Press In a few weeks, every household in these United States will begin receiving the 2010 Census form in the mail. The long form used in the past has been replaced with a new short form. Beginning this year, information previously requested on the old long form will be incorporated into a separate document called the “American Community Survey.” This survey will be sent to a small percentage of the population on a rotating basis throughout the decade. According to the Census Bureau—“no household will receive the survey more often than once every five years.” Rumor has it this will be expanded, eventually, to cover every household during the 10 year period between the constitutionally mandated Census. unquestionably is one of the
nation's most powerful political figures. So, as Majority Leader,
how
could he be so wrong on Domestic Violence?
Arguing in favor of a jobs bill and speaking
before the
Senate, he
uttered - even by Washington standards - some of the more unusual
comments to come from a politician. Senator Reid's comments are quoted in The Hill. To really capture the full impact of his comments, however, you need to view them on You-Tube for which this blog contains a link. The Hill quotes Senator Reid as saying: (Read the rest here) External Articles
“Yeah, but what does that Three Percent thing MEAN?” By Mike Vanderboegh The other day I ran into a fellow who thought
he was a Three Percenter but he wasn’t sure. “Yeah,” he said, “but what
does that Three Percent thing MEAN?” I explained more or less thusly:
Three Percent: The number of colonists who took the field to actively fight against King George III. Three Percent: The number of America’s armed citizenry today who can be counted on to actively resist any future restrictions on firearms, or indeed, any more attacks on the God-given natural liberties which are codified in the Constitution (and some that aren’t). and long ago actually started making it worse. Each day we see
more and more things criminalized. For what? Usually
because someone, somewhere was upset that something unfortunate
happened. Yet, unfortunate things will continue to happen no
matter how many "laws" are dreamed up.

One of the most reliable risks in periodic writing today is an essay from William Norman Grigg. His Rubicon In The Rear-View and The Thin Blue Whine series are heavy-hitting classics, and one can count on almost anything emanating from Pro Libertate as not just link-worthy but shout-from-the-rooftops worthy. Lately, though, the man has just plain been on
fire, and it's all one can do just to keep up on the reading end. (Read

Paranoid UK cops bully photographers By Garry Reed Now that UK authorities have seized every
rifle, shotgun, handgun and popgun in the country they need something
else to do. So they seize and arrest photographers at their whim.
The latest incarnation of this phenomenon occurred earlier this week when a man was confronted by mall security and threatened with arrested by police for being a pedophile because he was seen photographing his own son having fun on a coin-operated train ride.
