National defense - Brain-dead leaders?
Biden vs. Cheney on terror policy
Washington Post
Vice President Biden and his predecessor, Richard B. Cheney, engaged in a virtual debate Sunday that highlighted how little progress has been made over the past year -- and across consecutive administrations -- in resolving the central national security questions raised by the attacks of Sept. 11...

Most of this squabble is pure politics - the "outs" and the "ins" fussing. But it is important to remember that our national security has left its fundamentals, abandoned its bedrock foundation: the simple statement: "A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." We all know that in the past nine years, we have departed still further from this requirement. It is worth reading this brief editorial from six years ago. Neither of these men bothered to go back to this. (Read the rest here)

I WISH JOE STACK HAD NOT KILLED HIMSELF
By Chuck Baldwin

I really wish Joe Stack had not killed himself, however. We need each other. By taking his life, he reduced our strength. The global elites delight in our demise. As we grow weaker, they grow stronger.

But the fight is not over; the battle is not lost! Rumblings of freedom's revival can be felt across the length and breadth of this nation. The clanging of liberty's resolve can be heard in hamlets and villages from Montana to South Carolina. There are still millions of us--from virtually every walk of life--who will not surrender our liberties without a fight! And we have not yet begun to fight!

So, to the rest of us Joe Stacks out there: let's not fly our planes into buildings. Let's not end our lives prematurely. Instead, get mad; get organized; get educated; start equipping your heart, mind, and body for the battle ahead. Let's fight; let's study; let's prepare; let's make every would-be tyrant on Capitol Hill and Wall Street know that we are not going to sit back and let them steal our country. Let's send a message, in no uncertain terms, that if they want our pound of flesh, they are going to have to come and get it--and if they do, it's going to cost them a whole lot more than a pound of theirs!(Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. “Choose this day whom you will serve.”: An Open Letter to American Law Enforcement.
Mike Vanderboegh

When a president and Congress robs one set of people to enrich their cronies, when they violate the settled rule of law regarding bankruptcy to stiff secured creditors in the case of General Motors while rewarding self-anointed unsecured creditors -- their political allies, the auto unions -- the rest of the population cannot fail but conclude that we are no longer under the rule of law, but the rule of men, which is to say, the law of the jungle. Or, put another way, they -- the “authorities” -- can do anything that the citizenry can’t or won’t stop them from doing. This is the societal Catch 22 we are now in (and have been for a while) that I call “Waco Rules.” (Read the entire article at the source website. Use the back button to return.)

'Conservative' Bill O'Reilly supports gun confiscation in emergencies
by David Codrea

You admit the government can't control things, that is, it can't fulfill its prime function of protecting life and property, and your solution is to render those trying to protect their own defenseless, and to leave good people at the mercy of roving mobs?

You consider peaceable Americans exercising unalienable rights in the time when they most need them a threat to authority and control? Who do you think the true controlling authorities are? Just what document do you think authorizes state powers? And the people who would argue that point are "extreme"? (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. The 'Sleep it off' bill
By Kent McManigal

The passed-out-drunk Albuquerque LEO should have waited a while.  He and the deputy who gave him "Only One" treatment might have avoided a lot of trouble if they had waited until Senate Bill 151 passes.

The bill would once again make it "legal" for a drunk person to "sleep it off" in their parked car.  Rational people have already pointed out that this is the responsible thing to do when you realize you are not sober enough to drive, but the current "law" makes it seem better to take the chance to get home rather than risk the almost certain fate of being arrested for recognizing you shouldn't be driving.  After all, a sleeping person is a stationary target. Here...now will you please shut up?
By Kevin Wilmeth

Remember the story of the guy who got a Taser up his cornhole because he didn't comply meekly and quickly enough?

Well, it now seems that he's getting a settlement from Boise's finest.  Which is a joke, of course, since it's not their money in the first place, and they won't be in the least bit inconvenienced by it.  No, it's more accurate to say that he's getting a settlement from everyone who has been taxed or fined (two kinder, gentler words for extorted) by the City of Boise.

Get it?  Crime doesn't pay--you do.  Over, and over, and over again. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. Use the back button to return.)

Admit it America, we are Joe Stack
By Garry Reed

But notice that everyone in the public eye, those mainstream straight-arrow conformist politicians, media mavens and opinion makers of every version and variety, eagerly rushed to brand him a sicko, psycho, wacko, freako schizoid nutcase, hailed by loonies as an antigovernment hero, champion of right-wing fringe groups, idol of the Tea Party and the poster boy cynically and contemptibly used by the political left to discredit and demonize the entire political right.

Some strutting self-promoting opinionizers called his suicide note the ravings of a madman. But it wasn't. It was no more angry or disjointed than a thousand rants on a thousand websites found everywhere every day all over the blogosphere.
