Congress in Action
Proposal
Requires House to Post Bills Online Hours Before VoteCNSNews.com Before health care legislation or any other issue is
voted on by
Congress, the public should have 72 hours to review it, according to a
bipartisan resolution in the House. The resolution comes in a year when
the $787-billion, 1,073-page stimulus bill was approved after the
public had just 12 hours to review the final version. The $846-billion
cap-and-trade legislation that passed the House this summer was 1,428
pages long and available just 16 hours before the vote.
What a joke! You don't think that this Congress is going to pass this - or follow it even if they do? And which of us can READ let alone ANALYZE garbage like this - 1,073 pages in 72 hours? Eyewash like this is NOT the answer -taking 99% of the power away from Congress is the answer.
It’s Not the People, It’s the Machine by Michael Gaddy Every two years in this country there exists a
mania we call elections
where those involved in the electoral process work endless hours and
spends billions of dollars in an effort to put "good" men/women into
elected offices. This, each person believes, will improve/change the
government apparatus and everyone will be better served. This is
analogous to believing that if one could place the right person on my
Harley it would perform the tasks of a dump truck. The machine
(government) can only accomplish that which it was designed to do: all
governments, in their evolutionary process, eventually turn on their
progenitors; the machine eventually rules the individual, no matter
what "safeguards" have been put in place.
Nowhere is that more evident than where we are today in this country. No matter who is elected to operate the machine, the machine continues in its quest to destroy all it considers adversarial to the goal of total control and domination. I Dreamed I Was a Signatory In My Maidenform Bra by L. Neil Smith Libertarians take their own philosophy too much
for granted. Their concept of what it can accomplish is too abstract.
They wrongly assume others can see its potential as clearly as they do.
They often fail to see it themselves. As a remedy, they must ask
themselves, each day for the rest of their lives, certain fundamental
questions. Why are we Libertarians? What do we wish to accomplish? What
constitutes success? By what signs will we know we've won? What's in it
for us? What's in it for me? What do I really want?
Their present answers range from the negative to the obscure. 'Well, you know ..." "Because I want to see that bastard (the idea's to insert the bastard of your choice) get what's coming to him!" "Because what's going on now is wrong and I want to stop it" "Because I'm afraid civilization's gonna collapse unless we do something". A common variation noted by Dave Nolan is, "Because I know civilization is going to collapse—and I wanna be around to say 'I told you so'!" The best of this rather unsatisfactory lot I first heard from English Libertarians who said, "Because, even if I were convinced my efforts would came to nothing, I can't honestly imagine doing anything else." I'd like to share with you some of my answers. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. Use the back button to return.) Gun-control
and women, Part II
By Anthony Bouchard In Part I we looked at an incident that took place at the Wyoming State Capitol, now let's turn to the college campus. Recently a female student attending Laramie County Community College (LCCC) sent a written request to carry a firearm for which she has a permit. According to Wyoming statute: One must get “written consent of the security service of the college or university”. In this request the female student said she was concerned about campus shootings and her own general safety concerning campus violence. bunch
of over-zealous but
basically well-intentioned souls. That’s what I used to believe. But
last week news of two incidents came out that put feminism in whole
different light.
First, columnist Mike Adams reported on the plight of Mark Harwood, psychology professor at Humboldt State University which is located in Birkenstock-addled northern California. Based on extensive research, Harwood informed his students that women were as likely as men to engage in partner aggression.
Harwood probably was thinking of Sahel
Kazemi who murdered former NFL
star quarterback Steve McNair in July as he slept. Or Real Housewives
starlet Kelly Bensimon who was arrested for hitting her boyfriend. (Read

![]() Albuquerque Libertarian
Examiner This subject has been discussed in this column before. The fact, as I see it, is that rights don't overlap. If you have a right to something, the right doesn't go away just because of where you are. This most often crops up in gun rights discussions, where I am in the minority with my views. There is no need for "laws" that affirm your right to not be raped while at work or at the store. So it is with your other rights. No one can claim that by hiring you or opening for business their act negates your rights in any way. That would mean you have no rights; only privileges.
A recent column by the Dallas Libertarian Examiner caused me to think about this again. The more I contemplate it, The more clearly I see it this way, and the less I am able to see the other point of view. I know that's not good. So, convince me I am wrong. By Kevin Wilmeth There you have it. The FBI hath spake,
and the FBI does not lie. (Gosh, why would they?)
Once again, the state has evaluated the actions of the state and determined that the state acted in accordance with the laws of the state. And you really should stop asking petulant questions about the state's actions, lest you wind up added to their list of unreliables. Don't make us trot out the "national security" defense on your arse... Just go back to sleep and it'll all be okay... (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. Use the back button to return.) Libertarianism 101: What's the libertarian position on Gun Rights? By Garry Reed Some gun advocates have no qualms about
violating other people's rights in pursuit of their own preferred gun
rights. This was illustrated recently by a fellow Examiner who declared
that Arizona's new law that "permits" gun owners to keep a firearm
locked inside their vehicle even when parked on private property owned
by a business is a "victory for Arizona gun owners."
But it's actually a defeat for private property rights. Many people simply don't understand that there is no such thing as the "right" to violate a right, and that if property rights are not protected no other rights, including gun rights, are possible.
