September 14, 2009 ![]() Libertarian Commentary on The News 06 - 12 September By Nathan A. Barton © 2009 Due
to work load, this may be a much briefer commentary than
usual.
This week, we have seen still more fracturing of both our economy and
society. Even while it is evident that the measures taken to date
have
failed, the First Citizen and his Servants (both official ministers and
the slavish public and "non-government" types) have launched new
initiatives to create MORE regulation and MORE bailouts and MORE
destruction of the dollar and economic sectors. Even while we
remember
the 9th anniversary of the Bloody Tuesday attacks, we take actions (or
fail to take actions) that would protect us from such attacks -
whatever their origins - in the future. More and more of us are
condemned as evil fascists and racists: ironic indeed when the cause
for the accusations is people pointing out that the First Citizen and
his Ministers and supporters are Transnational socialists and
Communists (International Socialists) and Nazis (National Socialists),
based on their actions and words, and racists who play the race card
daily in response to criticisms virtually identical to those made by
themselves against GOP and even libertarian candidates and office
holders in the past.
Still, millions more have learned about the evils of government-run schools which give the First Citizen a free propaganda outlets, have been encouraged by even a corrupt Congressman who is willing to tell the First Citizen to his face in public that he lies, and have been able to join in yet another series of gatherings to put the lie to Congress and Executive and Judiciary - nationally and in fifty sovereign states - and realize that something MUST change. And soon. (Read the rest here) ![]() They Count on Your Greed to Trump Your Compassion By Iloilo Marguerite Jones © 2008 Compassion is a human characteristic. Even the Neanderthals, our human ancestors, cared for their elderly and infirm. It is one of the means we can use to evaluate if the organism is human: do they care for their old, infirm, and crippled? Do they have the characteristic of compassion? Do they give of themselves to help others? No, that is not what the politicians are doing. They grow rich by stealing your money and giving only a little of it to those in need. Mostly, they keep the money to build their own comfortable nests, while we struggle to make ends meet with what is left of our wages after government takes more than half. Look again at the health care plan before you. Look very closely. They are telling you another lie. It's there, and you can read it. Look again. They are telling a real whopper this time. They want to steal more from you to keep their scheme going, and only give back a little. But it gets worse. (Read the rest here) ![]() External Article Health-Care “Reformers” Duck the Hard Questions by Sheldon Richman The most outrageous claim that Obama’s
supporters make is that all opponents of “reform” are satisfied with
the status quo. That’s nonsense. The strongest critics of Obama-ism are
those who argue that the current system is objectionable precisely
because it is a government-business cartel built on anti-competitive
regulation, rigged tax laws, licensing, patents, and other privileges.
While the “reformers” accept this status quo, proposing only marginal
adjustments, the economist-critics demonstrate that free-market
competition — the separation of medicine and state — is the only way to
lower costs and improve service while protecting liberty and privacy. (Read

Killing America's
Kids
by Fred Reed Photographs are death to a war, boys and girls. They can asphyxiate a war faster than roadside bombs can even dream. Gates does not want the sprawling somnolent inattentive beast, the public, to see what his wars really are. In wars, there are many enlightening things to see. For example, the Marine with a third of his face and half a lung, going ku-kuk-kuk as red gunk rolls out of his mouth and he drowns in his blood. Ruined or dying teenagers whimpering the trinity of the badly wounded, Mother, wife, and water. The brain-shot guy jerking like an epileptic as he tries not to die. Ever see brain tissue from gunshot? I have. It makes a pink spew across the ground. Like strawberry chiffon. Gates does not want you to see this. You would puke, buy a bottle of bourbon, and take to the streets. He knows it. CBS could end these wars in a week if it aired what really happens. Gates cannot afford to let the dam break. PR is all. up with corruption and incompetence. On Thursday, we saw a
convenient way we could demand hearings into ATF corruption allegations.

Rep. Joe Wilson Calls Out the Liberal Lies By Carey Roberts Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina infuriated millions of smug liberals Wednesday night when he yelled out during President Obama’s congressional speech, “You lie!” To which I heartily respond, “Representative Wilson, you are one red-blooded American hero.” Peddling his healthcare plan to an increasingly skeptical electorate, Obama claimed, “The reforms I am proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.” The truth is, Obama’s healthcare reform bill contains no mechanism to verify whether persons are U.S. citizens before they receive government benefits. So the president’s statement was, a-hem, highly misleading. For years, conservatives have been unfailingly polite and duly respectful when confronted with the standard array of leftist slanders, half-truths, distortions, and outright prevarications. Examiner There are a lot of conspiracy theories concerning
the events of September 11, 2001. Regardless of what those on
both sides say, you and I will never know the absolute truth of exactly
what happened on those planes or in the destroyed buildings- or
anywhere else we weren't. Never. Not unless time travel
becomes possible (don't hold your breath) and you can personally go
watch the events for yourself with no interference. And even
then, how could you ever be sure that people with their own time
machine and an agenda haven't meddled before you got there?
Enough with the fantasy scenario.

Libertarian Examiner
By Kevin Wilmeth Remember now, the Brady Bunch continually remind us that police and military are the "Only Ones" professional and competent enough to be considered safe with firearms in public. The rest of us would be at best dangerous loons, putting everyone in our general vicinities at great risk of injury or death. And how about this zinger:
I'm sorry: "involuntary manslaughter"?
For Pete's sake, that's not even comprehensible English.
Exactly what part of pointed a pistol at a human being's
forehead, issued a verbal challenge, and pulled the trigger in response
can be called involuntary? (Read

their parents and the
instructors they choose for them. For adults, education is a matter
between student and teacher. Education is never the business of
government; brainwashing is the business of government. All tax-funded
education falls under the definition of brainwashing because taxation
is coercion. Voluntary education is not brainwashing because, by
definition, it doesn't involve coercion. Contrary to the coercive
public education monopoly (where are those "Trust Busters" when you
need them?) banishing government from all classrooms would cause
opportunities for education to explode. (Read
