Our right to defend ourselves:
Obama Administration Mentions Reinstating ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban
CNSNews.com
"As President Obama indicated during the campaign, there are just a few gun-related changes that we would like to make, and among them would be to reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons," Attorney General Eric Holder told reporters at the Justice Department Wednesday.

Based on the prices I've just seen at a gun show in Southwest Colorado, Debby and I aren't the only ones who knew this was coming, and a lot of folks take it seriously. A LOT of people are buying guns and ammo at as fast a pace as they can afford it, expecting that more and more gun control (of the government type) is coming as fast as Mr. Obama and Mr. Holder can bring it on. Stock up now, people, and find good places to hide it.

Mama's Note: No, don't hide them! Prepare carefully to USE THEM. Be as visible with them as you can. Make sure that the brownshirts and criminals the government will send to collect them understand that when they attempt it they will pay the cost - in their own lives. If we don't prepare to carry that out, we are lost.

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!

Neither Preditor Nor Prey
By Mark Spungin

How long can you - should you - turn the other cheek? How many insane "laws" and outright violations of basic human rights, theft of property and the indignity of involuntary servitude are people to endure?

The people in this story discover that the UN "treaty" to ban all guns is the "line in the sand" they had been talking about for a very long time. The day of reckoning comes, and at least some of the people in Wyoming decide that they will not endure the confiscation of their rightful tools for self defense, even if it means a guerrilla war with the Federal government and the almost universally distrusted FBI and BATFE.

This is a story about terrible things, horrible violence and needless death on all sides. It is the story of a terrible necessity, forced on innocent people who decide it is better to risk death and destruction rather than kiss the hands of those who would enslave them. (Read the rest here)

Backpedaling on the new 'assault weapons' ban
by David Codrea

Well, that didn't take long. It seems Attorney General Eric Holder's announcement that the Obama administration would seek a new ban on semiautomatic firearms was premature, and the damage control teams have arrived to put the torn facades back up. First, we had House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "throw[ing] cold water" on the idea: (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. Use the back button to return.)

VAWA Subsidizes Green Card Scams
By Carey Roberts

The Violence Against Women Act underwrites Green Card lottery schemes, lures foreign women into prostitution, and tars innocent American men as abusers – all at taxpayer expense. Here’s how it works. Green Card Girls – women who inveigle unsuspecting single men to bring them to the United States -- are a well-known fixture in the international dating scene. An internet search on the term turns up chat room discussions, how-to books, X-rated videos, and more. (Read the rest here)

Calling All (Soon To Be) Criminals
by Michael Gaddy

For several years I have been of the opinion there is no political answer to the coming unrest in this country and the subsequent move to seize firearms from the populace. I have written often of my total lack of faith in the National Rifle Association (NRA) and their belief in "compromise" with the enemy as a means of retaining our God-given rights. I have never understood why we beg from man (the state) for that which is already ours! When the NRA’s belief in compromise led them to promoting the growth of the state apparatus used to deny our 2A rights, (BATFE) my beliefs were confirmed. While I once also supported Gun Owners of America, (GOA) and still believe them to be honest and sincere in their support for the 2A, I find their approach to be based on convincing politicians to do what is morally and constitutionally right. We all should realize "that ain’t gonna happen."

Loving liberty will not be sufficient in the coming hard times. Gun owners, constitutionalists, and believers in freedom are going to be faced with some life-changing decisions. Again, to quote my grandfather, "we are going to be forced to put some wheels on our prayers." (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. Use the back button to return.)

No matter how big, government regulatory agencies can never be “big enough”
by Michael Owen

“This is the standard response to the inevitable failure of all government programs, they are ‘chronically underfunded,’ they never have enough resources to do a good job, etc. This is endemic; it is symptomatic of the systemic flaw in the government model. We are told that the market (i.e. the people) are incapable of taking responsibility for X (their own protection, the safety of the food or drugs they ingest, the soundness of their investments, etc). The government then creates a bureaucracy with the stated goal of taking responsibility for X. The more gullible segments of the public then becomes more lax; they don’t have to worry about providing for their own security, that’s what the police are for. They don’t have to worry about the soundness of their investments, that’s what the SEC is for. The problem, of course, is that indeed the government can never have enough resources to take responsibility for all of the people that it has tricked into behaving irresponsibly.” (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. Set the Spin Cycle to "Race Agitate"
By William N. Grigg

Wherever a spark of racial conflict is struck, we can expect to find the Feds -- as well as their allies and deniable assets -- spreading accelerant. If the resulting conflagration is big enough, our rulers -- helpful people that they are -- will be more than willing to extinguish it, albeit by sucking the oxygen of individual liberty out of our society completely.

It would obviously be to the advantage of our rulers for Americans to think of ourselves as members of ethic collectives that they define for their purposes. The most obvious of those purposes would be simply to keep us divided and inconsolably hostile toward each other. This process, as Holder probably understands, begins with supplying a racial subtext for discussion of practically every public issue of consequence. America's Human Traffickers
by Garry Reed

Exhibit A – Even before stumbling through the oath of office President-Elect Barack Obama picked Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff. Emanuel is an unapologetic slave trader wannabe. Civil Liberties Examiner J.D. Tuccille, in his Examiner.com article, “Obama's chief of staff choice favors compulsory universal service,” notes that Emanuel co-wrote a book “that calls for, among other things, compulsory service for all Americans ages 18 to 25.” Emanuel described his hijacking tactics this way: “Young people will know that between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five, the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service”. His book is called The Plan: Big Ideas for America. It should have been named: The scam: Big Chains for Americans. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. The Independent Institute
Obama’s Policy on Civil Liberties: Bush Lite?
Ivan Eland

Barack Obama entered the presidency as one of the most rhetorically pro-civil liberties politicians in recent memory. And shortly after taking office, he drew applause from friends of liberty for promulgating executive orders closing Guantanamo and CIA secret prisons, ending CIA torture, suspending kangaroo proceedings at military tribunals, and pledging more openness than the secretive Bush administration. Unfortunately, instead of prosecuting Bush administration officials, including George W. Bush, for violating criminal statutes against torture, illegal wiretapping of Americans, and other misdeeds—thus avoiding the bad precedent of giving a president a free pass on illegal acts—Obama appears ready to vindicate the prior administration’s anti-terrorism program by adopting Bush Lite.

Warning signs that Obama was softer on civil liberties than advertised came even before he took office, when as a Senator, he voted for blatantly unconstitutional legislation that allowed federal snooping into some e-mail messages and phone calls without a warrant. The Constitution implies that all government searches and seizures of private property require a judicially-approved warrant based on probable cause that a crime has been committed—with no exceptions mentioned, including for national security. The Future of Freedom Foundation
Socialism’s “Fatal Conceit”
by Ralph R. Reiland

The appeal of socialism, wrote Nobel-winning economist F. A. Hayek, “depends on the instinctual appeal of promised consequences.” The problem, argued Hayek, is that “socialism cannot possibly do what it promises.”

Socialism fails, unavoidably, because it is based on the flawed concept, the “fatal conceit,” that one man or one group, one cabinet of commanding officials or one central committee, or one team of planners from Harvard and Yale, can gather and understand enough information in order to reshape the world around them according to their wishes, reshape human nature, and design an economic system that can outstrip the overall and long run performance of the decentralized and basically self-ordering and spontaneous processes of the marketplace. From The Ludwig von Mises Institute
Stimulation by Government
by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.

The great failing of the Obama administration is that it is packed with people who show no apparent knowledge of the essential truths of liberal theory. That theory — which is the core of the American political contribution to, and the driving force of, modernity itself — is that freedom is the foundation of and the reason for social and economic flourishing. All evidence suggests they know nothing of this.

Obamites hold the opposite view, the one advanced by the pharaohs and emperors of old, all the way through the Talibans and Hugo Chavezes of our own time. It is the view that nothing is beyond the competence of the state and its great leader. Particularly in economic affairs, these people have a wildly inflated view of what the nation's chief executive can accomplish through sheer will.
