January
19, 2009 Closer and closer the thundering horde comes, as their expected victims search valiantly for some means of defense, only to find that too often, their defenses have been stolen away by those that they thought were their friends, or at least willing to let them live in peaceful coexistence. Such does not exist; you are as dead and digested if killed by a hyena as by a jackal, after all. Monday

following information was compiled from various sources.

Articles Individual ownership of a firearm no more qualifies the owner to protect themselves and their property and defend the rights granted by their creator than individual ownership of a cowboy hat qualifies the owner for the National Finals Rodeo. Responsible ownership of a firearm requires not only adequate training in its use, but also a mental mindset capable of formulating and implementing a plan should that tool ever be required. Irresponsible use of a firearm often provides opponents of the right to keep and bear arms a useful weapon, especially considering their willing accomplices in the congress and the media. The Bitter Fruits
of Compromise While the vast majority of emails I have received in response to my articles here and here, have been overwhelmingly positive, I have received quite a number from those who believe compromise with the state on the subject of concealed carry permits to somehow be positive, while others who continue in their support of the NRA have written to say, Neo, you must swallow the blue pill; life is good, the NRA is our friend. I am no psychologist, but I do understand the desire of those who have chosen to compromise feeling the need to be reinforced in their actions, so they attempt to convince others to do likewise. Compromise is the path of least resistance. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. Use the back button to return.)

(the) bill - volume two OK, where were we...? Right, we'd explored the licensing requirements that would be imposed on American gun owners if Rep. Bobby L. Rush (D-IL) has his way and H.R. 45, "Blair Holts Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009" is enacted into law. Now let's look at the bill's implementation effects, that is, further impositions on gun owners and expanded powers for government. 'volunteerism' bleeds taxpayers In a recent article the Boston Globe lauds a "hunger for service and belonging that was sweeping across the nation's high schools, college campuses, and online communities." Young people are hungering to volunteer their services in growing numbers, it seems, and plenty of organizations are snapping them up. The only problem is, very few of the organizations explicitly mentioned in the Globe article are actually "voluntary" ventures. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. The
Future of Freedom Foundation The money sluices are about to open wide on Capitol Hill. With a new Congress convened and a new president about to take office, we are likely to see record-shattering government expenditures. All inhibitions about deficit spending, as weak as they have been in recent years, are now dissolved. The motto among those in control is: Spend now! Why? To stimulate the economy. Well, thats a lousy reason. The economy doesnt need stimulation. It needs freedom. More precisely, we need freedom to pursue our ends through production and trade unmolested by know-nothing politicians in Washington and the 50 state capitals. Bureaucratic spending on infrastructure, food stamps, unemployment benefits, R&D, or whatever else the political (parasitic) class has in mind is precisely the opposite of what is needed. The
Independent Institute Banks, home builders, and auto manufacturers are not the only ones going belly-up these days. If we may credit Louis Uchitelles January 7 report in the New York Times, mainstream economists have, in effect, declared their intellectual bankruptcy. According to Uchitelle, Frightened by the recession and the credit crisis that produced it, the nations mainstream economists are embracing public spending to repair the damageeven those who have long resisted a significant government role in a market system. . . . Hundreds of economists who gathered here [in San Francisco] for the annual meeting of the American Economic Association seemed to acknowledge that a profound shift had occurred. At their last meeting, ideas about using public spending as a way to get out of a recession or about government taking a role to enhance a market system were relegated to progressives. The mainstream was skeptical or downright hostile to such suggestions. This time, virtually everyone voiced their support, returning to a way of thinking that had gone out of fashion in the 1970s. At this point, one cannot help but recall Proverbs 26:11: As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. From The Ludwig von Mises Institute At a taped video interview in my office, before the crew would start the camera, a man had to remove my Picasso prints from the wall. The prints are probably under copyright, they said. But the guy who drew them died 30 years ago. Besides, they are mine. Doesn't matter. They have to go. What about the poor fellow who painted the wall behind the prints? Why doesn't he have a copyright? If I scrape off the paint, there is the drywall and its creator. Behind the drywall are the boards, which are surely proprietary too. To avoid the "intellectual-property" thicket, maybe we have to sit in an open field; but there is the problem of the guy who last mowed the grass. Then there is the inventor of the grass to consider. Is there something wrong with this picture? (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. Use the back button to return.)

Do
you know a good liberty centered blog? The
main reason for this blog will be to make other's aware of how our freedom's
and liberties are being erroded by those in power. How they do not follow
the will or the intent of the United States Constitution, and how we can
slowy start to regain our lost freedoms and liberties. On a lighter note,
I will also post about some hobbies and interests that I have.
