As we honored the 44 anniversary of the D-Day invasion, and approach such items as Flag Day (Armed Forces Day), we need to ask ourselves, as many have have the heroes who gave so much for the Constitution, for liberty, for freedom, been betrayed? Or perhaps the best question is, how much have they been betrayed? In Asia, Communism remains strong and its major national power is wrecking the world economy (not that it doesnt have a lot of help from the Western powers to do so). In Africa, things are indeed getting darker in the Dark Continent. In Europe, the threat of Muslim power grows stronger each week while we continue to behave in an irrational manner in dealing with the heart of the Islamic world and Europe turns its back on freedom and liberty in general. And in the US well, we arent doing so well, are we? Makes you wonder what side we Americans are on, doesnt it? Asian
front: This really does hurt Korean consumers more than anyone but the political fallout is obvious. (Read the rest here)
A
Republic, If You Can Keep It The
United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican
Form of Government The American political and education systems have been very successful in convincing the people that the Founders established a national democracy when they wrote the Constitution. Nothing could be further from the truth. The members of the Federal [Constitutional] Convention of 1787 realized that pure democracy, government exercised directly by the people, was one of the worst systems of government ever devised. Therefore, they designed a republican or representative form of government, based on a written constitution, with checks and balances to restrain the majority from imposing democratic tyranny on the minority. Who's
Cele Castillo -- and Why Should You Care? Well, Mr. Castillo is a quiet old school teacher. But that's now, and then he was a whistle blower. In fact, he blew quite a big whistle. He blew it on Oliver North -- yes, that Oliver North -- and his apparent Iran Contra drug smuggling operations. You may have heard of the "Iran Contra Affair" which involved the Reagan Administration, in cahoots with the CIA, raising money to support the so-called "Contra" rebels in Nicaragua -- and delivering banned arms to Iran in return for the release of six American hostages. According to rock hard U.S. policy, this was a big no-no. The idea was that rewarding hostage takers would encourage more hostage taking. (Read the rest here)
America
Has NO Duty To Destroy Islam I was reminded of this the other day when I saw this video of Rod Parsley, a megachurch pastor and neocon sock puppet in Columbus, Ohio. The most warmongering bloodthirsty people in American society are megachurch Christians, many of whom just love demagoguery like Parsley's. Consider some of his proclamations. Islam is an anti-Christ religion that intends through violence to conquer the world. Yes, Islam is an anti-Christ religion, but no it is not intent on world domination. It has been centuries since a Muslim country conquered a non-Muslim country. For a refutation of many of the lies that terror warriors love to tell, look at this recent piece of dazzling brilliance and Shakespearean eloquence. (Read the rest here)

Corps Martial Law? -
An Indy Alert Update The Bush administration and its neo-con hardliners are cleverly preparing the U.S. military and the American people for martial law. Shortly after 9/11, they created a nationwide U.S. military Northern Command and a nationwide police force, Homeland Security. They wanted to protect us against more terror attacks, they said. Since then, NorthCom and HomeSec have been running increasingly intrusive martial law-style terror drills. They aim to set up a war-ready police state — one in which there will be no questions about past failures and crimes. (Read the rest here)

Trade not Free in Free World In early November, President Bush failed to win agreement from leaders of five South American countries on his pitch for a hemisphere-wide misnomered "free trade" accord. The idea of people trading things they don't want for things they do want was apparently so unpopular that demonstrators "had a cow," smashing windows, torching a US flag and stoning cops in Argentina, where the trade summit took place. Since trade is an excruciatingly complicated topic for most people, this tract, which can be folded into a pamphlet and handed out at Libertarian Party outreach booths, will attempt to clarify the concept. the S-word Doom Hillary's Nomination Bid? Like an over-hyped TV reality series that finally came to an end, Hillary has conceded the Democratic nomination race to Barack Obama. This past Saturday the Democratic Rules and Bylaws Committee drove the final nail in the coffin, declaring the vote of the Florida and Michigan delegates would only count for half. Predictably, the let-every-vote-count ladies were livid. "Someone wins, someone doesn't win, that's life," wailed Maryland treasurer Nancy Knopp. "But women don't want to be totally dissed." Articles Whatever the courts ultimately say about D.C. police checkpoints, I think its remarkable that, in the capital city of a republic established by the likes of Thomas Jefferson and Sam Adams, people who are not suspected of committing any crimes are being forced to show their documents at police roadblocks and justify their presence on public streets. Travel even local travel has now become a privilege to be dispensed by government officials only if you can satisfy them as to your reasons for going from one place to another. there be a better time to STOP VOTING? Can there be a better time to STOP VOTING? The Libertarian Party, a political organization, was started by and for libertarians. Since the Denver convention on Memorial weekend, 2008, it should now be painfully obvious that the political Partycreated by and for libertarianscannot be maintained and sustained by libertarians. What better proof could any libertarian need to convince himself or herself of the futility of solving problems by political means such as voting? The
Independent Institute At the behest of Iraqi Shii leader Moktada al-Sadr, his powerful faction staged a formidable protest this week against a likely U.S.-Iraqi agreement to establish a long-term U.S. military presence in Iraq, which would replace the United Nation-authorized U.S. occupation that expires at the end of 2008. This demonstration, and subsequent protests planned for the duration of the summer, should worry both governments. Indicative of the controversy on the horizon, al-Sadrs forces are not alone in their opposition to these secret negotiations; in fact, voices of dissent are emerging from all parts of Iraqi society. The Shii Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, usually a voice of moderation in a turbocharged and fractious Iraqi political system and arguably the most powerful person in Iraq, has called for a countrywide referendum on any such agreement concerning an extended U.S. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. The
Future of Freedom Foundation How can both be wrong? McCain and Obama are wrong because they operate from the imperial premise that virtually anything that goes on in the world is the business of the U.S. government. McCain, whose hero is the belligerent nationalist Theodore Roosevelt, embraces a policy of confrontation with our enemies i.e., foreign governments that have never threatened to attack the United States. He enthusiastically supported the invasion of Iraq, and his attitude toward Iran was made clear when he sang, Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran. From The Ludwig von Mises Institute But let's stop and think about how peculiar this is. What kind of theory of the world insists that houses and stocks always go up in price, whereas gas and grain prices always go down? That doesn't really make sense. A price is not set by natural law, nor are price movements intended to follow a preset pattern like the movements of stars. Prices are nothing but exchange ratios points of agreement between buyer and seller. They reflect many factors, none of them fixed parts of the universe.
