wannabes and cultural wars: Well, we could already figure out that Obama was no Biblical scholar, based on his pastor and his United Church of Christ congregations afrocentrism, Farrakan-honoring, beliefs (available on their website). He does seem to go out of his way to anger all the evangelicals who supposedly are leaning more left. They will find his liberal views easier to swallow than his bogus justification from the Bible for them. And it is clear that he sees no problem in killing babies (black or white). How can this person claim to be a follower of the Prince of Peace? (Of course, the question has to be asked of his two opponents, McCain and Clinton, as well.) Mama's Note: Indeed... the only question to be decided this election cycle is: Do you want to be hung, shot or drowned. Those seem to be the only options if you insist on sticking to electoral politics. I choose "NONE OF THE ABOVE." (Read the rest here) (2 full pages again!)

For Jesus I have heard it said that "God wants spiritual fruits and not religious nuts." I was reminded of this last week when someone e-mailed asking my opinion of Fred Phelps and his Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka. Phelps and his followers are thoroughly sick and hateful people. These people are well-known for showing up at rallies and funerals with banners saying things like "God hates fags", "AIDS cures fags", "Thank God for dead soldiers" and for thanking God for the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and the ensuing tsunami. These people positively exude hatred. They just drip with it. (Read the rest here) America
needs Gun Control ... for Bureaucrats In a distant corner of Drydirt County, Oklahoma, a woman dressed in khaki steps from behind a tree and points her service revolver at a figure standing in his campsite. "Hold it right there," she snarls. "I saw you scrape those scrambled eggs onto the ground. That's an ecological crime."
"Well," the man snaps, "I'm a Federal Drylands Inspector and I was just..."
The EPA officer's weapon barks once and the Drylands Inspector drops like a rock.
"Had me worried there," the Deputy murmurs as she holsters her piece. "For a second I thought the sonofabitch was one of those damned protected Federal Egg Inspectors." (Read the rest here) The
Terror Date Code -- Beware the Odds of March! "There's a lot of symbolism involved when terrorists choose their targets and the dates of their attacks." -- Jack Cloonan, former FBI agent on the bin Laden squad and ABC news consultant Terror attacks are more likely to occur on anniversaries of earlier attacks. Everyone agrees about that. The Oklahoma City bombing of April 19 occurred exactly two years after the Branch Davidian conflagration in Waco. The Bali bombing of Oct. 12, 2002 occurred exactly two years after the attack on the USS Cole. In the summer of 2007, the Bush administration claimed to have broken up a terror plot to blow up several airplanes simultaneously as they flew from the UK to the US -- on 9/11. They regularly tell us that another terror attack, probably much worse than 9/11, is not just a matter of if, but when. Lately they've been more vociferous than usual. (Read the rest here) Hillary's
Scheme to Revamp the Traditional Family Hillary Clinton's personal life has long made a mockery of traditional family values - her betrothal to a serial womanizer, the refusal to have a traditional wedding, and her smears of the females who later accused her husband of sexual impropriety. Let's recall her acrid put-down of stay-at-home moms: "I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do is fulfill my profession." And when Jennifer Flowers claimed she had had a 12-year affair with Bill, Hillary ludicrously remarked, "I'm not sitting here, some little woman standing by my man like Tammy Wynette." If that's not contempt for women in traditional roles, I don't know what is. (Read the rest here)

Children Are Listening. For What Do You Stand? Most parents want the best for their children. They want them to grow up to be proud, strong individuals, capable of meeting most, if not all, of life's challenges. They want their children to be good parents to their offspring, as well. Any of these desires depends almost entirely on what goes on at home and on the quantity and quality of both education and experience while they are growing up. But the hard truth is, children are like sponges and they soak up the environment in which they live, in most cases, mirroring their parents. If their parents are slovenly and lazy, children have a very high risk of turning out slovenly and lazy. If their parents are industrious, creative, responsible and self reliant, children are quite likely to take on these qualities. If their parents are involved in the community, children have a greater chance of also being involved. If the parents take an interest in and are a part of the political process, that experience will rub off on their children. But if the parents are apathetic and indifferent, their children will learn apathy and indifference. (Read the rest here)

The Archives Few issues seem to divide lovers of liberty in the American Union more than the issue of open borders, and related immigration issues. Although open borders has long been a staple of Libertarian Party platforms, it has been an issue which has kept some people OUT of the Libertarian Party, and has caused them to vote against Libertarian candidates. Even many staunch supporters of freedom have said, at least privately, “I admit I have some reservations about just opening up the borders.” There are some common concerns that come up, and they deserve to be addressed properly and respectfully, and not simply shrugged off as “statism” or some kind of suppressed authoritarian tendency. People who have “some reservations” are not alone, even in the most “radical” parts of the freedom movement. (Read the rest here)

Reality Is No Vice, and Being Oblivious Is No Virtue America is an amazing placeone of the wealthiest and freest nations on earth. Yet because Europe has so many more cultures and languages in one contained area, Americans, compared to their European brethren, seem like country bumpkins in their knowledge and understanding of what is happening in the world. Unfortunately, this tin ear for global affairs sometimes afflicts U.S. leaders and media, too. The obliviousness of the American people, politicians, and press is especially acute when it comes to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In Iraq, the media, always concerned that they might be branded as liberal or unpatriotic, portray dramatic improvements in Iraq because of the U.S. troop surge orchestrated by the heroic Gen. David Petraeus. In fact, this portrayal has been so rosyand so accepted hook, line, and sinker by the American peoplethat the Republicans will attempt to use progress in Iraq against the Democrats in the 2008 election! From The Ludwig von Mises Institute Nationalism
and Socialism Nationalism appears to be a modern phenomenon having its origin in the nationalities constituted in Europe between the 16th and the 19th century concomitantly with the disappearance of feudalism and of the Romano-Germanic Empire that came into being with Charlemagne and was totally liquidated with the unification of Italy. In fact, however, the spirit of nationalism is very ancient.[1] It has been and still is present as a factor in both political and economic history. The only thing that has changed is its form. Articles The folks at the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship & Immigration Services have devised a new citizenship test for those few illegal immigrants who, for some unknown reason, are actually trying to become lawful citizens. The new questions, the bureau claims, are calculated to better measure how well newbies understand what it means to be an American rather than how well they can memorize answers. Which means that citizen wannabes will simply memorize the new politically correct answers to the new questions and will still not know what it really means to be an American. the Presidential Election! Nothing could be better for the country than cancelling the 2008 election. Leave the office of the presidency empty. I can see only one possible justification for having a president of the United States: to preside over the dismantling of the federal government. If you think this is a radical idea, think again. This is, in part, what people have long voted for, even if they never actually get it. I can hardly remember a time when a president has been elected who didn't promise to get the government off our backs. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website.
