Our
right of self defense: Sadly, many states do NOT allow CCW in public buildings, leaving them vulnerable to attack. More, many more, actions like this teacher is taking are needed in every state. At least in Michigan, one legislator is trying to fix this problem, as the story below relates. Mama's Note: While I agree, Nathan, I think that if she is willing to continue to go into that place unarmed, then she's not really that serious about it. I doubt the problem is going to go away as long as we beg government to "allow" us to defend ourselves. When people stop groveling and take serious steps to simply carry out their basic rights as human beings, this nonsense will go away. (Read the rest here) (Two pages!)

People Up: The Fun, Cool, Christian Thing To Do Mr. Proctor discusses some of the more outlandish ways churches are recruiting new people nowadays. The one that caught my eye was a church here in Metro Denver that I have attended on and off for several years. He refers to a New York Times article on the use of this Halo game to attract teenagers. I watched a few Halo videos on YouTube. This is violent stuff! What is it doing in church? Christians are famous for crusading against excessive sex and violence in entertainment. They remind us time and again that life imitates art. (After Columbine -- 10 miles from Colorado Community Church -- much was made of the killers' penchant for violent video games.) However, if violent material gets kids into church, who cares? "Smart
Growth" and Other Insanities Man-caused global warming, smart growth and sustainable development are the outcome of United Nations conferences in Sweden, Brazil and South Africa that created the flawed and socialist policy called Agenda 21 . Its sole purpose was to raise the third world up, at the expense of the United States and its citizens. President Clinton signed an executive order that codified Agenda 21 into American law without a treaty being ratified by the U. S. Congress, as required by our Constitution. This CABAL of the United Nations, Europe, environmental groups, our government and the news media that aides and abets the CABAL, will not stop until they stuff you all into large cities where they can more easily control you. Getting you out of your cars is just another way to control your behavior and they are doing it by lying to you. But that's OK, because a State Supreme Court just recently ruled that it was perfectly legal for politicians to lie to the people. (Read the rest here)
A
Nuclear Nightmare -- The Portland Plot The satiric article below is only hypothetical, an attempt to write what could be the news on Friday, October 19. According to official sources and official media, an attack like the one I will describe is not a matter of if, but of when. They do not present it as a possibility but as a probability, and even as an inevitability. I have often wondered -- and often written -- about how it is that they can be so sure of what's in our future. Given that they are so sure, though, it seems prudent to present this plausible scenario to an interested public. (Read the rest here)

at Home: DV Courts in America October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is a very real and significant problem in America. This month would be a good time to address the attempt of state governments to combat domestic violence through the issuance of temporary and permanent restraining orders. In the wake of the attack on the World Trade Center and our nation’s response to terrorism domestically and abroad, there has been a flurry of negative reaction in the press to the subjecting of suspected terrorists to trial by military tribunal without the constitutional protections afforded other criminals. As John F. Kearney, III, put it in the March 24, 2003 issue of the New Jersey Lawyer, “All of us want as much done by government as possible to protect us from more Sept. 11 attacks or worse. None of us wants to be nuked, poisoned or fall victim to a suicide bomber. But none of us should want, either, to give away our hard-won liberties.” (Read the rest here)

The Archives If you're looking for a paragon of female virtue, don't waste your time in Chappaqua, New York. Of all American politicians, there is no one who is more ethically-challenged or morally-tainted than Hillary Rodham Clinton. Do
a Google search on "Hillary Clinton" and "scandal,"
and your computer's memory chip will choke, gag, and cough. Here's just
a partial list to wet your whistle:

Future of Freedom Foundation The New Hampshire Union Leader recently attacked Republican presidential candidate Ron Pauls noninterventionist foreign-policy views, making the standard pro-empire, pro-intervention arguments that have come to characterize the conservative movement. The paper implied that the United States should continue meddling and intervening all over the world. The paper harked back to interventionists favorite war, World War II, ridiculing the vast majority of American people who opposed U.S. entry into that conflict. Not surprisingly, the paper failed to mention why Americans were so opposed to entering into World War II: still fresh in their minds was the bitter fruit of World War I. (Read the rest here)
The
Independent Institute WASHINGTONThe recent extradition of former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori to face charges of human rights violations and corruption is a welcome development. It is also a monumental challenge to the institutions of a country that has not been able to establish the rule of law as successfully as it has been able to generate economic growth in recent years. Among other charges, Fujimori, who was extradited to Lima by Chilean authorities, will be tried in relation to two civilian massacres at the hands of a military death squad active during his regime. His political organizationmostly a collection of relatives and croniesis using its 13 members of Congress to pressure the government and the magistrates to set him free. (Read the rest here)
Individual
Liberty - 101 In the eyes of governments, the private sector is a big buffet table. The enticing cuisine is just sitting there, waiting to be dished out to satisfy the appetites of the rent seekers who reinforce government power. This is not merely a consequence of the statist inclinations of the ministers and bureaucrats in power at any given time. In fact, the interests of these rent seekers is carefully entrenched in the very fabric and vocabulary of the government decision-making process, where they are routinely consulted as "stakeholders" in decisions that concern their "interests." And of course, this includes decisions that encroach on the rights of property owners to the benefit of these rent seekers, either through restraining the ability of the former to freely use their property, or through outright confiscation. External Articles My friend has a couple of dogs. Theyre friendly and gregarious animals, so it made perfect sense that a local teacher would think they could play part of a lesson plan that would delight the average second grader. Because the dogs like that sort of thing, and because my friend is a nice guy, he agreed to bring the dogs in to the school for an hour or so one day. But upon his agreement, he was advised that hed have to undergo a criminal background check and provide his fingerprints to the local sheriff accordingly. And thats where he balked.
