Commentary on The News,
19- 25 August, 2007 (THIS WEEK: Im not sure if Im being possessed, schizoid, or something worse, but it is almost as if someone else wrote the first part of this weeks comments. So be prepared.) Well, my comrades have been pestering me for years, and I have to finally admit to the error of my ways. They have been arguing with me for a long time, trying to show me where all the serious errors, all the major problems have come from in this world today, and telling me how my mind has been so badly warped by the past six years that I think that many of these problems existed before 2001, or even before 1988. Fortunately, due to their persistence, I have seen my folly and now freely admit that I was wrong. I repudiate my former claims, I abjure my statements, and I submit to the discipline of the collective wisdom of the party. I can now state, as they have long wished me to, that It is ALL Bushs fault. All of it. (Read the rest here) [Two full pages!]

the Repeal of the Second Amendment Empower the Federal Government and
Negate the Right to Own a Firearm? Following the April shootings at Virginia Tech. University that left 32 people dead, the anti-gun zealots crawled out from under their rocks and once again showed their total ignorance concerning the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Second Amendment. Numerous articles, blogs and letters to the editor have called for the repeal of the Second Amendment. These individuals believe the federal government would either gain the power to impose severe restrictions on firearms and their owners or the right to own a firearm would vanish with the Amendment. The following is a brief examination of these claims. (Read the rest here)
The
Bill of Rights Does Not Grant You Any Constitutional Rights The real history of the world is overlaid with all manner of fabrication and obscurity. The victors and rulers write the history as much as they shape it, and we can never know the whole truth of what has gone before in many cases, but Americans are blessed with some of the clearest and best documents from those who lived our history to form and pursue what has to be recognized as a second renaissance - the declaration of individual liberty as the highest destiny of mankind, and the American Revolution that gave birth to an opportunity for all men to live free. Feminism and the DV Courts Political correctness is not, as many believe, the act of being non-offensive. It is, rather, an ideology resulting from the transformation of the Marxist concept of class oppression. Orthodox Marxism teaches that the world is made up of two economic classes, the capitalist class and the working class, and that the capitalist class oppresses the working class. The rich get richer while the poor get poorer. When the orthodox Marxist theory of class oppression was shown to be a dead end, some leftist intellectuals turned their attention from economic classes to social classes. It’s not capitalists oppressing workers, they determined, it’s dominant social groups oppressing non-dominant groups, as in whites oppressing blacks, heterosexuals oppressing homosexuals, Christians oppressing non-Christians, and men oppressing women. Of the various branches of political correctness, PC feminism has arguably been the most successful. (Read the rest here)
Noble Resolve and the Portland Presstitutes "Taking place October 15-24, 2007, the TOPOFF 4 Full-Scale Exercise (T4 FSE) will ... involve more than 15,000 participants representing Federal, State, territorial, and local entities ... The T4 FSE is based on National Planning Scenario 11 (NPS-11). The scenario begins as terrorists, who have been planning attacks in Oregon, Arizona, and the U.S. Territory of Guam, successfully bring radioactive material into the United States. The first of three coordinated attacks occurs in Guam, with the simulated detonation of a Radiological Dispersal Device (RDD), or “dirty bomb,” causing casualties and wide-spread contamination in a populous area near a power plant. Similar attacks occur in the hours that follow in Portland and Phoenix." American citizens who are aware of nuclear exercises like Noble Resolve and TOPOFF split into two opposing groups: those who take assurance from government nuke preparations and those who worry that the government may be preparing to nuke them. The worried sort have abounded in the exercise ground zero of Portland, a free-thinking city that has been no friend to Bush presidents, father or son. This week military officials and mainstream media twisted and turned to avoid straight talk about Noble Resolve -- then bent over backwards to label those who sought or offered straight talk as "conspiracy theorists." 590: Why is Congress Ignoring the Needs of Abusive Women? Mary Winkler of Selmer, Tennessee was set free last week. Winkler had admitted to gunning down her husband, the popular town preacher, in March 2006 while he was in bed asleep. As he lay dying with blood foaming from his mouth, the man of the cloth incredulously asked her, "Why?" With that, Mary packed their three daughters into the car and drove down to Alabama for a beachside vacation. If Mrs. Winkler had been convicted of intentional murder, she could have been sentenced to 60 years of hard time. But all she got was 67 days in a mental health facility. Stunned by that wrist-slap of a sentence, former New York district attorney Jeannine Pirro fumed, "Justice was definitely not served here." (Read the rest here)

The Archives "The 'crats" (demo, repub, & 'burro') will not answer these questions. Don't believe me? ASK "the 'crats" yourselves! 1. How many homeschool parents were incarcerated in 2002 by state/territory, men/women, misdemeanors/felonies for the last 10 years if possible? How many are still incarcerated? (Note: No mention of HSLDA, Constitutional Abuses Against Families By "This Government", nor, has any official implementation/ notation information been available from the Federal Agencies, the Free Press, or "The People's" representatives since passage, except how this government is making it safer.) How many incarcerated homeschool parents are included in the government's prisoner data? How many homeschool families were invaded by CPS solely on homeschool truancy child abuse charges from 1996 to present data? (Minimum Estimate: over 10,000) (Read the rest here)

Independent Institute WASHINGTONIn 1993, the government of British Prime Minister John Major launched a campaign under a motto borrowed from the world of pop musicBack to Basics. As I watch the worldwide financial crisis triggered by the wave of mortgage defaults in the United States, I am reminded that at the heart of the problem is the departure on the part of the U.S. government and American consumers from basic economic principles. Majors campaign referred to moral rather than economic issues, but the association is still relevant. Considering the consequences suffered by many ordinary people, there is something immoral about having disregarded basic economic notions for quite some time. (Read the rest here)
The
Future of Freedom Foundation We appear to live in a republic. But look closely; it's clearer every day that we live in a de facto autocracy. President Bush has managed to amass an astounding amount of power simply by scaring the American people and Congress into thinking that our continued existence as a society depends on giving him carte blanche. It's important not to be fooled by the institutional façade. Yes, the Congress still exists, and it sometimes seems to execute its constitutional responsibilities. But appearances are misleading. For example, President Bush's repeated practice of issuing "signing statements" when putting his signature on legislative bills is well known. This is the president's way of saying, "I will carry out -- or not carry out -- this law as I, and I alone, see fit." So much for the Constitution's requirement that he "shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed." (Read the rest here)

Liberty - 101
A Policy of Unrelenting Force On the day that Bush delivered his speech about the coming dawn in Iraq, 15 Americans died in combat. Another 11 were seriously wounded from a suicide bomb. On the Iraqi side, 154 Iraqi died and another 175 were wounded. The death parade marched through Baiji, Baghdad, Tikrit, Iskandariya, Hawija, Flaifel, and Tal Afar. The mayor of al-Kharba was assassinated. This was in one day! Now, to the critical question that vexes all political and social science: why? I don't mean the proximate cause. I mean the ultimate cause. If you are Bush, the answer comes as a matter of faith: these unruly people need more force. When that doesn't work, the answer is additional force. When that doesn't work, we need more force still. And so on, war without end. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. Use the back button to return.)
External Articles When it comes to our health, one would assume that the government is there to protect us through reasonable and sensible regulations. This is, however, far from the truth. The FDA in particular has been the cause of misery for those who have been unable to legally seek cures and treatment, the result of which ranges anywhere from health complications to death. Millions Hurt, Billions Wasted Imagine that you are critically ill, terminally perhaps, and a new experimental treatment has just been discovered. The doctors say that it's still very new, barely tested, but it shows early signs of promise. You have tried every mainstream treatment available. None of them have worked. In a fit of complete desperation, you decide that, since you're going to die anyway, you might as well go out swinging. You ask for the new treatment. Your doctor is aghast! Not only will he not be "party to someone preying on you," he knows the new treatment is expensive and your insurance won't cover it anyway. Even if you can pay, the answer is a resounding, "No." You're stuck. But hey, at least they're looking out for you. (Read the rest here) (Read the entire article at the source website. 2007 As I've noted before, many police departments increasingly operate under the "we'll find a reason" standard meaning that when given an opportunity officers will contrive some excuse to cite or arrest individuals who have committed no immediately recognizable offense. Cases like those of Jonas Phillips, Kevin Egler, and the Kuhns remember: three or more instances constitute a pattern suggest that police are particularly prone to display their creativity when dealing with certain forms of political protest. In his valuable new book You Have No Rights: Stories of America in an Age of Repression, Matthew Rothschild, editor of The Progressive, has compiled dozens of accounts from Americans who endured harassment, arrest, and various forms of official mistreatment after exercising their right to protest peacefully.
