2007 In the author's opinion, the flood of illegal aliens pouring across our southern borders is a classic example of this principle. The problems caused by this invasion were not some unforeseen event outside of the control of government. It has spiraled out of control because it was planned that way. For years I have been saying the final play in the illegal immigration game will be legislation requiring the American people to secure a National ID Card. The attack on the World Trade Towers in 2001 was a godsend for the disciples of George Orwell's Big Brother Society because it provided them with a convenient "excuse" to speed-up the process. In 2005, Congress, in the name of security because of the attack on 9/11, passed the Real ID Act. Under this legislation, the 50 United States will have until 2013 to reissue all drivers' licenses. Of course, the new license will have to meet standards imposed by the federal government. If a State decides to reject this attempt to create a de facto National ID Card, its citizens will be not be able to use their driver's licenses for federal identification purposes. Thus, if you were a citizen of a State that rejected the Real ID Act, you would be prohibited from boarding an airplane, entering a federal building, or opening certain types of bank accounts. To the amazement of many, States are rebelling and passing legislation refusing to implement the Real ID Act. This disobedience to the dictates of the all and powerful Oz in Washington D.C. has not gone unnoticed in the halls of Congress. Since the federal government lacks the constitutional authority to require the States to comply with the Real ID Act, the reprobates in Congress are falling back on the illegal immigration "problem" to achieve their goal. In an attempt to sell the American people on the immigration bill presently working its way through the Senate, proponents of the legislation, including President Bush, claim it is good for America because the worker verification provision will prevent illegals from getting jobs unless they comply with the new law. But what they are failing to disclose is the same requirement will be imposed on all Americans. In the draft of the legislation is a provision called the Electronic Employee Verification System (EEVS). Pursuant to section 1(a)(4)(i) of the legislation, employment, present or future, will be allowed only if your private employer complies with EEVS and meets "strict standards for identification documents that must be presented in the hiring process, including the use of secure documentation that contains a photograph, biometrics and/or complies with the requirements [of the] REAL ID Act..." Thus, in the name of the immigration reform to solve a government created problem, Congress will force compliance with the REAL ID Act because no National ID card equals no job. And the American people will submit to this unconstitutional charade because, in the infamous words of Alexander Hamilton: "A power over a man's subsistence amounts to a power over his will." Wear your chains lightly America.
Robert
Greenslade focuses his writing on issues surrounding the federal government
and the Constitution. He believes politicians at the federal level, through
ignorance or design, are systematically dismantling the Constitution in
an effort to expand their power and consolidate control over the American
people. He has dedicated himself to resurrecting the true intent of the
Constitution in the hope that the information will contribute, in some
small way, to restoring the system of limited government established by
the Constitution.
If you are interested in finding out more about the Constitution, take a look at this book. I use it in many of my articles and it is the best book I've found on this subject. Bob Reprint of the 1868 edition. ''Perhaps the ablest analysis of the nature and character of the federal government that has ever been published. It has remained unanswered.'' This review of Judge Story's Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States is perhaps the ablest analysis of the nature and character of the Federal Government that has ever been published. It has remained unanswered. Indeed, we are not aware that any attempt has been made to challenge the soundness of its reasoning. The great vise of Judge Story and the Federalists consisted in desiring the clothe the federal government with almost monarchical power, whereas the States had carefully and resolutely reserved the great mass of political power for themselves. The powers which they delegated to the federal government were few, and were general in their character. Those which they reserved embraced their original and inalienable sovereignty, which no state imagined it was surrendering when it adopted the constitution. Mr. Madison dwelt with great force upon the fact that ''a delegated is not a surrendered power.'' The states surrendered no powers to the federal government -- they only delegated them. 160 pages. |
