Wagging the Dog to World War Three
By Captain May

In his latest edition of his Neocon Weekly Standard, Bill Kristol agonized over the hesitance of the US to attack Iran.
In his nationwide race-baiting Savage Nation, host Michael Savage urged World War Two mass bombing campaigns against Middle Eastern malefactors.

Sophist-for-hire, Victor Davis Hanson, wrote nationally "So for now, let us pray that the brave pilots and ground commanders of the IDF can teach these primordial tribesmen a lesson that they will not soon forget."

All of this as the newsrooms unquestioningly promulgate Israeli promises to (humanely) "sterilize," "cleanse," "root out" and "exterminate" Hezbollah -- even if it means leveling Lebanon to do it. All of this backed up by adrenal action-movie theme music (each network with it's own) all aiming to glorify the gore of war to a dumbed-down America that doesn't understand how things have been, are now, or are going to be. The Mid-East, Short & Sweet
By L. Reichard White

Given the pro-Israel slant in our corporate media, perhaps a little context might help you figure out what's really going on in the mid-east, in what ex-speaker of the house Newt Gingrich has called "the beginning World War Three."

The IDF, Moussad, etc. regularly take hostages and kill innocent Palestinian men, women and children in their pursuit of what they call "terrorists" -- who, in cases where the Israelis get it right, are actually doing exactly what the Israeli IDF/Moussad terrorists are doing to Palestinians. The Palestinians just don't have the label "state" to hide behind.

Just for example, Israel illegally holds approximately 9,500 Arab civilian prisoners, including women and children. I say approximately because Israeli operatives sometimes "disappear" these people -- like the U.S. Government does with what's euphimistically called "extraordinary renditions." (Read the rest here)

BURN America! & All Nations!
By Ed Ward, MD

The collusion of government and corporate media have removed vital factual information from The People. The information is known. It's just been hidden, spun, classified, denounced, 'traitorized' and scammed by the governments and media.

Extinguish those torches and molotov cocktails for they are not needed, nor desired. The fire must be lit in the hearts and minds of The People. The sham, planned government events of US 9/11, UK 7/7, etc., were what galvanized The People to mistakenly accept tyranny as patriotism. Use the truth in DVD form to galvanize real patriotism against these traitors in these main areas of exposure. A "Do the Least You Can Do, Gladly;" Action Alert (Read the rest here)

Liberty: The Gold That Does Not Glitter
By The Hunter

I am one of those people who has reread "The Lord of the Rings" dozens of times. The release of the movie version was something I had dreamed about since I was around 10. I memorized Aragorn's "signature" poem quoted above nearly 30 years ago. Just a few years ago, it occurred to me that poem could easily have been written to describe what is happening to freedom in America today, and offers a prophetic view of how we might reclaim our birthright of liberty.

It is entirely possible from what I know of him that Tolkien indeed had some inner meaning relating to the struggle for freedom in mind. He was far more consciously anarchist than I realized until I started reading his letters some years after this first occurred to me. Whether he intended that meaning or not, the image is very strong. (Read the rest here)

It's the System That's Sick
By Lady Liberty

Health insurance affordability is a big deal, especially among so-called political liberals. They've made up their minds that every American should have insurance. That's far from the case today. Millions of Americans don't; millions more children remain uncovered. Although these numbers vary from month to month let alone year to year, it's fair to say that the total number of uninsured Americans at any given point in time is significant.

Most of the time, it's said that those millions of people don't have insurance because they can't afford to have insurance. In some cases, of course, that's true. But there are other reasons that people choose to forego insurance as well, and among them is the fact that they know perfectly well they'll get treatment anyway should an emergency arise. JPFO Alert: America For Sale

For years economists have been warning us that the US economy is a house of cards in a very breezy wind. This view has been reinforced by Professor Laurence Kotlifkoff, one of the key members of the Federal Reserve, in a recently published paper. Says Kotlifkoff, "the US government is, indeed, bankrupt, insofar as it will be unable to pay ...current and future generations to whom it has ... promised future net payments of various kinds."

Some localities have hit on a new method to generate revenue. Roads and bridges -- built by US taxpayers -- are being sold or leased to foreign companies. An Australian- Spanish partnership recently paid $3.8 billion to lease the Indiana Toll Road, and another Australian company bought a 99-year lease on Virginia's Pocohontas Parkway. Feminist Scheme For UN Reform
By Carey Roberts

You know things are getting desperate at the United Nations when its leaders begin to listen to feminist proposals to revitalize this talk-much, do-little, scandal-ridden bureaucracy.

Following months of deliberation, in April the UN jettisoned its Human Rights Commission in favor of its new Human Rights Council. That's a good cost-cutting move, since the new signs will only have to cover up the last 8 letters of the old name and replace them with "uncil." And perfectly fine to use up the old HRC stationery, as well.

And thank goodness the membership of the new Human Rights Council includes such upholders of individual freedoms and civil liberties as Cuba, China, and Russia. (Read the rest here)

The Israel Resolution
by Congressman Ron Paul - R - TX

Before the U.S. House of Representatives, July 20, 2006

I rise in opposition to this resolution, which I sincerely believe will do more harm than good.

I do agree with the resolution's condemnation of violence. But I am convinced that when we get involved in foreign conflicts and send strong messages, such as this resolution will, it ends up expanding the war rather than diminishing the conflict, and that ultimately comes back to haunt us. My Review Of Aaron Russo's Film, "America: Freedom To Fascism"
By Chuck Baldwin

The film begins with a critical review of two monumental events that happened in 1913: the adoption of the 16th Amendment, which has been interpreted to authorize the forced taxation of individual income and the creation of the Federal Reserve, which turned the governance of America's financial system over to a centralized private banking interest. The film intelligently and convincingly makes a strong case for the opinion that both the 16th Amendment and the Federal Reserve System are flatly unconstitutional and may not even have been legally adopted.

Russo's film then factually demonstrates how modern presidents (especially Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II) have led America out of the light of liberty and into a dark alley of fascism (hence the film's title). The film provides many examples to prove the reality of that statement. (Read the rest here)

Bush Countenances Middle East Violence
by Sheldon Richman

The administration of George W. Bush has done some contemptible things in its five and a half years, but what it's doing now in the Middle East could be a new low. Innocent civilians are dying in Lebanon and Israel, but the administration's position is that the time is not right for a ceasefire. By no coincidence, this is also Israel's position.

At a joint appearance this week with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was asked whether the U.S. should tell Israel to stop the brutal bombing of Lebanon; she replied, "We all want a cessation of violence. We all want the protection of civilians. We have to make certain that anything that we do is going to be of lasting value.... We have to deal with underlying conditions so that we can create sustainable conditions for political progress there." (Read the rest here)

What If Governments Had Not Destroyed Money?
by Thorsten Polleit

What would the world economy and financial markets look like had government controlled central banks not followed a course of relentless increases in credit and fiat money supply?

Any attempted answer to this question is sure to trigger a heated debate. In any case, however, answers would clearly depend on the alternative monetary systems that had been available at the time such decisions were taken. (Read the rest here)

America’s Bread and Circuses – Schools and Jails
by Greg Perry

The Schools Are Not Failures

Those who view government schools as failures haven’t done their homework. The government schools are highly successful. The stated and unapologetic goal of public school founders was to separate children from their parents at the taxpayer’s expense.

Those public school founders had no desire to educate children in the 3 R’s: reading, ’riting, and ’rithmetic... they wanted the children’s minds. The way to control society was to grab the kids. They succeeded. (Click here to read the rest of this article) (Click back button to return to The Price of Liberty)

NE: Anti-homo marriage law reinstated
CNN
"Supporters of banning gay marriage won two major court rulings Friday, with a federal appeals court reinstating Nebraska's voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage and the Tennessee Supreme Court ruling that voters should have a say on the issue. Last week, the highest courts in two others states also dealt gay rights advocates setbacks. The New York court rejected a bid by same-sex couples to win marriage rights, and the Georgia court reinstated a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage there." (07/16/06)

LRT Green Ribbon Campaign
The Liberty Round Table is a voluntary organization that advocates freedom for all individuals. Our green ribbon campaign, created by Dave McGraw, was inspired by the highly successful online blue ribbon campaign for freedom of speech. While that is very important, it is more important that individuals come to understand the glory and responsibility of individual freedom, and act to promote it among all peoples.
