Expert Swears He Wrote an Election Fix for Florida. During an interview with Maryland's US Senate candidate, Kevin Zeese, cofounder of VoteTrustUSA and leader of TrueVoteMD, the subject of the sad state of Maryland's election process was broached. That interview and the suppositions presented in Common Cause's report of 17 states (LA & MD included in the 17 states) being at high risk for compromised election results formed the beginning basis for this article. ...comments regarding MD from Zeese, with his years of previous election reform experience, are included. He states: "What has been interesting for me about working on election reform issues is to see voters across the political spectrum showing they care about it. It is a cross partisan issue for voters -- they want democracy to work. Sadly, on the leadership level it is inconsistent. For three years we've worked for transparent elections in Maryland with an organization we started, TrueVoteMD.org, and we have been blocked consistently by Democrat Party leaders. This year by the President of the Senate, Mike Miller, along with the Chair of the key committee, Paula Hollinger." Zeese's statement regarding politicians in office is not isolated to MD. The points made are occurring nationally and in at least 36 other DRE states. (Read the rest here)

League Media & Sins of Intermission - The Senate Democrats took a great step towards acting like senators November 2, 2005, when they used a bit of parliamentary footwork to shut down their house of Congress, and went into closed session to demand answers on the "misinformation and disinformation" that led to the war. The corporate media folks who helped to sell the war were quite alarmed as they stood outside those doors that night, wondering what new lies to tell the public -- or whether it wasn't too late to tell more lies at all. They wore "We're busted!" expressions as they waited for the awful reality of Congressional oversight to break forth from the sealed Senate chamber. Having so well kept the public in a state of ignorance, they were rightly afraid of the effect the revelation of the systematic manipulation of media would have. They realized how hard a sell it would be to say that they were King George's "embedded media," but didn't really mean to get into bed with him. Arguing that you're just a bit embedded is very much like arguing that you're just a little bit pregnant. Even the Fox news take on things boded nothing but ill for the pro-war Establishment. We
Need to Talk When people notice that the government is trampling all over their rights, they don't like it much. They protest. They make calls and write letters. Horror of horrors, they show up in their representatives' offices or speak up at public meetings and demand explanations and relief. Sometimes, they even vote en mass and craft change as a result. When people notice that the government is trampling all over their rights, they jump up and down until it stops - or at least until they're offered some kind of mitigation (all too often mere sops, but the point is still valid). Sometimes, though, the abridgement of freedom is far more subtle (actually, perhaps "insidious" would be a better word when we consider the probable end results of such subtle abridgements). Those are the times when only parts of rights are curbed or taken, and when the government has a reason for it that enough people are willing to buy that the abridgements stick. We can hold up the infringements of the Fourth Amendment in connection with the "war on terror," for example. (Read the rest here)

For The Preservation of Firearms Ownership JPFO ALERT: KT ORDNANCE UPDATE You'll recall our alert regarding the BATFE raid on KT Ordnance, manufacturer of 80% frames that -- when fully finished by you -- can be used to make AR-15 rifles. Owner Rick Celata, who had suspended sales after the raid, has informed us that his lawyer indicated he should return to production. The 60th anniversery edition of Shotgun News (July 20th issue) features a multi-page spread on KTO's products, which you can order here (and be sure to mention JPFO!). These 80% frames are definitely not UN-approved, so support a patriot and thumb your nose at the UN at the same time! JPFO ALERT: Schumerite Jews Have Blood on Their Hands ... Again On Monday, July 10, a British Jewish activist was killed by muggers in Washington DC. The muggers, armed with knives, slashed the victim's throat and attempted to rape his female companion. Just four days prior, on July 6, a man wielding cordless electric power saws attacked commuters in a New York City subway, slashing one man across the chest and terrorizing other riders. About Human Trafficking Raman was forced to work as a brick-maker to pay off a debt incurred years before by his grandfather. For years, he was paid three rupees (two cents) for a bag of bricks. If he didn't work hard enough and long enough, he was beaten with a stick. Michael, 15, was kidnapped to serve as a combatant in the Ugandan Lord's Resistance Army. During that that time, he was forced to kill another boy, and on another occasion was forced to watch as a boy was hacked to death. Over the last 10 years, globalization has triggered an unprecedented demand for unskilled and low-skilled laborers. Employers from countries with booming economies in Europe, Asia, and the Near East scour the globe in search of willing bodies to work in construction, manufacturing, agriculture, and domestic work. Federal
Reserve Policy Destroys the Value of Your Savings For years officials at the Federal Reserve Bank, including Chairman Bernanke himself, have assured us that inflation is under control and not a problem-- even as the price of housing, energy, medical care, school tuition, gold, and other commodities skyrockets. The Treasury department parrots the Fed line that consumer prices, as measured by the consumer price index (CPI), are under control. But even many mainstream economists now admit that CPI grossly understates true inflation. The most glaring problem is that CPI excludes housing prices, instead tracking rents. Everyone knows the cost of purchasing a home has increased dramatically in the last ten years; in many regions housing prices have more than doubled in just five years. So price inflation certainly is alive and well when to comes to the largest purchase most Americans make. (Read the rest here)
Government
the Exploiter, Not Protector If you begin with an incorrect premise, you are bound to arrive at bad conclusions. Nowhere is this more true than in matters of government. The debates over the "war on terror," the Iraqi occupation, and the Bush administration's casual approach to civil liberties are premised on the idea that the primary mission of the government in Washington is to protect the American people from harm. Wrong. None of the governments we are familiar with was established primarily to protect the general population. Rather, they were set up to enable a privileged class to extract wealth from the general population. They taxed the people to provide subsidies and restricted trade to create monopoly advantage. To keep a good thing going, of course, rulers afforded the people some protection, lest an outside power horn in on the action. But the objective was always to keep the goose laying the golden eggs. Rulers regularly reminded the people about the protection, while keeping the exploitation obscured. Thus the people came to regard their government as a protector, although, invariably, the thing they needed protection from most was ... their "own" government. (Read the rest here)

Liberty - 101 Classical
Liberal Roots of the Marxist Doctrine of Classes Few ideas are as closely associated with Marxism as the concepts of class and class conflict. It is, for instance, impossible to imagine what a Marxist philosophy of history or a Marxist revolutionary theory would be in their absence. Yet, as with much else in Marxism, these concepts remain ambiguous and contradictory.[1] For instance, while Marxist doctrine supposedly grounds classes in the process of production, The Communist Manifesto asserts in its famous opening lines:
Michael Rozeff has identified two kinds of losses attributable to life in less than free societies: those due to physical violence, which he terms p-losses, and those due to beliefs that work against peoples best interests, or b-losses ("Silver and Golden Rule Societies," May 8, 2006). While recognizing that libertarian theory tends to ignore b-losses, due to their subjective and nebulous nature, Prof. Rozeff nonetheless views them as an appropriate subject for libertarian analysis. B-losses seem to undermine human freedom and happiness. A confirmed libertarian, I reminded my friends that only those who accepted the Popes reasoning or recognized the authority of his office would defer to his teachings. No Swiss Guard was pointing a gun at anybodys head. No fines or prison sentences or dynamic entries of nulliparous couples homes were in the offing. There would be no campaign of humanitarian bombing to uplift and Christianize the recalcitrant. The Pope would have to rely on his powers of moral suasion and the presumed authority of his office alone. If only our enlightened democracy dealt with its criminal element you know, the price gougers, tax evaders, gun owners, pot smokers, prostitutes, deserters, 19-year-old beer drinkers and two-bit foreign dictators that way!
