13, 2006 I really like your The Price of Libertys Web Blog and I was wondering if you would please add a Web Link to my Libertarian Slanted--political satire, in the form of a political party test, on your The Price of Libertys Web Page and/or mention my test in your Web Blog. Test Name: THE SATIRICAL POLITICAL BELIEFS ASSESSMENT TEST: A Humorous Political Party Quiz to Test If You're an Archconservative, Leftwing Wacko, Antigovernment Libertine or a Commie Sympathizer Test. My political philosophy has been libertarian since my college days in the late seventies. After I graduated, I worked full time as a computer programmer but still found time to write and get published several opinion political satire opinion pieces in the Orange County Register newspaper. After these publishing successes, I decided to tackle a book and want to really wanted to write was a test that would teach people about Libertarianism in a humorous way and at the same time convince the reader that they were more libertarian than they realized! I think if you read my test youll discover I think I accomplished both goals!!! Thanks, I hope you get a kick out of it!!! Don Hagen dsthagen@verizon.net P.S Please, forward this email to anyone else you think might be interested!!! Don Hagen Your site has been added to our "Friends of Liberty" page. Thanks for writing! MamaLiberty The Mailbag by MamaLiberty In response to the response by 'Tony' to Mike Gaddy's 5/14/04 article ' How The Hell Did These People Get In Our Army? ', and the subsequent response to 'Tony' by Mama "You should have thought about all that before you joined. Just what did you think would happen?..." For what it is worth, I believe 'Tony' was thinking that the advertisements he had seen and the stories from recruiters he had talked with were not flat-out, bold-faced lies (which they are). Mama, have you paid any attention to what the recruiters, and the US military branches in general, are promising our kids? Have you noticed that they are stationed, like some sort of security force, in all of the malls? And that they are constantly inundating our children with their lies in the public 'schools' and universities? That they are promising that joining the military will be the most fulfilling, beneficial and character-building thing they can possibly do with their lives? Have you noticed that most of our youth today have NOT been trained at all in how to think for themselves, how to cut through the BS that is handed to them by those members of our society who are supposed to be authority figures, or how to tell the truth from lies? And have you noticed that decent jobs and medical benefits in this country are becoming fewer and fewer as 'we; pass laws that drive businesses out of our country, guarantee huge windfall profits to certain 'pet' corporations (like pharmaceutical companies and healthcare organizations) at the expense of the working class, and completely reverse the 'favorable balance of trade' our nation enjoyed for so long? I think 'Tony' is simply a gullible individual who may have viewed joining the military as his only hope of improving his life, due mostly to the lies he has been subjected to since birth that the US military is a solid & respectable career path. And, in any other profession he may have chosen to follow, he would have some limited recourse if his employer had blatantly and continually lied to him about what he would receive as compensation for his employment, and what his working conditions would be. But not in the US military - no way! Once you sign on the dotted line, you become a possession of the US government! And the US government is exempt from liability or responsibility for their crimes. MJA All of that is very true, but none of it is an excuse to repudiate an oath, a serious commitment. I grew up a Marine "brat" and I know how serious all of it is. This guy was so shallow that he figured he should be able to quit simply because he was bored with it and didn't "like" it anymore! I have no sympathy for him at all. I don't believe there should be any kind of standing army, now or ever. But that doesn't change the facts or give anyone license to make promises they don't have the guts or the integrity to keep. We need to work on getting rid of the lies, teaching our children integrity and real life skills and all the rest, not give creeps like this a "get out of the army free" pass because they don't "like" it. MamaLiberty In response to Mama's response to 'M.C.D.' responding to 'A Time For Action - Let's Abolish The Dangerous "Patriot Act" ' by Ted Lang: Mama writes: "As long as they get some of the goodies and/or can feel "holier than thou," they don't mind being slaves." This brings to mind the words of a man who was much smarter and more intuitive than I will ever be. He also, reportedly, brewed a mean ale: If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countryman. Samuel Adams- MJA When the people of this country start to understand what that means and begin to value their liberty more than the goodies from government theft, we might have a chance to live in peace. Otherwise, death awaits a great many of us. MamaLiberty What's
Wrong With The Pledge of Allegiance I vote number 4 because 1) as stated the government is subordinate to the people and 2) I am not subordinate to anyone but my God - no ungodly pledging or allegiance for me. Ed Ward My position as well. I don't "pledge allegiance" to any flag and want nothing to do with government in general EXCEPT my personal relationship to God, the only right governor for me. Commentary on the News RFID zapper - while useful is still unnecessary. Take it from an engineer, all it takes is 10 sec. in a microwave and there is no more chip. 5, really, but you want to be thorough. - Jason Most of us don't carry a microwave in our pocket and we might like to fry these little buggers where we get them instead of dragging them home. There are also many things that can't be put into a microwave. The RFID things might also be hard to find, so something that can effectively "spray" an item with the disruptive signal would be very helpful. Just think about a new car. Where is this RFID in a new car? I suspect there are any number of small devices that would create the required effect without damage to the item being "sprayed." Whatever is developed to fry the RFID things will have to be so simple that anyone can produce it on their own, and dispose of it easily when necessary as well. Not having much understanding of the science involved, I don't have a clue how that could be done, but I'm sure there is a way. We will have the incentive to find it. A psychic method would be ideal, of course, since no physical device would be necessary. The whole thing will, however, be an enforcement nightmare for our oppressors, and the worse we can make it for them, the better. We need to fry every and all of the RFID things we can possibly find so the whole setup is useless to them. It must be done, therefore it can be done. We shall see what happens. MamaLiberty The
