January 02, 2006

Dear Readers,
Welcome to the first issue for 2006. Most of our writers seem to have taken a long holiday. New articles will be posted throughout the week as they become available.

We face increasing danger and the threat of economic collapse in the new year. It is long past time for all of us to start working together so we can survive and be ready to build anew on the ashes that will be left when the socialist and totalitarian governments of the world finally destroy themselves. Let us resolve never again to be tempted by politicians, governments and their empty promises. MamaLiberty

2006 Predictions and Realities
By SARTRE

Since 2006 is an election year, it can be safely predicted that the mainstream news will have a focus on covering meaningless political races. The press will preach how important all these faceless campaigns will be, but in the end, very little ever changes. What makes this Congressional season different from other cycles is that the undercurrent will be who will emerge to succeed George W. Bush. In fact the game that will be covered has the hidden agenda of priming the pump for the next emperor to be crowned in 2008. This is the sad state of affairs of United States national elections. The politics of substance will be concealed for the appearance of a democratic changing of the guard. Make no mistake about it the same sentinel for the status quo of establishment socialism is the eventual outcome.

Savvy observers of many party rotations appreciate that the relevant component in domestic elections centers upon the “ins and the outs” of who holds political office. Democrats are encouraged that their day has arrived, and that their turn will begin with a shift in 2006. Republicans sense discontent for the ruling party and are concerned that the Bush regime has created severe cracks in the GOP mandate. Midterm elections are seen as a gauge for national sentiment. Well, this assessment is the conventional viewpoint. The reality is that the results of any of these choreographed charades always produce a loser. Namely, the American public suffers once again from the false promises of cooked up candidates spreading the same old cuisine that robs and steals much more than pocket book change. Their policies destroy the very essence of the national spirit.

Libertarian Commentary on the News, Week of 25-30 December MMV (2005)
Last week of the year MMV, and on to MMVI! Nasty things happening out there: freedom is still within our grasp, however. Sadly, that is NOT the case in much of the world. On a scale of 0 to 10 (tyranny incarnate to a truly libertarian (anarcho-conservative) society, the best anyone can do (Switzerland, maybe) is about 3.9 or 4 - the US is maybe a 3, the UK just dropped to about 2, and much of the world is at 1.0 or 1.1, while a few sad-sack nations are at 0.002 or so: North Korea, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.

The Fall of Europe
We start with five stories from our neighbors and cousins to the east, the first one of which is probably the most important - and a warning to Americans. MMV has not been a good year for Europe in general and for the UK in particular, as these stories remind us. And don't expect it to get better in the new year with all this to face.

UK: Now you can be arrested for any offence
Telegraph [UK]
"Police are to be given sweeping powers to arrest people for every offence, including dropping litter, failure to wear a seat belt and other minor misdemeanours. The measures, which come into force on Jan 1, are the biggest expansion in decades of police powers to deprive people of their liberty. At present, officers can generally arrest people if they suspect them of committing an offence which carries at least five years in prison. They will now have the discretion to detain someone if they suspect any offence and think that an arrest is "necessary". The civil liberties organisation Liberty said the change represented "a fundamental shift" in power from the public to the police and the state and was open to misuse." (12/29/05)

With the population basically disarmed, with hooligans running wild (and for that matter, often running the country), and with the Lords and the Monarch completely stripped of power, there is nothing that Her Majesty's subjects can do about this except endure it and pray that someone - Ireland, the US, Belize, SOMEONE will come and rescue them. Sadly, because of the hooligans and thugs and Islamicists running around, far too many people are very much IN FAVOUR of this police state. Furthermore, it is NOT a "major" change, but (like the proverbial frog, it represents a change from a heat level of 5 to one of perhaps 6 or maybe 7. (Read the rest here) (Two full pages!)
