Rape Hysteria, Redux
By Carey Roberts

Can you imagine the German Bundestag issuing a formal apology for the Nazi atrocities, but then leaving out the fact that Jews were the primary victims?

Earlier this summer the U.S. Senate apologized for its earlier failures to approve anti-lynching legislation. The resolution was supported by liberal senators such as Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Joe Biden of Delaware, and others.

The apology notes, "at least 4,742 people, predominantly African-Americans, were reported lynched in the United States between 1882 and 1968."

The resolution is well-intentioned, but it air-brushes out one essential fact: Virtually all of the victims were male, many of whom were accused of ravishing well-to-do white women. (Read the rest here)

This was written in 1999, but it speaks volumes for the present. Who knows how far along the plans are to implement this abomination? We certainly have no reason to be confident that our government will reject this insanity. The question remains: what are we going to do about it? Is the grand experiment of liberty and justice for all about to die for the foreseeable future? Will it take another Concord and another Boston Tea Party to kindle freedom again sometime in the future? Read it and weep for what we are about to lose. MamaLiberty

The Charter for Global Democracy
By Henry Lamb

In less than a year, the United Nations will convene a special Millennium Assembly as a global summit on the future of the world. This event will crown a decade of preparation to launch the new millennium on a new system of global governance. The blueprint was published by the Commission on Global Governance in 1995. Now, a Charter to achieve global governance has been developed for presentation at the Millennium Assembly next September. It will be published publicly on UN day, October 24th. (Read the rest here)

I've not touched on "Character for Libertarians" for a long time, but today I want you to considered "prepared": A lover of liberty is PREPARED for whatever may happen. As with the Boy Scouts, our motto should be a simple one: "Be Prepared." You never know when some thug will come along. But not many non-government thugs today, as we shall see in the news.

Colorado: Gun use spans generations and puts a spin on life
Durango Herald
Durango's fondness for guns today is a legacy of that Wild West. Guns are inextricably bound to La Plata County's culture, past as well as present. Today, you'll find at least one gun in about 75 percent of all homes in the county, Sheriff Duke Schirard says. Schirard handily won office in 1994 in an election decided partly over concealed weapons. Shortly after he took over, the sheriff issued the highest percentage of concealed-weapons permits in the state. Now, he tallies 675 permits countywide.

Well, one good article today: and a surprise, given the general liberalism of the Herald's publisher and Durango in today's PC age. More stories like this, presenting gun owners and users as good, everyday, and active citizens are needed (this was accompanied by a picture of 3 generations of women all with drawn pistols!).
