The time: right about now. The location: these days, just about any place in the United States. The characters: an accountant, a Chevy Cavalier, a poodle, and several police dressed completely in black, just like ninjas in a cheap kung fu film. Wannabe Ninjas: BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! Accountant (getting out of car): What the heck is this? (He looks down and counts all the holes in him.) You idiots just shot me 54 times! I'm not going to survive this, you know! Up! Connect The Dots In the past week, there have been several articles posing the question of why the democrats are silent about the appointment of Christopher Cox, present Chairman of the Homeland Security Commission, to take up duties as head of the watchdog Security & Exchange Commission. A position that would put Mr. Cox in charge of protecting Americans from the sort of corporate scams, frauds, and insider dealing that brought us the Enron scandal. Representative Cox is from Newport Beach in Orange County between Los Angeles and San Diego (the city some are referring to as Enron by the Sea) and is the man who wrote and is largely responsible for bringing us the 1995 Private Securities Litigation Reform Act that made it harder for people to take corporate swindlers to court. We start our weekend news with some GOOD news! Not only is it a bit cooler, nationwide, but we have a lot more ice than we thought. And the chances of being able to talk privately are getting better. On to the news! General News Ice
Photographed on Mars A location for Libertyville? That crater provides room for a pretty decently sized city, and the potential for a dome over the crater which would make it definitely habitable. Even better, it might connect to one of the "vast underground seas" of water that ESA had found earlier. This increases the likelihood that people will go to Mars, and that settlement is a definite possibility. For comparison, that lake is about 7 miles across, or about 1/3 the size of Lake Tahoe.
