Snuggles the Wonder Dog
by Bob Wallace

President: Where is that darn dog? I need his analysis of the intelligence we've gathered!

Vice-President: I'm not sure you should trust the fate of the free world to a 12-pound dog!

President: Well, he is a genius, you know. He has the IQ of William James Sidis! That's what he told me! And he did drive my daughters home one night when they were so tipsy they got into the back seat and wondered why they couldn't find the steering wheel. (Chuckes.) That reminds me of what I used to do when I was their age. . .

Private Pensions and the Government
By Jeff Adams

This week, a federal judge approved a plan by United Airlines to drop its employee pension plans. It will be the largest corporate pension default in American history. United, which is struggling to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy, has just dumped a huge weight off its shoulders (an estimated $645 million a year), but United employees will lose thousands of dollars annually that were part of their employment agreement when the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) (a government pension insurer) takes over their pensions.

The PBGC originally opposed United's plan, but agreed to it once United promised to give the government organization $1.5 billion in notes and convertible stock in a reorganized UAL Corporation, United's parent company. What this means is the federal government is going to be a partner in private industry. Somehow I don't think that's a role the federal government is supposed to be playing under our constitution. Iraq: At least 71 killed in latest round of attacks
ITV [UK]

"Four suicide bombings have killed at least 71 people across Iraq as violence in the country continues to escalate. In addition, a mortar hit the Iraqi Oil Ministry complex in Baghdad, although a senior oil ministry official said there were no casualties." (05/12/05)

Something like this leads the news every single day. How many more of our sons, daughters, husbands and wives must die before the people of this country begin to understand what is really going on here? How many must die before we take back responsibility and control of our government to stop the murder and destruction all over the world? Do we really want to wait until our country is dead broke and destroyed around us as well? (Read the rest here)
