May 04, 2005 I didn't start out this cynical I had to fight and claw my way to achieve my current level of distrust of anything organized. And that includes government, its subservient stooges in the press, political parties, the Church, and most business organizations. The reason for my painfully-acquired lack of respect for anything organized? In a word, "lies!" lies, more lies, and still more lies! I offer as my ultimate example the current herd of liars and warmongering propagandists in the Bush administration! And it didn't help matters either being a former, staunch supporter of the Republican Party and its candidates. Around the time when I opened up a restaurant about ten years ago, one of my employees turned me on to a guy named Rush Limbaugh. What a find! The guy was on the money, told it like it was and how it ought to be, and was able to deliver his message with clarity and humor. I read his two books. I watched his cable TV show. And when I was home during the week, and not at work, I tuned in to his radio show on ABC broadcasting from New York City. I even subscribed to the Limbaugh Letter for a few of years. Chamber Goes National Thursday evening, April 28th, President Bush took his 60 cities in 60 days road show before the entire American television audience. Descendants of the Buffalo Bill Cody Wild West Show should have been overflowing with admiration. A compliant, docile, but attentive group of selected reporters in the room, finally given the opportunity to ask questions before a prime time audience, managed to avoid almost entirely the two subjects Potus came forward to talk about. It was almost as though the two vital priorities for tonight had been a surprise to them so they took the opportunity to ask about other things ranging from filibusters to faith based initiatives and Iraqtile dysfunction. Administration Bluster Exacerbates Nuclear Proliferation As North Korea tests a short-range missile and Iran threatens to resume its enrichment of nuclear fuel, President Bush and his administration continue their counterproductive bluster against these two nations. The United States is preparing to echo its hard-line rhetoric as 180 countries meet this month for the periodic review of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). Yet only fantasy generals on the big screen use macho bombast against their fictional foes. The best real-life commanders try to walk quietly in the enemys moccasins to best predict their next move. The Bush administration spends so much time strutting and flexing before the world gallery that it fails to realize that such behavior accelerates nuclear proliferation. (Read the rest here)

Six dead in Baghdad bombing "A car bomb exploded in an upscale shopping district of Baghdad on Monday, killing at least six Iraqis and setting fire to an apartment building, in a surge of violence that has left at least 140 people dead since a new government was formed last week. Striking back at the insurgency, U.S. and Iraqi forces have captured 84 suspects in the Baghdad area since Sunday, the U.S. military said. An additional 52 suspects were captured Monday in a joint operation in the Diyarah area, south of the capital." (05/02/05) The death and destruction just keeps going on and on and on... the Energizer bunny from hell. (Read the rest of the commentary here)
