April 29, 2005 You've got to read this book! I read this one through twice in about three weeks. Outside of Heinlein and Asimov, that's something I don't indulge in. So much to read -- so little time. But I reread this one with pleasure. Not because the story was too complex, or the plot hard to follow the first time - far from it. I read it again because it is GOOD and because it stirred my tired old blood to hope, renewing my old dream of actually finding liberty in my lifetime. (Read the rest here)
Minutemen
are Proof Citizens can take back Their Country The Minuteman Project in Arizona has gotten a lot of attention in the time it has been functioning in April. President Bush has made himself look stupid by calling dedicated citizens vigilantes. Congress has made itself look incompetent and impotent by not addressing the concerns of the people that elected them, while unelected, patriotic citizens take care of defending our security and sovereignty (without the six-figure salary elected officials in D.C. get). The socialist mainstream media hates this group of American heroes. The Mexican government wants everyone who is taking part in defending our borders through the Minuteman Project locked up. Id call the Minuteman Project a resounding success. (Read the rest here)
Would
the Montana Firearms Freedom Act Stop Federal Usurpation of Power
under the Commerce Clause? Earlier this year, State Representative Roger Koopman introduced legislation in the Montana House entitled the "Montana Firearms Freedom Act." The bill was inspired by the federal government's use of the Commerce Clause to regulate firearms. Under the Constitution, as written by the Founders, the federal government was not granted the general power to regulate the private ownership of firearms irrespective of the Second Amendment. To get around this little inconvenience, the federal government had their political appointees in black robes judicially expand federal power by re-writing the Commerce Clause from the bench. Koopman's legislation would exempt firearms made in Montana from federal regulation through the Commerce Clause as long as the firearms remain inside the State. Supporters of the legislation claim it would inspire a homegrown industry of gun-makers and send a message reaffirming states' rights. While the author applauds Representative Koopman and those assisting him in this effort, it appears, from a reading of the proposed legislation, that they do not fully understand the scope of federal government's "judicially created" power under the Commerce Clause.
