Time For Action For those who are totally comfortable letting others do battle for them, now's an excellent time to get uncomfortable, very uncomfortable! You need to write a letter! You need to contact your Congressman or woman and let them know that it's time not only to debate the expiring sections of the USA PATRIOT Act, but to abolish all of it! And don't contact them via e-mail – they don't read e-mails! Nothing sets me off more than obnoxious, chip-on-their-shoulder "experts," pundits, blab radio flapping jaws and cradle-to-grave Republicans, the latter until only recently representing my own political shortsightedness, who constantly offer: Have you lost any freedoms yet as a result of the PATRIOT Act? And Amnesty International Collude In Gender Propaganda Piece In a brazen attempt to skew public opinion and exploit the fears of women, the New York Times recently ran an article on intimate partner violence. Cleverly titled "Sweden Boldly Exposes a Secret Side of Women's Lives," the essay suggests patriarchal beatings have become as commonplace in Sweden as driving a Volvo station wagon. Of course, research paints a completely different picture -- that women around the world are equally likely as men to engage in partner aggression, and that men represent 38% of all persons who suffer an injury as a result of the incident. But that didn't stop NYT reporter Lizette Alvarez from quoting Swedish politician Gudrun Schyman's description of domestic abusers: "It's every man and in every class of society." new chief takes on tough decision Paperwork! How typical of bureaucracy! The best thing for both the space program and for this country would be to close down NASA immediately and leave free enterprise alone to do whatever it wants instead.
