February 24, 2005 The
John Ford Issue in TN "The law perverted! And the police powers of the state perverted along with it! The law, I say, not only turned from its proper purpose but made to follow an entirely contrary purpose! The law become the weapon of every kind of greed! Instead of checking crime, the law itself guilty of the evils it is supposed to punish!" The Law, 1850. This entire story of Sen. John Ford is the perfect illustration of how perverted things become when the LAW is not followed, obeyed, enforced. This applies whether it is man's law or God's law. When we allow DISOBEDIENCE to rule over us no one is safe except the biggest bully on the block, until a bigger bully steps in. I have talked to several people about this situation with John Ford and how so many in The South are fearful of going after this man's open flouting of the law - because he is Black and too many are in fear of being called racist for going after him for obvious violations of the law. WHY does this matter? Is a Black Law Breaker better than a White Law breaker or a Brown one? How does color enter in here? (Read the rest here)
The
Pink Pussy-Cat Bares Her Fangs Following their November 2 electoral melt-down, the Sisterhood and the rest of the radical Left lapsed into bitterness and despair. Sensing that Middle America is turning a cold shoulder on their socialist agenda, the rad-fems have now unleashed a last-ditch campaign of intimidation, accusations, and threats. On January 9, former Indiana representative Tim Roemer announced he was running for the top post of the Democratic National Committee. Many believed Roemer was exactly the boost the wilting Democratic Party needed - someone with a moderate ideology, fresh ideas, and Midwestern roots. But there was a slight problem: Mr. Roemer is a Catholic, and his resume' revealed a pro-life voting record. (Read the rest here)
The Mind
of the Political Terrorist I don't read very much hard-boiled detective fiction, but I have read enough to know that the genre is a type of horror fiction, and like all horror, is based on goodness and order being attacked by evil and chaos. A fine example of this is John D. MacDonald's 1979 novel, The Green Ripper, a book I read only because Stephen King praised it. A horror writer praising a detective novel about MacDonald's famous anti-hero, Travis McGee? It made me curious. It turns out King was right in his assessment. Like all very good writers, MacDonald has a great understanding of human nature, which sometimes is not such a great thing. In the case of The Green Ripper the human nature that McDonald writes about is the mind of the political terrorist. If you want to understand that mind, this is the novel to read. Libertarian
Commentary on The News As we slide down to the end of February, and (in some places) signs of Spring are sneaking up, we need to remember another vital character trait for lovers of liberty - Faith! Yes, faith - confidence that the cause of human freedom will finally win out, faith and trust in fellow lovers of liberty, and a daily conscious choice in all things based on freedom and liberty for all. Sure, some people won't agree with you, but I have faith that we will win. (And in case you don't agree with me, please note - these are my views, not necessarily those of TPoL, RRND, FND, or anyone else!) BTW - this is my day for long extracts from articles - sometimes I just can't figure out how to abbreviate an article as much as I like. Please bear with me! Man
