February 03, 2005 For those of you who think the Iraqi Election on January 30, 2005 was a turning point in the Iraq War, it wasn't. We tried the same thing during the Vietnam War. Check this out: "United States officials were surprised and heartened today at the size of turnout in South Vietnam's presidential election despite a Vietcong terrorist campaign to disrupt the voting. According to reports from Saigon, 83 percent of the 5.85 million registered voters cast their ballots yesterday. Many of them risked reprisals threatened by the Vietcong. A successful election has long been seen as the keystone in President Johnson's policy of encouraging the growth of constitutional processes in South Vietnam." -

by Vietnam Vote,' September 4, 1967. Libertarian
Commentary on The News Well, the groundhog saw his shadow, which means six more weeks of winter, by tradition; and the insurgent thugs of the Middle East have seen their shadow, which probably means another six centuries of war. Well, that is some peoples opinion - this column is my opinion, and not necessarily anyone elses. So there - you are warned. The news comes courtesy of Rational Review News Digest and Freedom News Daily - two excellent web-pubs, and a few items of news I find myself and that other people point me towards. I try (but dont promise) to touch on items that have some bearing on the fight for freedom and the love of liberty. General
