Dear Readers - Please Note:
The next issue of The Price of Liberty will go up for Tuesday, December 21, '04.

The editor (me) will be on vacation for two days, so the Monday issue will not be published. Since Nathan is so kind to send me his Commentary early, it is being put up Saturday evening for your enjoyment. Thank you so much for visiting TPoL, and I hope you will come back often.

The Archives are packed with thousands of articles and features. Please let me know if you find any broken or bad links. As TPoL grows, it becomes more and more difficult to make sure each link is working and each item is properly uploaded. I appreciate any help you can give me to find and fix problems so everyone can enjoy any or all of the fine articles and features we have.

The Price of Liberty is published with new articles each weekday, and we invite you to submit your own articles any time. Comments on individual articles can be made in the form at the bottom of each page. The reader's forum is open for discussion of the articles or pretty much anything else.

We do not solicit donations and have no way to accept them at this time. We don't have "tax exempt" status and don't want it, so the best thing is not to have any income for them to hassle us about. Our operating costs are small now, so we would much rather keep it that way. If we grow to the point that becomes a problem, of course, we'll have to take another look at it, but for now the best contribution you can make is to tell others about this site and help us keep it straight and strong by your comments and participation.

Rumsfeld gets beat on by GOP congress-critturs
Trent Lott and other Republican congressmen have recently been critical of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, following last week’s press flap about lack of armor for troops in Iraq. Although not calling for his resignation, Lott and others have said that change is necessary at the Department of Defense.

Rumsfeld supporters are criticizing GOP leaders for playing into Democratic hands in this reversal of roles. I wonder if the White House doesn’t have its fingers in the pie, somehow, although this seems to be a particularly juicy piece of cannibalism. Perhaps Mr. Rumsfeld needs a nice suit of anti-Congress armor himself (actually, couldn’t we ALL use one of those?). (Read the rest here)
