December 13, 2004 A six-year-old schoolgirl was recently Tazered by police, then cuffed, taken to the police station, and placed in a cell for playing 'scissors, paper, rock' at school. "We have a zero-tolerance policy for violent acts," said the principal, Richard "Dick" Less. "We found her playing 'scissors, paper, rock' and immediately called the police. They stormed the school with a SWAT team, asked her what she was doing, and when she made a fist, then scissors, they Tazered her. We can't tolerate this kind of behavior among children. It leads to a lifetime of violence and drug addiction." "She was putting my officers' life in danger," said Police Chief Richard Cranium. "She threatened them with her fist, then used her index and middle finger to make scissors. She could have killed one of the officers, or all of them. We can't be too careful, even with a first-grader. Generally, we just kill people who do stuff like this, but we gave her a break because she was six years old." (Read the rest here) Lou
Dobbs Interviews A Crook I hope you are all paying attention to the unmitigated gall of the Beltway Bandits who are talking about trillions of dollars necessary for their sort of Social Security reform. All they are really saying is that they want to borrow trillions to make up for the money they may not be able to steal anymore. After already stealing $1.6 trillion of our retirement insurance money since 1983, leaving us with phony trust funds that require taxpayers to replace what is now more than 22 percent of the national debt, these crooks are now trying to convince us that if anything is done with the payroll tax surplus premiums weve been handing them theyll have to make up for it by borrowing more than they are already borrowing from investors, mostly foreign countries like China and Japan, running up the national debt even further. Ronald Dumbsfeld - The Pentagon's Beloved Dummy Its beginning to look a lot like our Secretary of Offense and Department of Warmongering, Sir Ronald Dumbsfeld, or Dummy, as his colleagues and some in the media affectionately call him, has once again taken the time to graciously bring US up to speed on the war effort. He has also demonstrated more compassionate conservatism by visiting the front [Kuwait?] and being with the troops to wish them Happy Holidays! While portraying himself as one of the troops, they began asking him some sticky questions, requiring some political soft shoe maneuvers demonstrating his skill in responding crisply with assertiveness and delivering well thought-out responses. It was only a few days ago, on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, that other great federal fraud where thousands of our own were sacrificed in order to inspire mass hatred in the minds of the general public, that Dummy observed that it may take yet another four years to pull our troops out of Iraq. Hmmmm. How many more years is the Bush regime supposed to last? (Read the rest here) How
Teddy Roosevelt Fathered the Bush Doctrine December 6, 2004, marked the centennial of one of the landmark statements in U.S. foreign policy: Theodore Roosevelts so-called Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine. It was here, and not in the post-9/11 speeches of George W. Bush, that we first heard the rationalization for a pre-emptive imperialism coming from the White House. The preamble to U.S. imperialism, however, was delivered in 1821 by John Quincy Adams, two years before he formulated the Monroe Doctrine. America goes not abroad in search of monsters to destroy, said Adams, who anticipated that Cuba would soon fall like a ripe apple into the American basket. The Doctrine, albeit with the support of the British fleet, was a bold statement to Europe to forget about further colonization or political maneuvering in the Americas, and indicated this nations intention to stay out of European affairs. Commentary on The News Bill of Rights Day is rapidly approaching - a holiday to be celebrated as joyfully as Christmas ten days later, or as the 4th (or 2nd) of July - so dont forget! Letters to the editor reminding people how important the Bill of Rights is to Americans and the world are a great way to celebrate, or at least thats my opinion, like the rest of this column, not necessarily anyone elses. Today, Im looking at propaganda, and the way the media (not just the mainstream) can twist and, on occasion, outright fabricate the news for the purpose of pushing a viewpoint. 5,500
