Triple Indemnity - Who Dies And Pays?
By Ted Lang © 2004

An insurance company death benefit that pays twice the face value of the policy upon the accidental demise of the insured is termed “double indemnity.” You can be sure that when such a death benefit is paid, especially when the payout is substantial, the underwriting company will assign an investigator to protect the company from the possibility of a fraudulent claim. Imagine the investigative curiosity generated by a substantial claim of “triple indemnity,” assuming there is such coverage available.

In spite of the scarcity of such outstanding protection regarding its possibility in the private sector, cases of triple indemnity in the public sector are significantly on the rise. Yet very few of these cases generate any curiosity at all, let alone any real investigation. And that’s just fine with the perpetrators and errant individuals who cause the many incidents of so-called “accidental death.” The deliberate act and guilt of the perpetrator is easily proven, yet those identified as to their recklessness, irresponsibility, or even criminal behavior, are seemingly always immune as to accountability. They benefit enormously from triple indemnity protection. (Read the rest here)

The Peterson Trial Goes Bonkers
By Carl F. Worden

High profile criminal trials, like the Scott Peterson double murder case, seem to attract some real screwballs into the jury pool. These are people who live relatively normal, low profile lives, and they see being empanelled as a juror on this kind of case as an opportunity to make a few bucks and bask in their 15-minutes of fame. They will lie and say anything they can to get on the jury, and it most definitely does not bode well for justice to prevail.

Just remember the O.J. Simpson trial. Not only did the jury find Simpson not guilty in the face of a mountain of evidence to the contrary, but they gave paid interviews afterward, got paid for writing about their experiences, and one of the female jurors later posed nude for Playboy Magazine! You surely know she didn’t do it for free. (Read the rest here)

ACTION NEEDED!
Tell Congress To "Just Say No!"
To Universal Psychiatric Screening And Drugging Children

Action now needed immediately in HOUSE OF REPRESENATIVES in addition to Senate.

AAPS member of Congress makes another bid to stop mandatory psychiatric screening.

Urge your Representative to sign letter by FRIDAY Nov. 12.

Last September, AAPS lifetime member, Congressman Ron Paul, M.D. (R-TX) tried to stop this insidious plan by offering an amendment to the Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations Act for FY 2005. The amendment received 95 "yes" votes, but it failed to pass. So the House version of the bill passed.

However, Congressman Paul and several of his colleagues are not giving up.

Libertarian Commentary on The Day's News
By Nathan A. Barton © 2004

Veterans’ Day - do you know where your freedom is? In my opinion (not necessarily anyone elses’), veterans can and should be an important part of our continuing effort to protect and regain the God-given liberty: the embodiment of those whose blood waters the tree of liberty. But their actions (past and present) can so easily be turned to evil, if there is not enough vigilance on the part of those who gained or kept their freedom because of the sacrifices of those veterans who are with us, or have passed on. Worst of all are those who twist the concepts of liberty and freedom into nothing but a shell hiding the worst of tyranny and aggression. As we shall see some examples of, in this commentary.

Yasser Arafat, 1929-2004
MSNBC
"Yasser Arafat, who triumphantly forced his people's plight into the world spotlight but failed to achieve his lifelong quest for Palestinian statehood, died Thursday at age 75, Palestinian Cabinet minister Saeb Erekat told The Associated Press." (11/10/04)

With the man who was the source of so much evil in the Middle East now gone, will things improve? I certainly hope and pray that is the case - but fear his legacy of hatred and greed and powermongering will live on. He is a reminder that it is not ONLY governments that can create such messes. He deserves to be remembered, along with the many other tyrants of the Twentieth Century.
