Earlier this month, bug eyed comedic legend Rodney Dangerfield checked out of this existence. Dangerfield was best known for his one liners and, most of all, his signature line, I get no respect. As November nears, voters are probably beginning to feel a certain lack of respect from politicians. As they watch candidates on debates evade the issues, political ads that twist and omit the truth, in addition to listening to speeches long on rhetoric yet short on substance, many voters can't help but sense that theyre not being respected in the least, by both incumbents and their "major" challengers. In real life, respect is something that is earned. (Read the rest here)
In Kobe Case,
Accuser Is Rightly Identified Last Friday, the judge who presided over Kobe Bryant's "rape" case announced that more sealed documents will soon be released. With new facts emerging from the now-dismissed criminal case and a related civil court case pending, the debate surrounding Bryant continues. The manner in which society, the media and perhaps the law approach "victims" is being gradually redefined. One
of the most controversial questions raised is whether Bryant's accuser
should be publicly named. During the criminal proceeding, the accuser's
name and most of her history received the nominal protection of Colorado's
Rape Shield Law. A media taboo against identifying "victims" of sexual
assault ensured anonymity in the mainstream press.

But Zionism, which includes a contingent of about 20 million Christian fundamentalists, encompasses neither all Jews nor all Christians. Many of the Jewish faith, both in America and Israel, oppose Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and vehemently disagree with his apartheid and genocidal policies. But Bush and his PNAC neoconservative warmongers support Israels policy of mass murder and racist relocation and apartheid, and all our military and foreign aid efforts in the Middle East are based strictly upon this madness. Field
of (Bad) Dreams Washington, D.C., will soon begin construction of a new taxpayer-funded baseball stadium at an estimated cost of $400 million, give or take $50 million. Thirty-three years after the Washington Senators left town to become the Texas Rangers, a majority vote of the D.C. city council will fill the vacancy by providing the former Montreal Expos the stadium that Montreal voters denied them. Touting the project, Mayor Anthony Williams of Washington claims that the revenue bonds that will be issued to build the stadium will be paid off completely by a lease payment of $15 million a year, by taxes on facility revenues, and by socking large businesses in D.C. with a new tax.
