At least 28 federal class action suits in 28 states have been filed in the last two weeks on behalf of non-custodial parents (NCPs). The defendants are the individual states. The plaintiffs claim to represent an estimated 25 million non-custodial parents -- primarily fathers -- whose right to equal custody of minor children in situations of dispute is allegedly being violated by family courts across the nation. Family law is traditionally a state matter, but the federal government has assumed greater control in the area over the last few decades. Thus, the plaintiffs are appealing to the Constitution, U.S. Supreme Court precedent and acts of Congress "to vindicate and restore their various inalienable rights." (Read the rest here)

-- No Such Thing! Whatever happened to accountability? Everyone I know wants to be number one, the top dog or gun; the title where the buck stops. Whatever happened to that inescapable assignment of responsibility? Those in upper positions are often heard to quip, That's why I get paid the big bucks! But whether it's stopping the buck, or making the big bucks, somebody at the top must be held accountable. Why else would an organization be needed if not to compartmentalize and differentiate work and various tasks to accomplish an organization's overall mission under a designated leader? Price of Liberty Reader's Forum AND Feedback! Dear Readers. I need your help to determine what to do about our feedback. The current system is very inadequate and it is cumbersome to get your comments to the authors. We set up one of our writers, Ed Ward with a topic in the reader's forum for feedback, thinking that this would be much better for everyone, but so far only he and I have posted anything to it.
