Triangle Shirtwaist Fire
By Rex Curry

The Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire of 1911 is often misused as a example of the need for child labor laws and safety codes. It is actually a warning to employers and employees to beware of the misdeeds and negligence of other employees. It is also shows the need for private fire departments instead of government-run fire departments. http://members.ij.net/rex/lawyer.html

The workers were 17, 18, and 19 years old or older. So workers were not children, would not be controlled by present child labor laws and thus the incident provides no support for child labor laws.

Though there are persistent myths that doors were locked and fire escapes were faulty, the owner of the building and the proprietors of the Triangle Co. were exonerated by a judge, and an insurance company gave the men $64,925 for property damage. (Read the rest here)

AIPAC’s Power Base - America's Real Terrorists!
By Ted Lang © 2004

Our entire government is controlled by Israel! Through a small, rich and powerful Jewish supported pro-Israeli tax-exempt lobby, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or simply AIPAC, virtually all American domestic and foreign policy is now being controlled by a foreign government entanglement. This is done by targeting American politicians: those who are pro-Israel receive campaign funding and favorable publicity through a myriad of Jewish organizations, magnified by the liberal and Democratic Party-leaning American press; those politicians not favoring policies benefiting Israel are targeted by Jews all over America who send money to help finance that politician’s opponent.

Former Georgia Congresswoman, Cynthia McKinney, who was critical of the dominance Israel enjoyed controlling our government, was defeated in this way by Jewish contributions coming in from all over the United States. Those contributions had to be requested en masse, funneled to a finance manager, and then distributed to all the right places to both the opposing candidate and key media outlets to generate the necessary opposing campaign propaganda. Poll: Bush Opens Lead On Kerry?
By Carl F. Worden

Based upon a poll of “likely voters”, George W. Bush has opened up a nice, double-digit lead on opponent John Kerry following the Republican convention.

Or has he?

As I have been writing all along, the math indicates Kerry will still edge Bush on November 2nd, based upon my assessment of voters who have vowed never to vote for Bush again, and a very serious group that has emerged undetected by these polls: The normally apathetic 18 to 24 year old voters. 1- U.S. Wilderness Act keeps going after 40 years
Billings Gazette
"Forty years and 106 million acres after Congress decided that the wilderness should not be spoiled by people, the law is such an icon that skeptics dare only try to slow its consequences."
Now I'm no lover of these tree-hugging types, but we gotta have a sense of perspective. All right-thinking 'mericuns, no matter how much they don't like not being able to go four-wheeling all over God's creation, realize that extending more and more guvmint control over more and more land is critical to the cause of freedom for the whole world. We need to triple this in the next forty years - 318 million acres! Yeah! Then when we need all that space for military training, and all those buried resources, it'll be easy to go take what we need, without worrying about a bunch of strange types hiding out in the woods, other than a few back-to-nature flower children. Asthma, A New Epidemic?
By Susan Callaway, RN

"Asthma, A New Epidemic?" was chosen for the title here because many current news stories about this condition hype the idea that we are in the middle of some kind of pandemic outbreak of asthma, usually pushing a thinly veiled- or even blatant - pseudo environmentalist theme. While more people may now be identified as asthmatic these days, there is nothing in the scientific medical journals to indicate that there is any vast increase in the actual percentage of the population who have it. Solid research is being done, and effective treatments are available.

Don't get me wrong. There are serious environmental components to both the cause and treatment of asthma, as well as many other diseases and health problems, but the radical "greenie" nonsense promoted in much of the popular media reporting has little or nothing to do with reality. This article from the "Environmental News Network" is a prime example of bogus information. Since "global warming" has no serious scientific backing, one might consider being properly skeptical of anything else they had to say. The Center for Consumer Freedom is an excellent website for honest information about these phony "environmental" outfits and their activities. (Read the rest here)
