An unseen part of a writer's job - even for people who write only as a hobby and can't really consider it a job - is correspondence. From brief one-time replies to full-fledged conversations that can develop into personal friendships, it's easy to get bogged down in various forms of correspondence. Pen pals can accumulate rapidly, and as conversations get philosophically deeper or more intense and proliferate, it can become overwhelming to maintain many simultaneously. Those conversations can feel like the most rewarding aspect of being a moonlight writer - they can also feel like a self-punishment mechanism at times. (Read the rest here)
Mission
of Choice - Accepted! “Good morning Mr. Phelps. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is….” These were the words that launched each exciting episode of what was my favorite last show of the weekend on Sunday evenings preceding the 11:00 p.m. “Evening News.” The show was Mission Impossible. There is something, at least for me, very fascinating in such adventures that allow a small, secretive group of individuals to pool their talents to tackle seemingly insurmountable odds and win in doing so. The group plans carefully, clearly defines the end objective, identifies the impossible obstacles, and then figures out a way to successfully defeat each challenge in order to successfully accomplish the mission.
