1- U.S. fedgov bureaucracy expanding
No kidding. It's amazing that a publication like GovExec is showing any signs of worry about this trend!

2- Federal judge okays free speech zone for convention protesters
"A federal judge ... upheld a fenced 'free speech zone' for protesters near the FleetCenter during next week's Democratic convention .... Though he ruled against the protesters, Woodlock called it "irretrievably sad" that post-Sept. 11 security threats and raucous antiglobalization protests in recent years have made tight restrictions necessary."

I cannot in any way understand how this man can reconcile his oath to uphold the Constitution with this absurd and authoritarian ruling. If we can have free speech only inside the confines of a concentration camp, then like Canada, free speech is dead in the USA. (Read the rest here)

Response to Dennis Prager & WND - Opposing Zionism Is Not A Sin

It had to happen. The day would come when a biased, uninformed commentator would voice an opinion so outrageous so as to require a response to set the record straight.

I refer to the malicious and misinformed commentary of Dennis Prager, in his headline assault, “Presbyterian Church defames Christianity,” carried on the website of Internet pioneer Joseph Farah’s WorldNetDaily on July 20th.

But before I take Mr. Prager to task, I must confess that it was Joe Farah and his WND that inspired me to write on the Internet, which I have been doing for over three years.

I have been a conservative Republican for forty years, and am not a member of the “left” as the Pragers, Limbaughs and the Hannitys would have you believe. But I am Presbyterian, and have held several officer positions in my church. I am an ordained Elder. That said let me address Mr. Prager’s insinuations and uninformed tirade. (Read the rest here)

Gun Control Harming U.S. Troops

Is it possible for bad domestic law to be a detriment to our fighting forces overseas – even to the point of getting some soldiers killed? Absolutely, say veterans, who want lawmakers to fix the problem ASAP.
According to a report in the July issue of Soldier of Fortune magazine, many of the ammunition magazines for the M-16/M-4 family of rifles used by troopers, along with 9 mm magazines for sidearms, are increasingly failing because they are either old or of poor quality.

The result, say troopers, is that ammunition fails to feed properly – a situation which can turn deadly in a hurry during a firefight.

'Varmint' Rifle Needs to Go

Add to the problem the fact that the M-16 family of weapons utilizes .223 caliber (5.56 mm) ammunition, which has proven too small and light for war. (Read the rest here)

American Independence Day has come and gone, along with the traditional boom and glare of fireworks that bring joy to many kids, young and old.

Picture two such of the younger children: Adorable little girls just six and four years old respectively, Mikayla and Brittany. Imagine their anticipation as the big day approaches and they look forward not only to the beloved fireworks, but also to the arrival of their favorite uncle Jeff, whom they haven't seen in months.

Now picture the adorable little girls' disappointment because a suited goon in Ohio wouldn't let Uncle Jeff come see his family. Yes, Mikayla and Brittany are just two more victims of the Ashland County, Ohio prosecutor's office.

Call them "collateral damage," more innocents caught in the cross-fire as the run-amuck prosecutors pursue their vendetta against Jeffrey "Hunter" Jordan. (Read the rest here)
