A review
of James Bovard's The Bush Betrayal This book is bound to be banned. It obviously violates several federal statutes. It's rapid-fire, high-capacity, equipped with bayonet-sharp wit, and loaded with politician-piercing ammo. Never mind that the ammo is merely words. We already know how terrified the Bush administration is of opponents who fire verbs and nouns. Well, if the Bushfolk worry about the spray & pray innacuracies of a Michael Moore or the small-caliber pops-pops of protest tee-shirt wearers and sign holders, James Bovard has just given the administration real reason to duck and tremble. Bovard's new book The Bush Betrayal is one of his personal best. But it's more than good; it's a revelation. Through rapid bursts of well-documented facts it reveals an administration whose incompetence is equalled only by its messianic conviction of utter rightness. (Read the rest here)

Commentary on The Day's News I'm switching back to FND, but reserve the right to revise and kibitz on RRND whenever I feel like it. Deteriorating Image - Propaganda, The Intended Remedy As world opinion turns increasingly sour towards Israel, and its powerful enabler, the United States, more and more people in this country and abroad are beginning to become cognizant of the real source of evildoing and warmongering. In the oft-quoted words of Pogo, We have met the enemy and they is US! Astonishingly, even after the findings of the 9-11 Commission and the Senate Intelligence Committee investigations were released, President Bush continues repeating the same nonsense citing a connection between Iraq and 9-11, as well as the falsehoods of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. American government has rarely been in worse shape as regards credibility abroad, and the former international acceptance and sense that our foreign policy was built largely upon a foundation of integrity and morality has now completely disintegrated. Taxation Continues Unabated The Social Security trust fund now stands at $1.6 trillion ($1,624.5 billion) and, at the same time, accounts for 22.3 percent of the national debt. Not one presidential or congressional candidate and not one member of the Bush administration or the former Clinton administration is asked to explain how this has happened. Payroll taxes have been more than enough to deliver checks to more than 40 million retirees precisely on time the third day of every month and yet we keep ending up with an ever increasing debt. Debt is debt. It's not a positive asset. And there's no one to pay off this tab except the American taxpayer. (Read the rest here)

Religious Nature of Education
ALL EDUCATION IS RELIGIOUS AT HEART Most Americans think of education as a value-neutral arena in which children are taught the knowledge and skills they need to function as adults in society. As Christians, we must realize that education is inherently religious. What is education, if not teaching children about the way the world works? (Read the rest here)

Hunter: Collateral Damage American Independence Day has come and gone, along with the traditional boom and glare of fireworks that bring joy to many kids, young and old. Picture two such of the younger children: Adorable little girls just six and four years old respectively, Mikayla and Brittany. Imagine their anticipation as the big day approaches and they look forward not only to the beloved fireworks, but also to the arrival of their favorite uncle Jeff, whom they haven't seen in months. Now picture the adorable little girls' disappointment because a suited goon in Ohio wouldn't let Uncle Jeff come see his family. Yes, Mikayla and Brittany are just two more victims of the Ashland County, Ohio prosecutor's office. Call them "collateral damage," more innocents caught in the cross-fire as the run-amuck prosecutors pursue their vendetta against Jeffrey "Hunter" Jordan. (Read the rest here)
