Libertarian Commentary on Freedom News Daily
By Nathan A. Barton © 2004

These comments are the author's own (sometimes fleeting) views and not necessarily anyone else's. If you want to share your views on these, feel free to post or write me. By the way, my views on where a cat should enjoy a fresh-bird dinner are definitely NOT shared by the two felines currently in the house! 1- Northwest Airlines' Registered Traveler program gets underway
Not only is this a complete surrender of their rights by these travelers, it won't make any difference - there are at least six ways to work around this and use these "safe" travelers to the advantage of a terrorist who wants to do harm. Of course, I can think of several reasons that the fedgov wants this, not the least of which is to condition people into "papers please" even more than we are today.

2- RFID: techno dream or privacy nightmare?
This article deserves more time than I can devote for now, but it clearly points out the problems we have with tools of all kind - they aren't evil in and of themselves! But they can make the job of freedom-fighter OR tyrant easier or harder, by how and why they are used. Read this one carefully, and form your own thoughts. (Read the rest here)

The Israeli Connection- Our Bought and Paid For Government
By Ted Lang © 2004

What a great country - everything is for sale! Even our government is available for sale, or at least it was! Foolish, uninformed, stupid taxpayers think the government belongs to them as exchange consideration of our paying taxes to it rather than just the other way around. And they fail to comprehend that our nation’s government was available for sale, and of course, to the highest bidder. And that bidder was Israel. The transaction is complete, but we will once again pay the real price in spilled American blood.

But what is even more absurd, and even more outrageous than the simple treason perpetrated by our government against “We the People,” is that most of the money used to buy our government out from under US was our own money to begin with! Ten to twenty billion of our taxpayer dollars gets shipped to Israel annually! And Israel determines our foreign policy! They have a stooge in the White House and many more in the United States Congress that are selling US out to advance the interests of Israel and the New World Order (Read the rest here)

The American Revolution and Iraq
By William Marina*

As Americans mark the 228th anniversary of the signing of the American Declaration of Independence this Fourth of July, two parallels between our Revolution and today’s insurgency in Iraq come to mind. One, based in myth, would lead its advocates to folly, while the other deserves serious consideration.

The mythical parallel, drawn by intellectuals as diverse as Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg and Iraq war-hawk, neo-conservative godfather Irving Kristol is what might be called “The Minority Myth.” Cited in numerous books about the Revolution is a letter written by founding father John Adams which seems to indicate that only one third of the American colonists were for the Revolution, another third were against it, and a final third were neutral or indifferent to the whole affair. The letter has been brought into favor by certain parties hoping Iraq turns to democracy, for, if true, this claim would suggest that the current lack of consensus on democracy in Iraq does not foretell defeat of the efforts to impose it there.
