May 11,
2004 The wagons are being circled around Potus (the President of the United States) to protect the Commander-in-Chief, the top dog in the military's chain of command, with the Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, taking the brunt of outrage and possibly ending up as the sacrificial lamb in this current issue that everyone wants to put behind us so we can proceed with our major objectives and plans for empire. Who says the buck stops at the Pentagon instead of the Commander-in-Chief? This is also happening around the one year anniversary of the day our illustrious leader made a dramatic photo-op landing on an aircraft carrier three miles off the coast of California, dressed in full flight gear, to declare "Mission Accomplished" in Iraq. Another lie that was a slap in the face of democracy everywhere in a "free world" where the people were overwhelmingly against the illegal invasion of a defenseless pipsqueak nation held under embargo for more than a decade, already contained, and after at least six months of daily appearances on television and radio drumming home the false idea that we were in immediate (45 minute) danger from a republic with weapons of mass destruction, with ties to the Al Qaeda and the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001. Booga-booga. A White House web page continues to display all of the lies that led us into believing that it was absolutely necessary to preemptively "Attack Iraq" because we were in eminent danger. Gradually, and day by day, the American public is becoming more and more aware of the fact that you cannot trust our federal government on anything they say, a fact that I have been harping on for what seems like an eternity. Basically, if they will lie to you about trust funds, they will lie to you about anything. Trust is trust, and the abuse of trust is a criminal con game no matter what the subject, no matter whether it deals with money or war. Even the polling game, usually conducted with the cheaper method of maintaining a paid panel of some sort, is not delivering a true picture of anything. Afraid that they might be labeled as "traitors" and put on some sort of list, many of the people polled are quite naturally hesitant to express their true feelings in responding to direct and often misleading questions. Another small detail lies in the fact that we still haven't heard a word about what happened to the $89 billion "Unconditional Gift Account" once held by the U.S. State Department, but suddenly gone from the 2003 list of trust funds. Is there anyone who doubts that this money went towards buying the "coalition of the willing" or some thirty nations supporting our invasion, a few like the Dominican Republic even sending a small number of troops? And isn't it ironic that Great Britain, the very same nation our "freedom fighting" forefathers revolted against and did so by using tactics that nowadays would be labeled "terrorism," are now our strongest ally? Of course, the British are no longer standing and kneeling in formation with muskets and today are using the same brutal "abuse" techniques our own intelligence people use. Is anyone calling for taking Tony Blair or whoever is his sacrificial secretary of defense "to the woodshed?" Maybe. Even though the "manifesto" of American policy for empire building, as sponsored by Bill Kristol and most of the Bush administration's cabinet and immediate advisors, has been publicly available for some time, the American public is just beginning to experience the reality of this plan and even that comes mostly through the results rather than understanding the policy itself. It's amazing that so many people on the street today view the current problem with prisoners at Abu Ghraib and other prisons as well as the release of these pictures as nothing more than a "sucker punch" to inflame the rest of the Arab world into a frenzy that will result in war, not only in Iraq, but in the entire Arab world. In short, that we are trying to antagonize all Arab countries into an all out third world war or at least another Mexican standoff Cold War over the threat of nuclear weapons. The latter to support our heavy wartime weapons of mass destruction production economy. While politicians are calling for an extensive and expensive campaign to "repair our image," to show that we don't tolerate abusive behavior, that we are morally superior to the events of Abu Ghraib, that we need to be successful in Iraq, that we are as John McCain puts it "the beacon of hope and liberty"there is only one thing that will clearly demonstrate our goodness and that is get the hell out of Iraq now. Even that may not immediately repair the damage from death and destruction we've already brought to this small nation under our totally false pretenses, our lies. It will take years to repair our reputation, even if we pull out of all the nations where we are protecting our "national interests." A number of countries that even our leaders can't count, but seems to hover somewhere between 120 and 150 places other than Iraq. Places around the world where we do more harm by accident than we do good.
