Pay More Through Sneaky Tax Increases

With teacher layoffs and schools closing all over the country, the Bush administration is borrowing money like there's no tomorrow, debt to heap on the shoulders of children who will probably not have the wherewithal to pay it off by working in America's future rice paddies.

The national debt went up $555 billion last year. Six months into this year, fiscal 2004, the national debt has already gone up $347.8 billion with half the year still to go. We are well on the way to a debt increase of $700 billion this year, an election year. (Read the rest here.)

The One Thing Guaranteed To Work

I love talking to people about the freedom philosophy, but it has its challenges. Those who are just discovering it are so excited, the whole world seems like a more wonderful place, brimming with possibilities! In contrast, seasoned conservatives, who often understand the economic aspects of the freedom philosophy, have a depressingly grim outlook. Seasoned (so-called) liberals, who often understand the personal aspects of the freedom philosophy, have a depressingly hysterical outlook. Even libertarians, who often understand the freedom philosophy well, have a depressingly hopeless outlook. It’s like pulling teeth trying to convince many “seasoned” political observers that they are--in fact--free and that they can exercise their freedom. Convincing them that a stable and free society is possible and perhaps even likely is harder than trying to talk a traffic cop out of a ticket.

So, I’ve come up with one thing I can suggest to even the most cynical people that is guaranteed to make the world a better place. It is this: teach your children freedom. More specifically: teach your children that they are free, and that no one has a right to hurt them, control them, or to take that which is theirs. Help them to grow up to be healthy individuals, self-aware of their free nature. A free society is composed of free individuals; the former cannot come into being without the latter. If you don't have children, this idea can be applied to nieces, nephews, students, and even employees; anyone to whom you become a mentor. (Read the rest here.)

F.B.I - Fraud, Bureaubabble and Intimidation

A few years back, the FBI was exposed for the astonishing malfeasance, lack of professionalism and reckless abandon of scientific discipline ascribable to its once world-renowned forensic crime laboratory. Shortcuts and political expediency on the part of the laboratory were exposed. Even the failure of basic safety procedures relative to laboratory testing of explosives, explosive devices and propellants, partially destroyed the FBI laboratory back in 1987.

And in 2001, it had been reported that the FBI lost some of its firearms. No big deal – 449 weapons were “lost,” including handguns, rifles, shotguns and sub machine-guns. Now even though the FBI uses standard government accounting, probably a nebulous, trackless contractor-installed system no one can figure out and tantamount in effect to no accounting at all, its ramshackle complexity was able to determine that of the 449 firearms missing, 265 firearms were lost and 184 were stolen. Stolen? Isn’t the FBI the premier federal police agency of the most powerful nation on Earth, and yet common thieves stole their guns? (Read the rest here.)
