Golly gee, wow and holly molly, rising medical care costs are driving the Medicare system into turning to its trust fund. Not enough money is coming in from payroll taxes to support outflows and the rate of unemployment and decreased contributions from those who are working part-time or were forced to take jobs at less pay isn't helping. Can you imagine that? What a surprise. Uncle Scam's spinmeisters are telling us that the Medicare program faces bankruptcy by the year 2019, so don't worry, we've still got several years to work on the problem. As of the end of February, there's $286.5 billion in nonmarketable U.S. Treasury bonds in the Medicare Trust Fundthe combination of the Federal Hospital Insurance and the Federal Supplementary Medical Insurance trust funds. Thirteen years before we will find ourselves in exactly the same position we find ourselves todayhaving to pay to support the system. (Read the rest here)

Pryor Got His Judas Money Food For Thought From The Chuck Wagon According to news reports, "President Bush used a recess appointment Friday [Feb. 20] to give Alabama Attorney General Bill Pryor a seat on the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily. Pryor was sworn in by U.S. Circuit Judge Ed Carnes in a private ceremony in Alabama Friday. His appointment is expected to last until the end of 2005." Faithful readers of this column know that Pryor was the political Judas who turned against Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore after promising former Alabama Governor Fob James and the people of Alabama that he would back Moore "all the way." In fact, Bill Pryor would never have attained the Alabama Attorney General's office without his enthusiastic support for Judge Moore. Therefore, James and others were shocked at Pryor's sudden decision to prosecute Chief Justice Moore and orchestrate Moore's removal from the Alabama Supreme Court. (Read the rest here)
