Losing Faith?
By Frank Worley

A number of politicians have recently said publicly that if government doesn’t tackle this issue or other, the American people will “lose faith” in the system. A number of times it has been used to refer to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome’s decision to allow gay marriages. The law, whether it is right or wrong, must be enforced. If not, the people will loose “faith” in the system.

Ok, what is wrong with this picture?

In most U.S. elections, especially in the so called, “off year” elections, about half of the people don’t vote. Why do you presume that is? Could it be they’ve “lost faith”? Oh horrors. (Read the rest here)

Funnel takes - A Carnival Specialty!
By Ted Lang © 2004

There was a time in America when the waging of war was for a reason. The primary reason was for the protection of our nation and its peace-loving people. It was a matter of defense to ensure survival. Not any more! We are a capitalist society, which means everything we do is not even remotely connected to either reason or justification. Wars are now being initiated by “we the people” not to secure our protection and well being, but to generate profits for the warmongering capitalists and their representatives and stakeholders in Washington, D.C.

Of course we are speaking of the Bush crime family and its cabal of warmongers. They are the military-industrial complex President Dwight David Eisenhower warned US about. They create unnecessary wars, which result in massive unbid contracts that generate huge and unbelievable gains for the Bush family co-investors and stockholder friends that are enriched by these special behind-the-scenes interests from profits generated by the deaths and maiming of our military heroes. Paygo And Insurance
By Ed Henry

What a week it's been, and the propaganda is just starting up once again. First we had Alan Greenscam telling us that cutting Social Security benefits is the way to reduce deficits and then on Saturday evening we had Robert Novak of CNN's The Capital Hill Gang yelling and screaming about Social Security both as a Ponzi scheme and an insurance myth, repeating it all more softly on Tim Russet's Meet The Press Sunday morning.

In a matter of days we went from the economic wizard to one of the major nitwits of disinformation. Let's get rid of the absolutely ridiculous first.

If Social Security were a Ponzi scheme, it would either have died a few years after starting or retired people like myself would be multi-millionaires by now. Charles Ponzi invented the pyramid scheme and pyramid schemes never last beyond the fifth tier unless they just start out adding increments of only one or two people at a time. If you start with five or more paying to the instigator, and each of them gets five more, and so on, you have an unmanageable system in no time. Try it with a chain letter if you want or put together a telephone tree (which any politician or poll taker could do if he really wanted the opinions of constituents) and see how soon everyone throws in the towel.
