Warning
Signs I've been politically active for some years now. At various times, I've lobbied my representatives on behalf of the space program and on Second Amendment issues. I've written letters concerning immigration and foreign policy. I've made phone calls and sent faxes regarding privacy matters. Sometimes I get answers I appreciate. Other times, I get answers I don't really appreciate, but at least I get satisfaction from knowing my views were heard and considered. Occasionally, I get no answer at all. But no matter what topic I'm addressing, or how any response is framed, I've never felt any more or less than a participant in the political process. At least, I haven't felt anything other than that until recently... As time has passed, it should come as no real surprise to anyone that my activism has increased. The more I learned about the activities of my legislators and our law enforcement authorities, the more I could see needed to be changed. I'm now so vested in working to restore liberty in America that I strongly support the Free State Project as well as the Free West and Free State Wyoming projects. How strongly? Strongly enough that I fully intend to relocate and do my part for freedom. (Read the rest here)
The
International Terror-and-Drug Cop Is on the Beat Those who favor the U.S. governments role as international policeman must be ecstatic that the feds are now expanding their jurisdiction in their decades-long war on drugs to include the entire world. How so? Well, despite the fact that U.S. drug laws apply only in the United States, U.S. military forces are now using their "war on terror" and their invasion and occupation of Iraq to search and seize ships in the Persian Gulf and the North Arabian Sea alleged to be carrying illicit drugs and to remove the crew members to the Pentagons prison camp in Afghanistan for interrogation and punishment. What? Have the suspects fired on U.S. military vessels? Have they laid mines in the ocean to blow up U.S. ships? Have they fired torpedoes? No; all theyve been accused of doing is what smugglers always do in response to such political interventions as drug laws smuggle. (Read the rest here)
Homeowners:
Ever Heard Of A C.L.U.E Report? You Oregon homeowners will definitely want to know about this, and you homeowners outside Oregon are either in for it, or already have it. I believe California has forbid it.
What is it? Its called a C.L.U.E. Report, and it is used by every Oregon insurance agent to score you and your home claims history before an insurer will agree to insure your home.
I didnt know about it, because I havent shopped my homeowners insurance for a couple of years due to the fact Safeco has kept my rates reasonable, but when I got this years renewal notice it was obviously time to shop around.
The first thing that alarmed my wife and me was that every insurance agency wanted both of our social security numbers to run through the C.L.U.E. report to score us. We at first refused to give our social security numbers out of concern for identity theft exposure, particularly since we had no idea who worked in each office, such as clerks and secretaries, who might be taking the information to sell to others. But we ran into a brick wall: Not a single agency would give us a quote without us first giving them our social security numbers! No social security number, no insurance; ya got that baby?
