The
President doesn’t have any Constitutional Authority over the Economy According to democrats and their willing accomplices in the press, President Bush is single-handedly responsible for the worst economy since the ice ages. This inference suggests that the Constitution vests the office of the president with some level of authority over the economy. If the American people were more constitutionally astute, and the press was doing its job, the democrats could never get away with such a shameless distortion of the Constitution because there is not a single provision in the document that grants the President any general authority over the economy. The problem seems to be that while things such as weapons are neutral, men are not. Building from within is a hobby after the victorious days of battle have left little else to do, thus the survivors of the wars are finally put to work creating everything from hanging gardens, great statues and enormous tombs to commemorate the glory of the ruler who made all the prosperity possible through conquest. The ruler generally leaves a subdued populace and some very dissatisfied neighbors or venture conquerors lurking over the hills somewhere. (Read the rest here)
