Not Politics As Usual in 2004

With everything the American public has considered "American" being dismantled by warped legislatures and equally twisted judges, how could Election 2004 be "politics as usual" or as we've known it for the past years of our various lifetimes? Even in 2000, with the lesser of two evils presenting themselves as candidates for president, it seemed as if we, the voters, the American people, were selecting between a liberal and a man who presented as a conservative. Oh yes -- compassionate conservative. Recall, please, that this was Election 2000, some eight months prior to the September 11, 2001 attack that seems to have forever changed America, the applicability of its Constitution, and the centralization of power in the Executive Branch with full backup from a politicized judiciary. A Gift For Granny

Mrs. B. spent each morning parked in her wheelchair in front of the reception desk, enduring the blasts of either cold or heat, depending on the season, each time the big automatic doors opened with the endless stream of people coming and going. She would not accept food or water, medicine or anything else during this vigil, but each day at noon her cheerful countenance would fall and she would allow the attendant to wheel her back to her room and put her to bed.

Whenever she was asked why she sat at the door each day, she would say only, "My son is coming". But he never came. (Read the rest here)

Predictably and unrelentingly, American government continues to carve out for itself ever-expending rights and freedoms at the expense of once-free Americans in the name of security measures against terrorism. But, as all informed students of government and political science already know, government, “the state,” isn’t the least bit concerned about protecting its citizens; it is only concerned about protecting itself.
