‘Tis the season once again, a time for red and green, as in red holly berries and their green, pointy leaves. But right now, that’s not what I’m thinking about. I’m thinking about “Froggy.” You old timers out there will remember the little green frog character that used to appear after a puff of smoke on that Saturday morning kiddy show of yesteryear, Andy’s Gang. The dude was actually black and white - they didn’t have color TV back then. But all the kids knew he was supposed to be green. The problem was his voice; it was a buzzy, gravelly voice - a kind of irritating squawking. He was always hopping around and squawking.

Not to be disrespectful to our “honorables” over in the District of Criminals, Washington, DC, but Froggy’s voice sounded exactly like that of Congressman Charles B. Rangel, of New York’s 15th Congressional District [Manhattan]. Now I apologize for my insensitivity here in comparing the gravelly-voiced Congressman to a squawky, jumping frog of my long-departed childhood, but in all honesty, the voice is a perfect fit! What doesn’t fit is, of course, the color. Froggy was supposed to be green, but although the Congressman is black, he’s actually red!

I again apologize for my insensitivity, first for alluding to the highest Chris…, oops, er, the most celebrated seasonal holid…[sorry]. What I meant to say, well you know! It’s that time when we enjoy the diversity of that German tradition of cutting down a live evergreen tree and… [not that either?] Sorry! It’s that time when a fat guy in a red suit [okay???] flies around with reindeer pulling his sled an…[no?]. Pshaw! Okay! All the reindeer ride inside the sleigh and the fat guy pushes it! Whew! Tough crowd over here at CBS [Communism Beats Santa].

Anyway, like I was saying, Representative Rangel might sound like Froggy, but he is constantly thinking and seeing red. It was writer-broadcaster Geoff Metcalf writing for WorldNetDaily.com back on November 23, 1998, almost five years to the day, that offered this observation in his column, “The enemy within.” “Perhaps one of the answers [addressing the unfairness of the Democrat Party attacking Special Prosecutor Ken Starr] is that 58 Democrats in Congress are members of a policy group that is working with, and being promoted by the Democratic Socialists of America, the domestic branch of the Socialist International Party.”

Metcalf goes on in the article, “I checked out the website of the Democratic Socialists and learned, ‘DSA is working with the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a network of more than 50 progressive members of the U.S. House of Representatives.’ Apparently they are working to affect a political agenda which includes [among a gaggle of gagging stuff] ‘economic redistribution’ and ‘social and environmental justice.’” [Emphasis in the original]

Metcalf points out that Conservative News Service, now named Cybercast News Service or CNS, attempted to contact several key members of the “Black Caucus,” but that they were only able to reach “self-proclaimed socialist” Congressman Bernard Sanders of Vermont. Metcalf cautions, “Slowly now, and read this twice… an avowedly socialist congressional caucus is operating out of a congressional office which is staffed by a congressional aide and paid for with your tax dollars. Yes folks, YOU are paying for the rope with which it is intended you be hanged.”

The DSA website quoted by Metcalf offers: “ ‘The Progressive Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives is made up of 58 members of the House. The Caucus works to advance economic and social justice through sponsoring legislation that reflects its purpose. The Caucus also works with a coalition of organizations, called the Progressive Challenge, to bring new life to the progressive voice in U.S. politics.’ … and it is assumed, to undermine, abrogate and destroy the Constitution of the United States to which those 58 congressional members have sworn a sacred oath. Who are these socialist coconspirators? You’ll recognize many of them as the ‘usual suspects’ as purveyors of petulance.” Metcalf lists each and every Democrat.

The following is taken from the DSA’s current website: “The Bush regime took power after the 2000 elections against the will of the majority of Americans, and has now achieved domination of all three branches of the federal government. On a host of issues -- massive tax breaks for the rich, brutal cuts in spending for pressing social needs, attacks on workers' rights, civil liberties, reproductive rights and racial justice, corporate destruction of the environment, packing the courts with right-wing ideologues, a foreign policy of imperial arrogance and perpetual war -- the Bush regime is an unmitigated disaster. Its new National Security Doctrine of ‘preemptive wars’ purports to justify the United States overthrowing any government that gives offense to the U.S. The Bush regime is perhaps the most reactionary in American history; its program of deregulation, upward redistribution of wealth and income, and imperial global domination threatens to roll back the twentieth century and return us to the McKinley era.”

I think it safe to conclude that these self-righteous communists oppose President George Bush’s unconstitutional war with Iraq. And considering also that Congressman Rangel is a member of the Black Caucus that receives its direction from the DSA, it can easily be concluded that both the DSA and the Democrat Party Black Caucus oppose the war. Bush and his advisors have been denigrated as “neoconservative.” There is abundant documentation that the neoconservative Project for the New American Century [PNAC] favors a policy of advancing the interests of Israel in the Mideast, and that motive has been advanced and further authenticated by the absence of any incriminating evidence of “evildoing” on the part of Iraq. Democrats are constantly whining about this unjust war, especially Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi of the Peoples Republic of California. Pelosi is also a member of the Black Caucus.

If Democrats, socialists and communists are so opposed to the Iraqi war, why are Democrats seeking to provide additional casualties for a war they oppose by drafting legislation to add more vital, young, warm bodies to this deadly misadventure? Why have Representative Charles Rangel and his Black Caucus of peace-seeking socialists advanced a bill [H.R. 163] that reads: “A bill to provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes.”

Why isn’t the word “draft” written anywhere in, on or near this lunacy? Why isn’t the word “communist” allowed in our common vernacular? And why aren’t any Republican names listed as cosponsors? They’re all Black Caucus Democrats! And it seems they once had a Bill that dodged the draft; why are they now the ones resurrecting it?

In the Senate, Senator Fritz “Foghorn”[thanks Neal Boortz] Hollings sponsored its version with similar wording, but as yet with no cosponsors. What’s going on here? If Democrats are so opposed to the lunacy of the war in Iraq, why are they the only ones to have signed on to reinstate the draft? Our military has been stretched so thin with this preemptive war madness that Democrats are right to challenge it aggressively. But what’s up with their support for upping the body count, especially on the part of Americans?

As we now look to honor our veterans and dead from past wars on this Veterans’ Day, why should more Americans be made to give up their lives and limbs for a Congress that disgraces US, its oath of office, and the very Constitution our veterans fought and died for by advancing un-American socialism? And this while at the same time disgracefully turning their backs on injured service personnel now awaiting adequate medical care and attention from the current, ongoing war. And many are long overdue proper medical attention right here in the United States! Some injured and sick military personnel languish in filthy and totally unsafe quarters

Perhaps we should all write to Democrats Senator Foghorn and Congressman Froggy and tell ‘em: Hell no, we won’t go! Or better yet, maybe we should just tell them all to go to hell! But wait, I shouldn’t say that, especially now as we approach the Chris…
